The purpose of this study is to provide basic materials for establishing DWI deterrence policy by analysing the effectiveness of punishment. Data of 640 drivers` written opinion of investigation from Gumjung police station in 2006. This study analysed the effectiveness of fine with abidance duration and compared effectiveness of fine and imprisonment. For these analysis, multiple regression model and Analysis of Covariance(ANCOVA) method were conducted. The results of these analysis were as follows. First, multiple regression model showed that fine to the DWI offenders didn`t have a deterrence effectiveness. And the more fine was sentenced, the shorter was abidance duration. Second, the result of ANCOVA showed that imprisonment was more effective than fine in DWI deterrence. The abidance duration of imprisonment was longer by two times than that of fine. These study results suggested a policy implications. A renewed regulation must be passed to make possible a short-term imprisonment(e.g., 2-3 days on weekend) for DWI, especially for chronic DWI offenders, which will be able to reduce recidivism rates of DWI. This study had two major limitations. First, socioeconomic variables such as education level, marriage status, and economic condition were not controlled. Second, the study area was constrained to only one city, which put restraint on generalization of the study results. Nevertheless, this study made valuable contributions in that analysing the deterrence effectiveness of fine and imprisonment.

Paradoxical embolism is a kind of stroke caused by embolism of thrombus of venous origin through a lateral opening in the heart, such as a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Although the most frequent manifestation of paradoxical embolism is cryptogenic stroke, noncerebral paradoxical embolism is also associated with PFO. We experienced a case of cryptogenic renal infarction in a previously healthy 70-year-old man. He had no cardiac thrombus on transthoracic echocardiography and electrocardiogram revealed a normal sinus rhythm. Because it was cryptogenic renal infarction, we performed transesophageal echocardiography with microbubble test. Microbubble test using agitated saline proved the presence of right-to-left shunt and patent foramen ovale was diagnosed. We also performed lower leg doppler ultrasonogram, but there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis. Although only the presence of a right-to-left shunt is not enough to establish the diagnosis of paradoxical embolism, it is uncommon for the source of the embolism to be identified. In this case, we concluded that paradoxical embolism is the cause of renal embolism. We report paradoxical renal embolism through PFO with review of relevant literatures.

The purpose of this study is to develop an infant-centered STEAM play that is made into a narrative. This study solved STEAM play, in which infants create narratives together, as an expressive play led by infants, and organized around cases. It aimed to establish a teaching and learning practice plan that can lead to high interest in play and learning and creative thinking for young children, and researchers and field teachers at early childhood education institutions developed the program by converging art, science, and engineering as a member of a professional joint learning community. As a result, ‘slides in space’, ‘symbols of art, various types of towers’, ‘why does it sound different? Sound sculptures, imagination and connection, doors as boundaries, and sound and motion, meeting acoustic engineering, and polyartists were developed. In addition, field support materials for early childhood education such as teaching and learning guidebooks, infant workbooks, narrative media contents, and PPT for teachers were developed and distributed. In this study, the direction, practice, and implications of how to solve early childhood STEAM education in the early childhood and play-oriented curriculum aimed at the 2019 revised Nuri course were proposed. 본 연구는 내러티브로 만들어가는 유아 중심 STEAM 놀이를 개발하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 유아가 함께 내러티브를 만들어가는 STEAM 놀이를 유아가 주도하는 발현적 놀이로 풀어냈으며, 사례 중심으로 정리하였다. 유아에게 놀이와 배움에 관한 높은 관심과 창의적 사고를 이끌어낼 수 있는 교수학습 실천방안 구축을 목표하였으며, 연구진과 유아교육기관 현장교사들이 전문적 공동학습체 일원으로 예술과 과학 및 공학을 융합하여 프로그램을 개발하였다. 그 결과, ‘공간 속 미끄럼틀’, ‘예술의 상징, 다양한 형태의 탑’, ‘왜 다르게 들릴까? 소리조형물’, ‘상상과 연결고리, 경계로써 문’, ‘소리와 동작, 음향공학의 만남, 폴리아티스트’ 놀이를 개발하였다. 또한 교수학습 가이드북, 유아용 워크북, 내러티브 미디어 콘텐츠, 교사용 PPT 등 유아교육 현장 지원 자료 개발하여 보급하였다. 본 연구에서는 2019 개정 누리과정에서 지향하는 유아·놀이 중심 교육과정에서 유아 STEAM 교육을 어떻게 풀어낼 수 있을지에 대한 방향성과 실제 및 시사점을 제안하였다.
