Due to the complexity of crane related load estimation and design, process for steel factory has seldom been effectively automated and the adequate design program cannot be easily found. So the design of steel factory mainly depends on the sophisticated calculation by structural engineers. Along with the increasing needs of the largescale factory, the structural design of the factory has required a lot of time and effort in engineering practice. Moreover, because the greater part of the programs currently used in the structural design field have specified functions that are not directly linked to each other, it is likely to cause quite a few errors and reduce efficiency. In this study, the Steel Structure integrated system(SSis) has been developed to integrate the modeller, analysis and post-processor for the steel factory. This program includes a powerful pre-and post-processor through Graphic User Interface(GUI) from the windows 95 platform. and the object-oriented programming is employed to manage the overall process effectively. This program is supposed to update the structural design procedure and contribute to the development of construction technology.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the seismic performance of Hybrid Castellated Beam(HCB)-to-column connection. Contrary to convectional castellated beam, HCB had many advantages; design flexibility of opening, reduction of cutting and welding length and so on. However, castellated beam or cellular beam had been adopted as simple beam rather than girder of steel moment frame. Since 1994 Northridge earthquake and 1995 Kobe earthquake, many researches had bean conducted toward fracture prevention of steel moment connection. Reduced web connection similar to reduced beam section was proposed as steel special moment frame connection in FEMA 350. Seismic performance qualification tests of large scale HCB-to-column connections were conducted according to the qualifying procedures of KBC2009.

The elasto-plastic behavior of cellular beams was investigated using elasto-plastic finite element analysis (FEA). The finite element analysis was carried out using ANSYS. The finite element model used in this study was based on the beam section with the opening diameter, D0, of 400㎜, giving the pitch of opening/the opening diameter ratio S/D0 of 1.08 to 1.50. In this study, a total of ten cellular beams under cyclic loading was investigated.
