한국의 종교와 한국인 : A PROLEGOMENON TO A KOREAN HISTORY OF RELIGIONS

In general, previous research on the Korean history of religions had the tendency to focus on historical changes of individual religions. There has been no comprehensive study on the Korean history of religions which considered various religions in terms of both cross-sectional profiles of various religions and the historical transmission of religion over time. This paper attempts such a methodological approach. The writer has attempted this approach in a previous study [Chung Chin-Hong, Hangook Jonggyo Munhwa-eoi Jeongae (Historical Development of Korean Religions), Seoul, Jipmundang, 1986]. This paper reviews the process of Korean indigenous religions incorporating the ‘newness’ of foreign religions with a view to demonstrating the fact that such process has molded a sense of syncretism in the religious disposition of the Korean people. Their fundamental religious ethos is oriented towards experience of heaven and quest for power. The former strives for the normative ideal, whereas the latter seeks actual utility. The interlocking conflicts and co-existence of these two notions have contributed to the development of what is a uniquely Korean religious experience, while serving as a filtering process in the acceptance of alien religions. The introduction of a foreign religion would infuse newness into the religious culture which the indigenous religions lacked. The mythos of Buddhism, the natura of Taoism, the logos of Confucianism and the theos of Christianity are examples of this newness. A foreign religion becomes relevant to the needs of Korean society by emphasizing specific subjects. In the process, adoption of a religion by the Korean religious culture depends on the dictates of the times and inter-religious conversions are freely exercised. It is also possible to develop an absolute faith in the imported religion. On the negative side, this syncretistic religious style may be attributed to market-oriented pragmatism. On the other hand, this attitude can be interpreted as indicating the creative motivation of the Korean religious culture. Korean religious syncretism has been undergoing continuous evolution. It is difficult, however, to make a prediction about for how long this syncretism will last or how it will evolve in the future. Perhaps more emphasis should be placed on the interpretive understanding of data rather than actual changes under the current situation where changes are inevitable.

Thermal and wind panels are installed on offshore oil and gas platforms to protect personnel, equipment and structures. However, in general, panels are designed and manufactured through trial and error based on performance tests. For this reason, it is difficult to develop and design a heat sink in the Korean shipbuilding and offshore equipment industry due to the lack of performance test data and limited experience. In this study, the experimental results performed to verify the performance of the thermal and wind panels were analyzed, and the characteristics and performance characteristics of the thermal and wind panels were investigated. The conclusions drawn from this study will be useful in terms of the design and development of shielding.

Leakages of advanced industrial technologies to overseas markets have been broadened from electrical and electronics engineering, and telecommunications to all industries including automobile, shipbuilding,chemicals, and mechanics. Companies, universities, and research institutes consider protecting such technologies from leakages as a matter of survival. Therefore, this research focused on the facts of increase in the leakages of advanced industrial technologies, and as the seriousness of such leakages are more recognized, the role and function of technical security to prevent the leakages.

융합보안에 있어서 스마트폰 기능의 과학적 적용에 관한 연구

Smartphone is advancing and evolving every day. In the coming years, it will generate more information assets and will be utilized, just like computers were used through mobile communication. As all information becomes digitalized, the information storage medium is becoming more diverse. Domestic companies are quickly responding to such a rapid change in technology by entering the smartphone market or using smartphones for business. Various features of smartphones dramatically changed our lives within a short period of time. To this day, many changes are occurring and evolving through smartphones such as new ways of social networking and increasing the value of sharing information. Therefore, this thesis researched on the role and application of the scientific use of the features of smartphone by improving various systems or methods of the existing physical security and convergence in security.

스마트 물 서비스를 위한 용수 통합관리 Framework 제언

깨끗하고 안전한 먹는물을 공급하고자 하는 시대적 요구에 상수도 시설 투자가 지속되고 있다. 또한, 저탄소 녹색성장이 최근 전 세계의 화두로 제기되면서 상수도 분야에서도 스마트 그리드 개념을 도입하여 상수원 관리, 정수처리, 배수 및 급수 단계에 대하여 체계적인 관리를 통해 상수도의 효율 및 안전성을 향상시키고, 상수의 생산, 공급 정보를 최적화하는 시도를 하고 있다. 스마트 워터 그리드는 상수원, 취·정수, 공급, 처리 및 재이용 등 물관리 분야에 ICT 융합 기술을 적용하여 물의 생산, 공급, 재이용 및 관리를 일원화하여 통합 관리함으로써, 안전하고 지능적인 관리 체계의 개념으로 정의할수 있다. 이와 같이 스마트 그리드 개념을 도입함으로써 수요/공급자 간의 실시간 가격, 탄소 배출량, 스마트 센서 등의 통합 정보지식을 공유하고, 공급자 및 수요자 간 양방향 정보교환을 통해 피크타임에서 상수 수요를 경감시키는 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 또한, 취수, 정수, 배수설비의 이용 효율이 높아지고 신규 상수도 시설 건설 감소로 물 절약과 동시에 비용을 절감할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

Profiles of Contemporary Korean Religions: The Emergence of Neo-Ethnicity

This paper describes the religious culture of contemporary Korea. It rejects both the causal-normative debate of a standard historical approach and the hegemonic-normative debate of a cultural approach, attempting instead to synthesize facts that are made apparent by the present state. Based on the premise that Korea’s religious culture is in a multireligious state, I conceptualize the types of extant religions into central religions, which are deeply rooted in tradition, and peak religions, which exercise direct influence on contemporary society, to examine these religions’ intersecting teachings on peak-oriented and center-oriented attitudes. Then, I examine how relationships with political authority are formed based on understandings of contemporariness. A religion’s perception of its relations with politics can change depending on whether it considers contemporariness as a monoreligious, multireligious, or multicultural condition. Presently, however, the strata of each religion’s situational perception have been significantly and chaotically convoluted. Finally, I point out that religions are showing qualities of new ethnicity. I highlight the resulting inevitable inabilities of religions to communicate and the exclusion they derive, as well as the dynamism of exclusion, upon which religions build their trade value through mega growth, extremity, and convenience in the current state of multicultural markets.
