Several coliforms conferring resistance to tetracycline and/or streptomycine or Hg, etc, have been isolated from domestic fowl to examine genetic properties of bacterial plasmid. Four distinct R plasmids, given the name pSL100-pSL400 respectively, were transfered to Escherichia coli K strain ; among them, PSL200 and pSL400 were also transfered to Escherichia coli B and Salmonella typhimurium LT-2, while pSL100 transfered only to Escherichia coli B. Also, it was demonstrated that pSL100 and pSL400 showed greater ability to suppress the transfer of F’ factor in Escherichia coli K than pSL200.

Purpose: In this study, an automatic performance tester (APT) was developed for an auxiliary power unit (APU) applied to self-propelled artillery, and the precision and stability of the APT were evaluated using measurement system analysis (MSA). Methods: The APT was developed as a package system comprising indicators, control devices, and a remote-control panel. Gage R&R analysis was conducted on the measurements of the rated voltage, output current, engine revolutions, and recovery time. In addition, to calibrate the APT, the data from the APT were compared with those from general-purpose measurement devices. Results: The percentage R&R values of the rated voltage, engine speed, and recovery time were less than 10 (i.e., acceptable) and that of the output current was 14.34 (i.e., conditionally acceptable). The differences in the measured values between the APT and general-purpose measurement devices were within 10% of the tolerance, so the APT calibration was considered to be acceptable. Conclusion: The results of this study are expected to provide some preliminary data for the development of APT measurement standards for self-propelled artillery APUs with defense-quality standards.

This experiment has been carried out to study the physicochemical properties of labile milk on alcohol test which were yielded from healthy cows that they did not show the external clinical symptoms in the body and were in the normal lactation period. The results obtained were summerized as follows. 1) The cows yielding alcohol labile milk did not produce the positive milk on alcohol test always, and they did normal milk sometimes. 2) As the results of analysis on pH value, acidity, alizarin alcohol test, Whiteside test, heating test, chloride test and cell number, it seemed that there were little or no considerable differences between normal and alcohol labile milk. 3) The content of solids-not-fat, protein and lactose in alcohol labile milk showed values a little lower than those in the normal milk, and the content of fat and ash was similar to those of the normal milk. 4) Normal fresh milk frozen at-10℃ for 24 hours showed a tendency to be transformed into positive milk easily on alcohol test compared with the milk which the milk which was not frozen. 5) On the polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, there was little difference between caseins made from normal and alcohol labile milk. 6) By rennet treatment on normal and alcohol labile milk, the milk clotting time, and the amount of soluble nitrogen at pH 4.6 and in 12% TCA were determined. However no significant difference was found between both of normal and alcohol labile milks. 7) Caseins obtained from normal and alcohol labile milks were tested by the different concentration of alcohol. As the result of the test, caseins from alcohol labile milk were precipitated easily compared with that of normal milk.

For seismic design for high-rise buildings and special structures, linear or nonlinear response history analysis (RHA) have been used for estimating accurate seismic demands of structures. In order to obtain satisfactory analysis results, proper selection of input ground motions are very important. Current seismic design provisions require a set of multiple ground motions rather than a single ground motion. Several studies reported that Trial-and-error procedure did not provide accurate and consistent selection results. Several procedures were proposed to select ground motions which have the mean and variance of their response spectra matching target response spectrum mean and variance. This study considers correlation structure with mean and variance of target response spectrum for selecting ground motions. The effect of correlation structure on seismic demand on structures is evaluated. NGA data base is used to construct ground motion library and 20-story steel moment frame is considered as model frame. This study showed that the effect of correlation structure on the seismic demands of the structure can not be neglected when selecting ground motions.
