        “새로운 캐릭터 문화산업 만들기”: 『위니 더 푸우』와 『푸우 코너에 있는 집』

        이충수 ( Choong Soo Lee ) 한국영미문화학회 2017 영미문화 Vol.17 No.3

The writer who created Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner was Alan Alexander Milne. The characters occupy an important place to share in the form of culture of people. The characters are now being created and disappearing repeatedly. However, the character that started as a fairy tale from the time of childhood is a character that recalls the nostalgia with the memories of childhood even after becoming an adult. We understand the character of the Disney company which has the most loved and fans in the world and try to find a way to share literature and culture by trying to create a new character culture industry in literature. The characters in Winnie-the-Pooh are used in various fields such as animation, clothing, stationery, toys and publishing. Character culture industry is an industry that uses characters to fuse with culture. The character culture industry is expanding into all areas of life because it is extended to all areas where emotion is applicable as well as animation, games, cartoons and fancy. Characters are effective in reminding images in publications, visual media, corporations, organizations, organizations, sports clubs, and increasing visibility of product images. Winnie the Pooh is the first appearance. A bear doll brought by Christopher Robin is not an animal. In fairy tales, animals usually appear personified. However, here, bear dolls are personified and appear as heroes. In countries such as the United States, Japan, and Europe, the character culture is developed constantly through character development, character image, and continuous management to develop brand character. In order to revitalize the cultural industry, it is urgent to cultivate professional manpower such as scenario writer and character designer. It is necessary to create a unique atmosphere in which we can create a new culture industry with the world`s culture by moving away from the cultural industry centered on Japan and Disney. It is difficult for any one person to make efforts to raise and maintain the character brand value. Therefore, a foundation should be laid for a cultural enterprise with strong capital and technical power with systematic and comprehensive management capability. We should not hesitate to make animations to animate the images by applying letters and pictures that are embedded in the works in order to make the arts, plants, and characters in the fairy tale into a cultural industry and personify them for the times.

Vol.58 No.2

The purpose of this paper is to analyze characteristics of the complementary picturebook in The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Since the birth of modern picturebook in the end of the 19th century, one of the outstanding writers and picturebook painters was Beatrix Potter. Her picturebook is a prototype of picturebook format. By studying from an old story and the interplay between text and picture, we can understand a tension between text and picture and resolve the discrepancy. There are the differences of the classification of the picturebook shape and the picturebook concept. We must distinguish picture books from illustrated books. The majority of picturebook can be labeled symmetrical, consonant, or complementary picturebook. The characteristics of the picturebook in The Tale of Peter Rabbit of Beatrix Potter are complementary works, forms of an old story, educational factors, animal characters, objective pictures or subjective pictures.

This paper aims to analyze the object and the desire of love in The Frog King and Beauty and the Beast through the psychoanalyses of Jacques Lacan reinterpreted from Sigmund Freud’s interpretation. The Frog King and Beauty and the Beast are the animal bridegroom tales. Animal and monster in the Western fairy tale met a beauty and married her. The story has been passed down over the year 2000 and has been distributed all over the world. Oedipus complex and the castration complex become ‘the Imaginary’ and ‘the Symbolic’ and are connected with the desire both dialectical still remains. The subject believes his desire is dependent on the penis. The child believes that the phallic stage is metaphor and symbol of the moment, he knows that it is fictional. and he steps back as a lure because the desire for ‘the Real’ is a metonymy.

Vol.36 No.4

This paper aims to find the differences such as its newly added contents, narrative structures, and general characteristics between the various versions of The Three Little Pigs. It also tries to observe the elements of parody in The Three Little Pigs and The Wolf and The Seven Little Kids. Joseph Jacobs collected The Three Little Pigs in English Fairy Tales in 1890. This fairy tale is one of the best known among children worldwide. There are many different versions. For example, there is The True Story of The 3 Little Pigs written by Jon Scieszka; The Three Little Pigs written by Roald Dahl: The Three Little Wolves and The Bad Pig written by Eugene Trivizas: The Wolf and The Seven Little Kids written by the Brothers Grimm; The Three Little Pigs written by Joseph Jacobs, as well as The Three Little Pigs written by Andrew Lang. Jacobs’ work is characterized vulgarism in the mouths of common people and presented as a traditional story. Lang’s one is characterized as a lesson for children. Scieszka’s one is an interesting story written from the perspective of the wolf. Trivizas’ fairy tale provides various interesting themes to readers. Through these we see the differences, the commonalities, the subversion and new possibilities for an interpretation of the traditional English fairy tale. (Hannam University)

Vol.40 No.1

This paper aims to find the meaning of ‘being swallowed’ in fairy tales. The notion of ‘being swallowed’ is not only found in fairy tales but also in ancient myths. In 1697, two different stories give examples of mother-in-laws being swallowed by animals. In Red Cap written by Perrault; the grandmother and the girl were swallowed by a wolf. Another example is found in the Grimm’s fairy tale, In The Three Little Pigs, Two little pigs were swallowed by the wolf but only one survived. In Hansel and Gretel, Hansel and Gretel eat the gingerbread house, but the witch wants to eat the children. The meaning of ‘being swallowed’ represents the ceremony of adulthood in the characteristic of death and rebirth. When children's readers read a fairy tale, they experience separation from a familiar world, inducing an uncanny feeling. (Hannam University)

Vol.8 No.11

Only 7.3% of catering companies have been in business for more than 10 years. Of the 600,000 national restaurants that have paid VAT, 20% of restaurants have been operating for five years or more, and the remaining 80% are closed within five years. Of the total restaurants, 12.1% quit business within six months of opening, and 25.6% of restaurants shut down within one year. Although start-up in the food service has been actively occurring, many failed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the success factors of food service founder using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and to find out the implications of the important factors and priorities of the success factors. The importance of success factors was found to be in the order of item (0.29), founder (0.27), store (0.23), management ability (0.21). Food taste and quality/freshness in item factors, creativity/ innovation and experience/technology in founder factors, store mood and location/commercial area in store factors, communication ability and marketing in management ability factors were high priority.
