This study estimates the impacts of thoroughbred characteristics on the probability of sale (i.e., success in finding sale price) as well as on hammer price (i.e., auction sale price). Concerning the possible correlation between sale success probability and sale price level, we attempted to estimate a Heckman type sample selection model. Because it turned out that the correlation was not significant, we estimated the mechanism of auction success and that of price determination separately as well. Most of the characteristics including age, color, sex and pedigree were found to be significantly affecting both the probability of sale and the sale price level. Besides, whether a horse was listed by Korea Racing Authority (KRA) was the most influential factor of sale success probability. This finding implies that the general non-KRA breeders have to make a strategic decision making when they choose auction markets to participate in.
움직이는 풍경: 인간과 컴퓨터의 상호작용적 예술의 자율성에 대한 고찰

본 연구는 상호작용성과 자율성의 개념을 재고함으로서, 인간과 컴퓨터의 상호작용적 예술에서 인터렉션 디자인의 새로운 지평을 제시하고자 한다. 인간과 컴퓨터의 상호작용적 예술은 상호작용성과 자율성에 기반 하며, 상호작용성은 `자율적인 인간과 자율적인 컴퓨터 사이의 대화` 로 정의될 수 있다. 상호작용성의 진화는 컴퓨터의 자율성 증대에 기인하고, 자율성은 `자신의 규칙과 법칙에 따라 행동할 수 있는 능력`을 의미한다. 칸트는 자율성이 도덕적 선을 추구할 수 있는 자기-결정력이며, 이는 인간만이 지닐 수 있다고 정의했다. 그러나 컴퓨터 공학의 발전으로 보다 정교하고 세련된 자율성을 지닌 컴퓨터의 등장은 전통적인 자율성 개념을 모호하게 만들고 있다. 컴퓨터의 자율성을 적극 활용하는 인간과 컴퓨터의 상호작용적 예술은 주체와 대상의 이분법적 구분을 따르는 전통적인 자율성 개념을 해체하며, 기술의 본질에 대한 물음을 통해 인간이 보다 자유로워 질 수 있는 사유의 방식을 촉구함으로서, 인간과 컴퓨터의 상호작용적 예술에서 인터렉션 디자인의 철학적 미학적 의미를 확장한다. This study suggests a new horizon of Interaction design of the Human-Computer Interactive Art through the reconsideration of the concept of interactivity and autonomy. The interactivity can be defined a conversation between an autonomous computer and human. The evolution of interaction depends on the degree of computer`s autonomy. The autonomy means an ability of self-determining based on the own law and rule. Immanuel Kant described it as a judgment for moral goodness in human figure. The Human-Computer Interactive Art, however, reconstructs the traditional dichotomy; human and non-human, subject and object. Therefore, it questions a essence of technology for a more free relation between human and technology, and leads us to the philosophical and aesthetical meaning`s expansion of the interaction design in the Human-Computer interactive art.

This study is to implement an efficiency analysis for agricultural cooperatives in terms of financial statement by considering rural and urban type of agricultural cooperatives separately. The DEA method for the efficiency analysis based on a directional distance function is used, and the directional vectors are designed to be selected endogenously within the model. As the input variables, labor cost, operational cost, extension services cost, and invested capital are used, and the performances of marketing services and banking services are involved as the output variables. The result shows that the average inefficiency of urban type is more than the one of rural type. It is attributed from which the degree of inefficiency from the marketing services of urban type cooperatives is greater than the one of rural type cooperatives. This implies that the enlargement of marketing services should be required in both types of cooperatives, especially the urban type cooperatives need to expand the marketing services more than the rural type cooperatives. As for the input aspect, the inefficient use of extension services cost deserve attention, because the inefficiency of the extension services is not only higher compared to that of the other input variables, but also dispersed by cooperatives. Thus, the study suggests that an appropriate measure for the use of extension services cost should be considered for the improvement of efficiency.
기후변화가 지역별 농업생산 선택에 미치는 영향분석: Dirichlet 회귀분석모형의 개발 및 적용

In this study, we investigate the impacts of climate change on crop choice and derive the economic value of climate change in the agricultural sector using actual regional-level production data from Korea. The analyzed determinants of farmland allocation are climate variables; crop-specific characteristics, such as net price; and other region-specific variables, including environmental and socio-economic variables. In order to incorporate the fractional nature of land share variables, we employ a Dirichlet regression approach, which is a full maximum likelihood estimation method that explicitly takes into account the multivariate fractional structure of the data. Our estimation results identify the impacts of environmental and socio-economic variables on crop choice. The simulation under climate change scenarios shows that the currently dominating share of paddy rice will decrease due to climate change. Instead, the share of fruits will increase substantially, and the acreage of idle land will also increase as a result of climate change. The crop-mix-changing adaptation measure to climate change is likely to increase the total agricultural value-added because switching will occur toward crops with higher net income.

This study constructs a multiple error component Bayesian stochastic frontier model to analyze production efficiencies of Korean farm households incorporating farm heterogeneity. A sampled data set of 400 farms for the period 2008-2012 is used. The analysis combines a Bayesian random effect multilevel/hierarchical model with a panel data stochastic frontier model. The results show that the usual SFA models without incorporating producer heterogeneity substantially over-estimate the level and dispersion of farm technical inefficiencies. It is also found that incorporating producer heterogeneity into the production frontier reduces the contribution of technical efficiency change to productivity change significantly. The study identifies the sources of frontier heterogeneity using the constructed multiple error component Bayesian SFA model.
