경유의 세탄가를 향상시켜 주는 새로운 구조의 세탄가향상제를 화학적으로 합성하고 이들의 유도 세탄가 측정을 통하여 경유연료의 세탄가 향상 효과를 기존 사용 첨가제인 2-EHN과 비교하였다. 새로이 합성한 후보물질들은 22-28%의 산소함량을 갖는 산소계 화합물로서 백색 고체 또는 무색의 오일형태로 얻어졌으며 경유에 대해 우수한 용해성을 나타내었다. 베이스 경유에 동일한 함량을 첨가하였을 때 기존 사용 첨가제인 2-EHN 대비 2배 이상의 매우 우수한 세탄가 향상효과를 나타냄을 확인할 수 있었으며 또 기존 첨가제에 혼합하여 사용하는 경우에도 세탄가가 크게 향상되는 효과를 나타내었다.

Because of high global warming index (GWI=1300) caused by R-134a refrigerants, isobutane (R-600A, GWI=3) are expected to be acceptable alternative refrigerants in Europe. Synthetic ester oils were used as refrigerating oils for R-134a refrigerant, however, hydrocarbon-based oils for R-600A refrigerant are more effective as refrigerating oils. Thus, in this paper, new refrigerating oils of ISO VG 10 grade for R-600A refrigerant were developed by blending the mixture of paraffin oils and were evaluated by compressor durability tests.

In order to resist the scratch of fuel rod surface while fabricating fuel assembly for light-water nuclear reactor, nitrocellulose as a dry lubricant, which is an explosive material, and its solvent to dissolve have been used so far. However, there is an increased demand to develop the safe and harmless aqueous alternate materials for environmental conservation and field-workers safety. This study demonstrated that a novel aqueous resin composite was prepared with formulation of aqueous polymeric resin and alcoholic solvent and water, which was subsequently characterized with hardness, adhesive property, and solubility for water using some plate similar with the fuel rod materials. The insertion test of fuel rod coated with YS-3 composite showed the load values of 18.8-20.5 kg/cm², which is comparable with 18.0-20.5 kg/cm² of nitrocellulose coating agent. In addition, the depth and width of longitudinal scratches caused by the test using YS-3 composite was 50% better than those of standard. We could develop harmless and safe aqueous dry lubricant to replace the existing NC products through field demonstration testing 264 pieces of fuel rods after producing 350 kg of YS-3 prototype.

Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have been attracting significant and growing interest as the lubricants, owing to their intrinsic useful properties such as good thermal stability, negligible vapor pressure, good low temperature properties, good flame retardant properties. In this study, several imidazolium-based ionic liquids, 3-alkyl-1-alkylimidazolium tetrafluoroborates, hexafluorophosphonates, trifluoromethane sulfonates, and bis(trifluoromethanesulfoimide), were synthesized. The physical properties of synthetic RTILs such as kinematic viscosity, RI, thermal properties were evaluated and their tribological behaviors of 4-ball WSD and friction properties as the lubricants were evaluated.

The scratch test for the rod surface showed that weight of chip of YS-3 prototype was smaller than that of NC before and after solvent treatment, indicating the properties of YS-3 prototype was comparable to the counterpart.

In this paper we prepard nano-fluids by dispersing nano grahpite in oil. In order to disperse graphite into oil we esterified the nano graphite manufacutred by our company with various types of alcohol And we evaluation thermal conductivity and friction/wear characteristics. We found that this nano-fluids increase thermal conductivity and decrease friction/wear.

A large number of additives have been used with the efforts of improving the performance of lubricants used along with the development of internal combustion engine. In this study, nano-sized graphite was used as liquid-lubricant additive. In order to disperse graphite into oil, we esterified the nano-carbon manufactured by our company with various types of alcohol. After measuring the anti-wear in accordance with the types of alcohol and added concentration, it has been found that its anti-wear/friction decrease has been improved in case of adding 0.1% of the sample composed with C12/14 mixed alcohol & hexadecanol.
