The purpose of the study is to understand the ecological characteristics of the early stage of community formation of epilithic diatoms. The samples were daily collected from a site of the Kumho River during 70 days from October 13 to December 21 in 2002. Total 126 diatom taxa collected in the study were classified into 114 species and 12 varieties belonging to 26 genera. About 80% of the taxa collected from the artificial substrata during the whole studying period were observed until tenth day from the start time of the study. In the study the successional process of the diatom community was divided into the three stages of the early, the middle and the later by cluster analysis based on the similarities in species composition among the communities. Cocconeis placentula Ehrenb. and C. placentula var. lineata (Ehrenb.) V.H., horizontally positioned species, would be divided into the early successional species, and Diatoma vulgre Bory, vertically positioned species, was the later successional species. Cell densities and species composition of the diatoms on the artificial substrata were closely similar to them of natural substrata after 40th day from the start time of the study.
국내 AERONET 관측 현황과 장기간 에어로졸 광학 깊이의 변화 및 에어로졸 분포 분석

This study analyzed the distribution of Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) Version 3 Level 2.0 data, spanning over two decades, across South Korea and its six administrative regions (Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gangwon, Gyeongsang, and Jeju). The research assessed long-term trends in aerosol optical depth (AOD) and mass concentration of particulate matter (i.e., PM<sub>10</sub> and PM<sub>2.5</sub>), using data from the AERONET direct sun product and AirKorea, respectively. Additionally, eight aerosol types were identified using the scattering Ångström exponent and absorption Ångström exponent from the AERONET inversion product. The study further explored their domestic and regional distributions. Findings indicated that AERONET data were predominantly concentrated in the western regions of South Korea, including the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and Jeolla, with a higher frequency of data in spring, thus demonstrating spatial and temporal heterogeneity. The annual average AOD exhibited a declining trend of -0.006 yr<sup>-1</sup>. Similarly, PM<sub>10</sub> and PM<sub>2.5</sub> mass concentrations decreased by -1.324 ㎍ m<sup>-3</sup> yr<sup>-1</sup> and -1.335 ㎍ m<sup>-3</sup> yr<sup>-1</sup>, respectively. These trends in AOD and PM<sub>10</sub> (PM<sub>2.5</sub>) demonstrated positive correlations, with correlation coefficients of 0.674 (0.753) and statistically significant low p-values of 0.00058 (0.03), respectively. The analysis also revealed that aerosols in South Korea predominantly consisted of black carbon (BC) or BC-mixed types (84.09%), with a notable presence of smaller, less absorbent aerosol types (13.11%).

우리 사회에는 생물다양성을 바라보는 매우 다양한 인식의 스펙트럼이 존재하고 있다. 극단적으로 동식물의 보전을 위해서 인간의 접근을 근원적으로 차단해야 한다고 주장에서부터, 동식물을 인류 발전의 도구나 수단으로 여겨, 인간을 위해서는 폭넓은 포획과 도축을 허용해야 한다는 주장에 이르기까지, 그 인식의 격차가 크지만 생물자원의 진정한 가치를 생각해 본다면 그 가치가 무한히 지속될 수 있을 것이다.

This paper describes a case study on dynamic characteristics analysis of a 3-axis micro milling machine for micro-factory. Natural frequency and corresponding vibration modes of the machine tool structure were obtained by using both FEM modal analysis and an experimental modal test (impulse hammer test). Both the theoretical and experiment analysis results showed good agreement with each other. Finally, some discussion and review, from the view point of resonance vibration and/or mode coupled chatter, were made based on the analysis results.

Nowadays, there are several design problem having discrete variables in the industrial fields. The researchers are using the optimization method, such as genetic algorithm (GA), simulated annealing (SA), design of experiment (DOE) and taguchi method (TM), to solve it's design problem. Moreover, people want to decrease the computational cost and time. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed the iterative optimization algorithm which repetitively searched a local region to find best solution in discrete searching space using TM. The optimal solution in each local region is obtained by S/N ratio for the evaluation function that consists of the objective function and penalty function. Also, we have applied our algorithm to 3-bar, 10-bar, and 25-bar truss optimization problem.

This paper describes a design program to generate feasible structural configurations of modular reconfigurable machine tool from some modules. This program includes module library which defines module posture vector for each module and mutual connectivity coefficient matrix for adjacent two modules. Our design method use cryptographic mapping. By using cryptographic mapping, all the structure modules can be encoded into binary codes and then stored the graphics and digital codes in the module library. We carried out cryptographic operating to create possible combined configurations from any two or several modules by using vector quadratic form expansion of the encoded binary codes. Consequently, we can obtain the resulting structural configurations by decoding the operated binary codes using the module library.

This essay provides an ecocritical reading of Charlotte Smith’s Beachy Head, her last and unfinished poem. Since, as my research shows, Smith scholarship has focused largely on feminist issues, I aim to broaden a critical understanding of Smith’s poetry by exploring its ecological dimensions. Furthermore, this work will help restore Smith to her rightful place in Romantic ecology, in which she has received insufficient attention. Smith’s representation of Beachy Head as ecological space in all its minutiae ? her vivid, detailed description of its flora and fauna, and use of specialized botanical terms in the poem’s footnotes ? combines the poet’s vantage point with the botanist’s. With the eye of the poet-as-a-botanist, Smith explores the relation of humanity to the natural world, a primary concern for ecological critics, in her portraits of two solitary figures in Beachy Head : the ‘stranger’ and Person Darby. Whereas the stranger’s instrumental view of the environment alienates him from both human beings and nature, Darby’s intimate knowledge of the ecology of Beachy Head enables him to act as an intermediary between those two. Darby teaches us that ecological awareness of nature goes hand in hand with a filial duty to fellow humans.
