In this study, the overall heat transfer coefficients are calculated on fluidized bed double pipe heat exchanger and single phase double pipe heat exchanger at the same condition. The effect of the particle size, its material, fluidizing velocity and static bed height on overall heat transfer coefficient has been investigated. The main conclusions obtained from the experiment are as follows. 1. The overall heat transfer coefficient of the fluidized bed heat exchanger is higher than that of single phase forced convective heat exchanger (maximum 2.3 times) 2. The value of the overall heat transfer coefficient increase with an increase in static bed height and decrease with an increase in particle size. 3. For the same particle size, the particle of low density can obtain higher overall heat transfer coefficient than that of high density.

A Process Scheduler is designed for load balancing under normal state and for load redistribution under failure in a fail-soft distributed system. The proposed load redistribution algorithm is that if any soft-fault occurs in the local nodes, all the processes in the queue of the failed processor and all incoming processes the failed processor are automatically rescheduled by a certain policy in which we determine to buffer them in the current node or to transfer them to another underloaded node considering criticality and service time of the fault. The proposed load balancing algorthm enhances Soh's model(ESM). Our algorithm eliminates the problems of conventional algorithm which has load tables in each processor. This model provided us with several advantages such as reliability, availability and fault-tolerance.

IscR is a global transcriptional regulator that contributes tothe pathogenesis of Vibrio vulnificus, a food-borne pathogen. In the present study, the regulatory mechanism for the iscRexpression of V. vulnificus was evaluated. The expression ofiscR was found to be upregulated by a transcriptional regulatorAphA, a homologue of the low cell density regulatorAphA of the Vibrio species, in the exponential phase ofgrowth. The promoter activity of iscR appeared to be activatedand repressed by AphA and IscR, respectively. EMSAand DNase I protection assay showed that both AphA andIscR bind to the iscR regulatory region and the binding sitefor AphA overlapped with part of the binding site for IscR. Further mutational analysis suggested that AphA upregulatesthe iscR expression only in the presence of functionalIscR. An examination of the roles of AphA and the bindingsites revealed that the binding of AphA would hinder theIscR-mediated repression of the iscR transcription. The combinedresults show that V. vulnificus AphA upregulates iscRexpression by antagonizing its negative autoregulation.
