Feasibility of simultaneous removal of organic materials and nitrogen in the wastewater from fisheries processing plant was evaluated using entrapped mixed microbial cell (EMMC) process. The experiment was performed using activated sludge from municipal sewage treatment plant which was immobilized with gel matrix by cellulose triacetate. It was found the stable operation at the treatment system which is composed of anoxic and oxic tank, was possible when the organic and nitrogen loading rates were increased stepwise. The organic and nitrogen loading rates were conducted from 0.65 to 1.72 ㎏COD/m3/d and from 0.119 to 0.317 ㎏ T-N/m3/d with four steps, respectively. The maximum nitrogen loading rate which could satisfy the regulated effluent standard of nitrogen concentration, was 0.3 ㎏ T-N/m3/d. The removal efficiency of total nitrogen was decreased apparently as increasing nitrogen loading rates, whereas the removal efficiency of ammonium nitrogen was effective at the all tested nitrogen loading rates. Therefore, it was concluded that nitrification was efficient at the system. Nitrate was removed efficiently at the anoxic tank. whereas the nitrification efficiency at the oxic tank ranged 94.0% to 96.9% at the tested loading rates. The removal efficiencies of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and those of total nitrogen at the entire system ranged from 94.2% to 96.6% and 73.4% to 83.4%, respectively.

A straight rectangular fin with fixed fin base height is analysed and optimized using the two-dimensional separation of variables method. The effects of fin base length and fin tip length on the fin base temperature is listed. The optimum heat loss and fin effectiveness are presented as a function of fin base length. The optimum heat loss, fin effectiveness and fin tip length are shown as a function of Biot number. One of the results shows that the optimum heat loss increases continuously while both the optimum fin effectiveness and fin tip length decrease rapidly first and then decreases slowly as Biot number increases.

Feasibility of simultaneous removal of organic and nitrogen is evaluated as applying microbial entrapping method to treat fish processing wastewater. Treatability test is conducted immobilizing activated sludge from municipal sewage treatment plant to gel matrix made of cellulose triacetate. Stable operation can be possible when applying organic and nitrogen loading rate increasingly to wastewater treatment system composed of anoxic and oxic tank. Organic loading rate and nitrogen loading rate are applied 0.65-1.72kg COD/㎥/d and 0.119-0.317kg T-N/㎥/d, respectively. In case of wastewater from fish processing plant used in this study, it is evaluated that 0.3kg T- N/㎥/d is upper limit of applicable space loading rate because effluent T-N concentration is exceed 60mg/L, legal effluent dishargeable limit of T-N concentration in Korea, when space loading rate is exceed 0.3kg T-N/㎥/d. It is evaluated that nitrification of system is performed efficiently regardless fo variation of applied loading rate because removal efficiency of NH_(4)^(+)-N is relatively constant when the applied NH_(4)^(+)-N loading rate is increased gradually, while decrease of T-N removal efficiency is apparent when the applied loading rate is increased gradually. Nitrate removal efficiency in this study is varied from 98.62% to 99.51% depending on applied loading rate, while nitrification efficiency of oxic reactor is varied from 94.0% to 96.9%. It is showed that COD removal efficiency is varied from 94.2% to 96.6% and T-N removal efficiency is varied from 73.4% to 83.4% depending on loading rate applied in this study.

Voltage of radiometer is measured experimentally using the radiation apparatus in each case of iron- and copper-plates as specimen heating device. The length between radiometer and conical shield and the temperature of specimen heating device are considered as variables. The length between radiometer and conical shield controls the amount of radiation from the specimen heating device. Emissivity for both iron-and copper-plates are calculated by using Stefan-Boltzmann equation. One of results shows that emissivity for both materials increases as the length between radiometer and conical shield increase.

The purpose of this study was to clarify an psychological satisfaction of exercise for young childrens. The subjects 5-6years(n=210) engaged in touchball for 20 minutes. During that period, both amount of their exercise and joy dervier from the physical activities were measured. The amount of exercise was measured by pedometers As the results, it was deteced that during the 20minutes, the amount of exercise raged approximately from 1,200 to 1,800 in terms of pedometer count, and the degree of active group' s(A group)joy at that time was more than passvise group(B group). The results of this study suggest that the pedometer might be a valid indicator of the daily physical activity. The findings are discussed in terms of the practical applications of the pedometer in the research of daily physical activity.
