키위 쇠락증상 발생 및 습해 저항성 대목을 이용한 예방

키위산업은 키위나무가 급속하게 시들면서 1-2년 사이에 말라죽는 키위 쇠락증상의 출현으로 위협을 받고 있다. 쇠락증상의 주요 증상은 뿌리 피층 붕괴, 잎 괴사, 낙엽, 열매 표피 주름 및 잔가지 시들음이다. 키위 쇠락증상은 장마 후 한여름에 골드키위(Actinidia chinensis var. chinensis)와 그린키위(A. chinensis var. deliciosa)에서 모두 발생하였다. 키위 쇠락증상은 침수나 통기 불량으로 인해 수분이 많은 점질토양에서 심하게 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 증상과 직접적인 관련이 있는 병원균은 없었다. 키위 쇠락증상은 침수와 같은 수분 스트레스에 강한 바운티대목(Bounty 71)을 사용하여 효율적으로 예방할 수 있을 것으로 전망된다. Kiwifruit industry has been threatened by the emergence of kiwifruit vine decline syndrome causing plant death within one or two years from symptom appearance. The main symptoms of this syndrome are root cortex breakdown, leaf necrosis, phylloptosis, fruit skin wrinkling, and twig wilting. Kiwifruit vine decline syndrome occurred on both Actinidia chinensis var. chinensis and A. chinensis var. deliciosa in mid-summer after rainy season. Kiwifruit vine decline syndrome was turned out to be severely occurred in wettable clay soils affected by waterlogging or poor aeration. No pathogens were directly correlated with the syndrome. Kiwifruit vine decline syndrome could be expected to be efficiently prevented controlled using Bounty 71 rootstock tolerant to water stress such as waterlogging.
유기재배 배 과수원에서 그물망과 정향유 처리가 큰검정풍뎅이 방제에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 배 유기재배 과수원에서 그물망과 정향유물을 처리하였을 때 큰검정풍뎅이에 의한 잎 피해를 예방할 수 있는지 확인하고자 수행되었다. 2017년 6월 하순에 보성과 함평의 배 과수원에서 그물망, 그물망 + 정향유, 무처리구 등 3처리구를 두고 큰검정풍뎅이 밀도와 잎 피해율을 조사하였다. 또한 그물망 설치 위치를 달리하여 과수원 외부, 평덕시설의 상부, 평덕시설의 하부에 그물망을 설치하여 포획된 성충 개체수를 계수하였다. 그 결과 그물망 처리구에서 20.4~34.7%, 그물망 + 정향유 혼합처리구에서 21.1~38.1% 수준으로 무처리구보다 낮은 성충수가 포획되었다. 또한 그물망 설치위치에 따른 포획 개체수는 수관하부 설치구 대비 과수원 외곽은 10.9~14.3배, 수관 상부는 5.1~9.1배로 더 많이 포획되었다. 처리구별 잎 피해율을 조사 한 결과 두 지역 모두 무처리구와 비교하여 유의적으로 그물망, 그물망 + 정향유 처리구에서 잎 피해율이 낮았다. 따라서 큰검정풍뎅이에 의한 잎 피해를 예방하기 위해 그물망을 외곽에 처리하는 것이 실용적 대안이라고 판단된다. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether leaf damage in pear orchards caused by large black chafer beetles can be controlled through net traps and clove oil treatment. In June 2017, we measured large black chafer beetle population density and leaf damage rates in two orchards, located in Boseong and Hampyeong, under three treatments: net, net plus clove oil, and control. In order to evaluate the effect of net position on the adult beetles, nets were placed outside the orchard and along the upper and lower parts of a horizontal trellis. The adult beetle population density was 20.4 to 34.7% lower in the net alone treatment, and 21.1 to 38.1% lower in the combined net and clove oil treatment than in the control. The adult beetle population density was 10.9-14.4 times higher outside the orchard and 5.1 to 9.1 times higher in the upper parts of the horizontal trellis than in the lower parts of the horizontal trellis. Leaf damage under both the net only and net plus clove oil treatments was significantly lower than that in the control at both sites. Therefore, intensive net installation around orchards may be a practical organic alternative to prevent leaf damage caused by large black chafer beetles.
유기재배 과원에서 큰검정풍뎅이 방제를 위한 기피 살충자재 선발

