It has been shown that many reinforced concrete structures designed without seismic details have experienced brittle shear failures in the beam-column joint area and resulted in large permanent deformations and structural collapse. In this study, experimental investigations into the performance of exterior reinforced concrete beam-column joints strengthened with the strain-hardening cementitous composite(SHCC) reinforced under cyclic loading were presented. The properties of reinforcing fiber, as tensile strength, aspect ratio and elastic modulus, have great effect on the fracture behavior of SHCC. The research emphasis is on the mechanical properties of SHCC made in Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), Polyethylene (PE), and how this affects the composite property, and ultimately its strain-hardening performance. Three beam-column joint specimens were tested to investigate behaviors of each specimen under cyclic load and to compare performances of seismic retrofit. According to the experimental study, the retrofit strengthened with the SHCC provides significant improvements of flexural capacity and ductility of beam-column joints originally built without seismic details.

In this study, full-scaled reinforced concrete columns were tested to evaluate the effects of replacement level of recycled aggregate on compressive behavior. The ready mixed concrete with specified compressive strength of 30㎫ were prepared with different replacement percentages of recycled aggregates. To do this, we have conducted tests on five 400㎜×400㎜×1800㎜ reinforced recycled aggregate concrete columns and tested under uniaxial load. The compressive behaviors of the reinforced concrete columns were described in terms of load-displacement relationship and comparison of the provision of KCI code. Also, to understand the behavior of core concrete, the stress-strain curves obtained from experiments were compared with existing models by Modified Kent and Park, Mander.

HPFRCC(High performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composite) shows the inhibit of cracks within the cement matrix, and formed a lot of multiple cracks. For the effective design and evaluation of HPFRCC, according to the different material characteristics that makes a study of the fiber and cement matrix interaction between the behaviors and characteristics of the destruction is needed. Characterization of AE (Acoustic Emission) can be demonstrated the micro damage which it is not discovered from visual observation, and it become known to an advantage that was clearly discriminated from the existing methods. In this study, the correlations between AE signal and result of the direct tensile response of HPFRCC. For these purpose, three kind of fiber were used: PET2.0%, PET1.5+PE0.5%, PET1.5%+PVA0.5%. The results show the direct tensile response of HPFRCC, PET-PE specimen has multiple cracks and high strength than specimens with PET fibers. According to the results of test, the AE technique is a useful method in damage assessment of HPFRCC under direct tensile loading.

Generally, reinforced concrete structures exposed to the outside temperature are affected by freezing and thawing process during winter and early spring. These freezing and thawing process can lead to the reduction in durability of concrete as cracking or surface spalling. This paper is to study the hysteretic behavior of RC beams exposed to freezing and thawing under cyclic loadings. To compare the difference in hysteretic behavior of RC Beams, limited tests were conducted under different types of damage and freezing and thawing cycles. For this purpose, six specimens were tested. It is thought that experimental results will be used as basic data to evaluate hysteretic behavior of RC beams exposed to freezing and thawing.
