This demodex is a genus of parasitic mites, that live on sebaceous glands and hair follicles of mammals all over the world. However, the increasing number of demodex causes skin inflammations and damages, when being neglected, on cellular tissues, which may have a bad influence on skin. This study aimed to monitor the parasitic status of demodex living on the skin and examine the influence of applied glycolic acid, that one of chemical peelers, on reduction of demodex. The subjects were 15 women carrying with demodex, who agreed to participate in this study, in view of understanding on its purpose, among those living in metropolitan areas. Moreover, a split-face method of splitting the face for the experiment in half was used. For experiment group, skin care was given after 30% glycolic acid was applied on the left side of the face, whereas, for control group, skin care was given with no application of glycolic acid. Before and after the experiment, also, demodex was detected from 3 regions of the face. The experiment group showed considerably lower keratin (p<.0001) and sebum (p<.0001), roughness (p<.0001), pigment (p<.0001) variation, as well as the reduced population of demodex (p<.0001), with higher moisture (p<.0001), in comparison with the control group. After the experiment, the control group showed higher improvement in terms of skin texture, skin tone and pigmentation according to subjective evaluation, as compared with stinging, keratin and redness that were found in irritation evaluation. It also showed positive response to satisfaction and reuse intention after the experiment.

We examined the degree of microbial contamination of toothbrushes according to the storage method of toothbrush and used time. Microbial numbers at toothbrushes with fine bristles were higher than those at toothbrushes with typical bristles. It showed the toothbrushes with fine bristles contaminated by bacteria those of the toothbrushes with typical bristles. In all case of keeping in a UV sterilizer, bateria on toothbrushes was not detected, in all case of keeping in a cool and shady place like bathroom, microbial numbers on toothbrushes were 8.7×10 CFU/㎖ at the first day, 3.2×10 2 CFU/㎖ at the fourth day and 1.217×10 CFU/㎖ at the seventh day, and in all case of keeping in a plastic tub, were 1.273×10 CFU/㎖ at the first day, 8.937×10 CFU/㎖ at fourth day and 3.585×10 CFU/㎖ at seventh day. Keeping in a plastic tub is the way to increase microbial contamination of toothbrushes (p<0.05), and microbial numbers of keeping in a cool and shady place and a plastic tub increased significantly according to the used time (p<0.05). Based on the results, the most basic and essential way to prevent infectious diseases mediated by a toothbrush is a proper storage method and a regular replacement of toothbrush, toothbrush with fine bristles should be often replaced for prevention of microbial contamination.
