For the patients with bladder dysfunction, measurement of urine volume inside the bladder is very critical to avoid bladder failure. In measuring urine volume inside a bladder, low-resolution 3D ultrasound images are widely used. However, urine volume estimation from 3D ultrasound images is prone to big errors and inconsistency because of low spatial resolution and low signal-to-noise ratio of ultrasound images. We developed a new robust volume estimation algorithm which is not computationally expensive. We tested the algorithm on a lab-built ultrasound bladder phantom and volunteers. The average error rate of the human bladder volume estimation was 5.9% which was better than the commercial machine.

We have been studied the effects of oxidant on the properties of Sr-ferrite magnets using mill scale for motor. The small-added (0.5 wt%) $NaNO_3$ oxidant improved significantly the degree of oxidation and the grindability of mill scale, and then highly enhanced the magnetic properties of anisotropic Sr-ferrite sintered magnets; such as the remanent flux density from 3.55 to 3.80 kG, the intrinsic coercivity from 2.75 to 3.22 kOe, and the maximum energy product from 2.90 to 3.45 MGOe.
Ba-페라이트/α-Al₂O₃/SiO₂ 자성박막에서 버퍼층의 역할

We have studied the role of α-Al₂O₃ buffer layer as a diffusion barrier in the Ba-ferrite/SiO₂ magnetic thin films for high-density recording media. In the interface of amorphous Ba-ferrite (1900-A-thick)/SiO₂ thin film during annealing, the interfacial diffusion started to occur at ~700 ℃. As the annealing temperature increased up to 800 ℃, the interfacial diffusion abruptly proceeded resulting in the high interface roughness and the deterioration of the magnetic properties. In order to control the interfacial diffusion at the high temperature, we introduced α-Al₂O₃ buffer layer (110-A-thick) in the interface of Ba-ferrite/SiO₂ thin film. During the annealing of Ba-ferrite/α-Al₂O₃/SiO₂ thin film even at ~800 ℃, the interface was very smooth. The magnetic properties, such as saturation magnetization and intrinsic coercivity, were also enhanced, due to the inhibition of interfacial diffusion by the α-Al₂O₃ buffer layer. Our study suggests that the α-Al₂O₃ buffer layer act as a useful interfacial diffusion barrier in the Ba-ferrite/SiO₂ magnetic thin films.

본 연구는 현재 국내에서 개발 중인 분산 형 고속철도 차량의 추진 제어장치를 구성하는 전력변환 반도체의 냉각에 초점을 두고 있다. 이 전력 변환 반도체의 열 부하는 약 40㎾ 정도로 추정되고 있으며, 사용 허용 온도인 100℃ 이하로 유지시키는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 이 연구의 실험을 위해 복합 단일 굴곡 휜-판형 열 교환기를 설계 및 제작하여 그 모델에 대한 성능을 평가하고 검증하였다. 그 결과 열 전달 계수가 2500~3000W/㎡K 정도면 10㎾의 열 부하를 충분히 냉각시킬 수 있다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었으며, 이 열교환기의 구조와 유량 등을 고려한 최적 설계를 통해 더 높은 효율의 냉각 장치를 개발한다면 다양한 산업분야에서의 응용을 기대할 수 있을 것이다. This research is a focus to cooling of an electric power conversion semiconductor that is composed of high-speed railway control device. Approximately, the semiconductor's heat flux is 10㎾ and the aim of study is maintaining the using permission temperature which is 100℃. For the study's experiments, It is designed and manufactured the double-wave fin in the heat exchanger, then performing the device. Consequently, if heat transfer coefficients are 2500~3000W/㎡K, the heat source are 10㎾ that can be cooled down enough. Through the optimum design for structure and flow rate of this heat exchanger, it is expected that can develop the higher efficiency cooling device. Also, it can solve such the various industrial as electronics, shipbuilding as well as high speed train.
