The increasing dynamic and distributed nature of a business and manufacturing environment makes it hard to collaborate between design and manufacturing parties. The seamless collaboration necessitates a manufacturing quote service (MQS) that delivers manufacturing quotes timely for designer’s requests. After envisioning a SOA-inherited collaboration framework, the paper details MQS’ functionalities, and syntax and semantics of collaboration messages (i.e., RFQ and manufacturing quote). The MQS is implemented as a Web Service so as to be accessible by designers. For each RFQ, the MQS adaptively generates a responding manufacturing quote by using the DPM library and real-time shop status information. The paper also presents an evolution process that shows the whole process of RQF generation from given product design data. The proposed framework enabled partners to exchange engineering data rapidly and adaptively during the dynamic collaboration, and also increased the benefits of distributed and global production.

Modeling and simulation of human-involved complex systems pose challenges to representing human decision makings into logical systems because of the nondeterministic and dynamic nature of human behaviors. In modeling perspectives, human’s activities in systems can increase uncertainty and complexity, because he or she can potentially access all other resources within the system and change the system states. To address all of these human involvements in the system, this research suggests applying the Finite State Automata (FSA)-based formal modeling of human-involved systems that incorporates the ecological concept of affordances to an evacuation simulation, so that human behavioral patterns under urgent and dynamic emergency situations can be considered in the real-time simulation. The proposed simulation methodologies were interpreted using the warehouse fire evacuation simulation to clarify the applicability of the proposed methodology. This research is expected to merge system engineering technologies and human factors, and come out to the new predictive modeling methodology for disaster simulations. This research can be applied to a variety of applications such as building layout designs and building access control systems for emergency situations.
한옥의 보급을 위한 BIM 통합설계프로세스의 적용에 관한 기초적 연구

Han-ok has recently gained in popularity based on the recent trend of maintaining and expanding Korean traditional culture. In order to supply and industrialize modernized Han-ok, it is necessary to set-up the standardized information system and design process for Han-ok. Moreover, architectural design process has been changed from 2D-based to BIM-based in recent year. BIM-based design process can support high utility and efficiency in architectural design as it provides visualized detail data by utilizing environmental and energy performance analysis as well as 3D modeling. Therefore, the aim of this study is to figure out adaptability and efficiency of Han-ok and BIM-based design process, by suggesting a case study through modeling applied to BIMbased design process and environmental analysis in the pre-design.
