Selenium is an essential biological trace element in mammals and adults should be intake 100 μg per day. Selenium is inserted into selenoproteins as selenocysteine (Sec), which is encoded by the UGA “STOP” codon in open reading frame. The translational process for selenoproteins in mammals is achieved by various components, such as the selenocysteineinsertion- sequence (SECIS) in the untranslated region of mRNA, the SECIS-binding protein SBP2, the Sec-specific translation factor EF-Sec, and the Sec-specific tRNASec. Generally, most selenoproteins including glutathione peroxidase and thioredoxin reductase exhibit antioxidant function to protect cells from oxidative stress. In addition, thyroxine deiodinase plays an important role in the control of thyroid hormone metabolism. These results indicate that the adequate diet of selenium is essential for maintaining redox status and hormone. On the other hand, a deficiency intake of selenium shows Keshan`s disease (cardiomyopathy), Kashin-Beck disease (osteoarthritis), white muscle disease, and cretinism as well as an excessive intake of selenium results in toxic symptoms, including blind staggers and alkaline diseases. Therefore, an adequate intake of selenium is necessary to maintain in vivo function. The aim of this review is to discuss the role of selenium in vivo.

Bone is the only solid organ and serves as a mechanical support and a reservoir of minerals. Bone homeostasis is achieved by the balance between bone-forming osteoblasts and bone-resorbing osteoclasts. Osteoblasts, which are derived from mesenchymal stem cells, secrete bone matrix proteins and promote mineralization. Otherwise, osteoclasts are derived from hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) that are capable of differentiating into all immune cells and resorb bone matrix by acid decalcification and proteolytic degradation. Osteobalsts and osteoclasts are an important role in the regulation of HSC niche and development, showing that bone remodeling was linked to hematopoietic regulation. Long-lived memory T and B cells and bone cells coexist in the bone marrow reservoir as well as activated T cells that mediate adaptive immune system and osteoclasts that regulate bone turnover share a common molecules that are essential for their development and differentiation. In addition, activated T cell-expressed RANKL directly stimulates osteoclastogenesis. Accumulating evidence indicates that there is the interplay between the immune-related cells and bone remodeling-related cells. This review will discuss the osteoimmunology, an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the cross-talk between bone and the immune cells.
리파제를 이용한 모노글리세리드의 선택적 합성에 관한 연구

리파제 존재하에서 글리세롤과 메틸스테아레이트의 에스테르 교환반응을 유기용매 중에서 수행함으로써 디글리세리드(DG)의 생성을 2% 이하로 억제하면서 60% 이상의 전환율로 모노글리세리드(MG)를 합성할 수 있었다. 다양한 리파제를 검토한 결과, porcine pancreatic lipase (PPL)가 본 반응에는 최적인 것으로 나타났으며, 기질 및 PPL의 농도, 반응온도 등을 변화시키면서 반응성 및 반응 선택성의 측면에서 최적인 조건을 선정하였다. 또한 다양한 지방산의 메틸에스테르 화합물을 본 반응에 적용한 결과, 반응성은 지방산의 입체적 구조와 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 사슬의 길이가 짧을수록 MG로의 초기 반응속도는 증가하나 DG로의 전환 역시 빨라지기 때문에 결과적으로 MG의 선택성은 저하되는 것으로 나타났다. In the presence of lipase, transesterification reaction of methyl stearate with glycerol was conducted in an organic solvent. Monoglyderide (MG) was obtained with a conversion reaching 60% while suppressing formation of diglyceride(DG) under2%. Porcine pancrestic lipase(PPL) was found to exhibit the most outstanding reactivity. Variation of substrated, concentration of PPL and reaction temperature led us to determine and optimum reaction condition in terms of reactivity and reaction selectivity. Employment of a series of methyl ester compounds of fatty acid suggested that ractivity is closely related to 3-dimensional structure. We have observed that shorter chains increase initial reaction rates towards MG, and conversion to DG as well as, as a result of which selectivity of MG decreases.
H_{\infty} Control Synthesis for Power System Design using LMI Optimization Method

This paper presents the application of H$\infty$ control synthesis using LMI optimization method to power system stabilizer(PSS) design. Since power system is usually operated under circumstance of unmeasurable uncertainties and external disturbances, the improvement of small signal stability becomes one of the most important issue for securing system stability and preventing low frequency oscillation phenomena. The LMI optimized H$\infty$ PSS provides robust performance and guarantees the internal stability under these operating conditions. The global optimal H$\infty$ norm is found using LMI convex optimization method which is more systematic than standard two Riccati solution method. The design results are simulated for a case study. We verified that the LMI method shows the best performance characteristic smong standard Riccati method and conventional lead/lag method.
Infiltrating Epidural Angiolipoma Involving Lumbar Spine

비교적 드문 침습형 경막 외 척추 혈관 지방종을 경험하였기에 보고하고자 한다. 척추 혈관 지방종은 주로 흉추부에 호발하며 침습형의 경우에도 요추부보다 흉추부에 잘 이환된다. 특히 요추부에 이환된 침습형 경막 외 척추 혈관 지방종은 극히 드물다. 증례는 침습형 척추 혈관 지방종이 제4 요추체에 이환된 심한 요통 및 하지방사통으로 내원한 52세 여자 환자로 수술적 치료로 제4-5 후궁 절제술 및 종양 절제술을 시행하였다. 환자는 수술적으로 치료하였으며 만족스러운 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 척추 혈관 지방종은 수술적 치료로 좋은 결과를 얻을 수 있는 양성의 경과를 가진다. We report on an unusual case with infiltrating extradural spinal angiolipoma. Most spinal angiolipomas involve the thoracic spine and infiltrating ones are also located mainly at the thoracic levels rather than lumbar lesion. In particular, there are few cases of lumbar extradural infiltrating type spinal angiolipoma. One case is that of a 52-year-old female with infiltrating extradural spinal angiolipoma involving lumbar 4 (L4) vertebra, who underwent a L4?5 laminectomy and surgical removal of the tumor. We achieved satisfactory results with surgical treatment of the patient. Spinal angiolipoma has a benign course with a good postoperative outcome.

최근 자동차와 같이 움직이는 장치에 부착된 태양광 모듈에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 이동식 태양광모듈 장치는 건물이나 기타 수목 그림자에 수시로 노출되는바 그에 따른 효율감소가 발생한다. 이에 본 논문은 어떠한 환경에서도 Maximum Power를 빠른 속도로 찾아 효율감소를 저감하는 방안을 강구하고자 한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 일사량에 따른 태양광 모듈의 VㆍI곡선에서 MPPT를 함에 V 인자와 I 인자로 구분하여 트래킹 타임 스텝을 가변 설정하여 기존의 방식보다 우수한 동특성을 갖는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 구조의 타당성과 우수성을 검증하였다.