The study investigated the efficacy of four different essential oils on the repellent responses of large black chafer (Holotrichia parallela) Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) in organic pear (Pyrus pyrifolia) orchards. Cinnamon, pine, peppermint, and eucalyptus oils were used, and the behavioral responses and repellent effects against H. parallela were investigated under laboratory and field conditions. Adult beetle responses to different oils were examined using a Y-tube olfactometer in the laboratory and four absorbent blocks with each oil in the field. The repellent responses rates of H. parallela were 100% for cinnamon oil; however, only 67% of adult beetles avoided peppermint and eucalyptus oil in the Y-tube olfactometer bioassay. In the field tests, the least damage to leaves was observed on trees treated with cinnamon oil, whereas the most damage was observed in the control (non-treated) trees and those treated with peppermint oil, followed by eucalyptus and pine oil. Therefore, cinnamon oil can be used as a repellent to avoid damage form large black chafers in organic pear orchards.

The efficacy of different control techniques against the large black chafer, Holotrichia parallela Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), in organic pear (Pyrus pyrifolia) orchards was evaluated. In this study, field trials were conducted in three locations in Korea-Naju, Hampyeong, and Boseong-to evaluate different techniques to suppress these beetles. Pheromone traps, bio-insecticides (Hongmengye and Melchungdaejang), and a combination of the two were applied as treatments. In Naju, Hampyeong, and Boseong, the highest number of adult H. parallela were caught in the control plots (n=45, n=39, and n=20, respectively), while the fewest were caught in the pheromone plus bio-insecticide plot (n=19) in Naju and in the combined treatment plot in Hampyeong (n=10). In Naju, the greatest leaf damage was observed in the control (66%), and in all locations (Naju, Boseong, and Hampyeong), the least damage occurred in the combined treatment plots (42%, 36%, and 24%, respectively). Regarding the tree canopy, the greatest leaf damage was observed in the upper canopy, and less damage was observed in the lower canopy. These results demonstrate that the combination of sex pheromone traps and bio-insecticides can be used to manage H. parallela in organic pear orchards.
우리나라에서 분리한 참다래 궤양병균 Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae 균주들의 Biovar

Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae는 참다래에 궤양병을 일으키는 원인세균이다. 이 병원균 집단은 분자적 특성에 따라 biovar 1, 2, 3로 나누어진다. 본 연구에서는 1997년부터 우리나라에서 분리되어 순천대학교 생물학과에 보관 중인 P. syringae pv. actinidiae 균주들의 biovar를 기존에 발표된 biovar에 특이적인 PCR primers를 사용하여 동정하였다. 전체 682개 균주 중 biovar 2에 속한 균주가 288개, biovar 3에 속한 균주가 394개였다. 그러나 우리나라에서 분리된 균주 중 biovar 1에 속하는 균주는 없었다. Biovar 3 균주에 의한 궤양병의 갑작스러운 발생과 확산은 이 균주가 빠른 전파력을 가지고 있음을 말해준다. Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae is the causative agent of bacterial canker of kiwifruit. The population of this pathogen is differentiated into three biovars, biovar 1, 2 and 3, according to their molecular characteristics. In this work, we determined biovars of P. syringae pv. actinidiae strains isolated in Korea since 1997 and stored in Department of Biology, Sunchon National University, Suncheon, Korea. The biovars of P. syringae pv. actinidiae strains were determined by PCR using biovar specific primers developed previously. Of 682 strains investigated, 288 strains belonged to biovar 2, while 394 strains were biovar 3. There were no P. syringae pv. actinidiae strains belonging to biovar 1 among the strains isolated in Korea. Sudden outbreak and spreading of bacterial canker caused by biovar 3 strain suggest that this strain has character of rapid transmission.
