Jet impingement on a moving plate, which is applicable to cooling of hot metals in a steel-making process, is investigated numerically by solving the Navier-Stokes equations in the liquid and gas phases. The liquid-gas interface or free surface is tracked by a level-set method which is improved by incorporating the ghost fluid approach based on a sharp-interface representation. The computations are made for multiple jets as well as a single jet to compare their flow characteristics. Also, the effects of the nozzle pitch, moving velocity of plate and jet velocity on the interfacial motion and the associated flow and temperature fields.

Flow boiling in a microchannel heat exchanger has received attention as an effective heat removal mechanism for high power-density microelectronics. Despite extensive experimental studies, the bubble dynamics coupled with boiling heat transfer in a microchannel heat exchanger is still not well understood due to the technological difficulties in obtaining detailed measurements of microscale two-phase flows. In this study, complete numerical simulations are performed to further clarify the dynamics of flow boiling in a microchannel heat exchanger. The level set method for tracking the liquid-vapor interface is modified to include the effects of phase change and contact angle and to treat an immersed solid surface. Based on the numerical results, the effects of modified channel shape on the bubble growth and heat transfer are quantified.
통계적 추정을 통한 로어 콘트롤 암 볼트 결합부 체결력 신뢰성 설계 방법

In a lower control arm, A-joint connected to a front subframe is a clevis type joint. Since a clevis type joint has an assembly tolerance between bracket and sleeve, bolt tightening torque should be designed carefully, considering the clamping load loss caused by assembly tolerance and frictional variables. In this study, a useful method to determine the bolt tightening torque for a clevis type joint of a car suspension is found out. First, experimental tests have been carried out to calculate the torque coefficient (or nut factor) and the overall friction coefficient to define the actual torque-tension relationship. Second, clamping load loss caused by assembly tolerance is evaluated both experimentally and numerically in order to shed light on the clamping load loss during the tightening. Finally, experiments to determine both friction coefficient and slip coefficient between bracket and sleeve are carried out and the meaning of both coefficients is compared and differentiated.

Optoelectronic properties of a phototransistor made from solution-processed amorphous InGaZn oxide (a-IGZO) were investigated. This wide bandgap metal oxide semiconductor is known for its optical transparency, yet it exhibits visible light absorption attributed to sub-gap states resulting from oxygen vacancies. The study found that depositing a thin layer of aluminum oxide (AlO<SUB>x</SUB>) on the transistor channel led to an increase of photocurrent in the visible spectrum. Additionally, surface treatment of the a-IGZO thin film with UV ozone reduced persistent photoconductivity at 450 nm. Analysis of the absorption coefficient and optical band gap indicated that the results were associated with changes in the oxygen vacancy states within the a-IGZO thin film. The ability to control photocurrent and persistent photoconductivity through the deposition of aluminum (Al) and UV ozone treatment opens up exciting possibilities for applications in photosensors and neuromorphic systems.

Automotive engineering students of Tongmyong University make the vehicle for participating ‘2015 BAJA SAE KOREA at Yeungnam University’. The most important part of our frame design are frame stability and light weight. The proven impact-beam was used to increase the stability of the vehicle structure and to reduce the body light weight. Body frame Made of impact beams can prove stability through the stress-strength analysis. Our SEC-Y we design of vehicles, which was aiming and best-quality vehicles last year, vehicle production also attempted to do. Therefore, Our off-load vehicle ‘TU - Success’ is well coincident with the purpose of ‘2015 BAJA SAE KOREA at Yeungnam University’.
