충북 보은군 임곡리의 시추 표품(90-B-1)에서 Pseudoschwagerina paraborealis 와 Quasifusulina sp.를 기재하였으며, 이에 근거하여 Pseudoschwagerina대를 설정하였다. Pseudoschwagerina paraborealis는 영월 탄전의 밤치층에서 보고되었고 유라시아 대륙의 아셀리안과 사크마리안 지층에서 다수 기재된 바 있다. 보은 탄전에서 Pseudoschwagerina paraborealis 가 산출되는 것은 영월탄전의 밤치층과 대비되는 지층이 보은 탄전에서도 존재한다는 증거이다. 이 방추충과 함께 같은 층준에서 Quasifusulina sp.가 산출된다. 보은 탄전에서 전기 고생대의 방추충 종을 동정하여 발표하는 것은 이번이 처음이다. Two species of fusulinids, viz., Pseudoschwagerina paraborealis and Quasifusulina sp. are described from the limestone core sample(90-B-1). The core sample was obtained from Imgokri, Boeungun, Chungcheongbukdo, Korea. Recognition of Pseudoschwagerina helped the authors to establish the Pseudoschwagerina Zone. Pseudoschwagerina paraborealis has been reported from the Bamchi Formation of Yeongweol coalfield in Korea and also from the Asselian and Sakmarian strata in Eurasia. The occurrence of Pseudoschwagerina paraborealis in the Boeun coalfield demonstrates the existence of the early Permian strata that are equivalent to the Bamchi Formation of Yeongweol coalfield. The authors report Quasifusulina sp. which indicates the early Permian period as well as Pseudoschwagerina paraborealis. It is the first time that the species of early Permian fusulinids are identified from the Boeun coalfield.

본 연구의 목적은 세계의 유명한 자연사 박물관을 대상으로 관람객의 흥미도를 높이는 데 효과적인 전시 특성과 교육학적인 전시 특성을 알아보는데 있다. 대상이 되는 전시물은 런던에 있는 영국 자연사박물관, 시드니의 호주 박물관, 뉴욕 미국 자연사 박물관, 와싱턴 디시의 스미소니언 박물관이다. 특히 본연구에서 사용한 107개의 전시 표본들은 주로화석, 지구의 역사 그리고 광물과 같은 고체 지구과학교육 내용의 전시에 초점을 맞추었다. 조사를 위해 본 연구는 7개 항목으로 구성된 체크리스트를 완성했는데 각 항목들은 과학관과 자연사 박물관의 전시특성을 다루었던 기존의 문헌을 바탕으로 한 것이다. 또한 교육적인 측면은 Hein(1995)의 연구를 기초로 하였다. 이 연구에서 사용된 107개의 샘플 전시물은 연구자가 직접 방문하여 촬영하고 슬라이드 필름에 보관한 것을 통해 조사를 진행할 수 있었다. 위 4개의 박물관에 대한 조사 결과는 각기 특성있고 긍정적인 결과를 얻었으나 분석을 통해 각 박물관의 다소의 단점도 드러났다. The purpose of this study is to isolate characteristics of exhibits particularly considering educational perspectives and effectiveness in attracting the attention of visitors in famous Natural History Museums. The target exhibits were selected from the Natural History museum in London, the Australian Museum in Sydney, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. A total of 107 sample exhibits used in this study from these four museums were selected as representative solid earth science education related exhibitions including fossils, geological history, and minerals. For the investigation, this study developed a checklist with seven items based on reviewing previous literature and articles pertaining to exhibit characteristics of natural history museums and science centers. Also the educational perspectives focused on classifications of exhibitions by Hein (1997). In this study, all the sample exhibit, were taken pictures of and stored on slide films for lated examination. Respectively exciting and positive results were found in all four museums. The analyses, however, indicated weaknesses as well as strengths in the four museum exhibits.
세계 주요 자연사 박물관의 교육 프로그램의 유형 및 특징

This paper described the types and characteristics of educational programs in major natural history museums of the world. Data were collected from the websites, annual reports, and written materials of the Natural History Museum at London, Australian Museum at Sydney, Field Museum of Natural History at Chicago, Smithsonian Museum at Washington D.C, Royal Tyrrell Museum at Canada and American Museum of Natural History at New York. As the result of this study, we presented ten types of educational programs, which were moveable museums, workshops, lecture/courses, festival/events, discovery activities, scientific exploration/research projects, field trips, youth curators/internship, loan materials and camp/tours. We also described the examples equivalent to each program type. The characteristics of educational programs provided by museums as informal learning settings were analyzed in terms of their themes, participation levels, connection with exhibition, relation to curriculum, and learning activity levels. Information in this paper will assist science teachers, museum educators and curators: (1) to design and implement various types and contents of educational programs; (2) to use characteristics of educational programs to assess and develop them; (3) to make important contributions to science education that involves the introduction of various scientific aspects and collections to the public, and the use of programs for science learning and teaching coherent to existing curricula.
