Vortex generators are used as effective controllers of aerodynamic characteristics of industry equipments. But full knowledge of their mechanism is not attainable due to complex interaction between shedding vortices and bodies. This study focuses on an investigation of flow patterns from simple vortex generators by LDV measurements and smoke wire visualization. Circular cylinder is adopted for preliminary examination of velocity wake patterns and three kinds of generator shapes and two kinds of gap angles for their generator were tested in a wind tunnel. As experimental results, quite different wake patterns and velocity distribution within the wake region are observed.

Biomass to Liquid (BTL) is an attractive option for using biomass as an renewable energy. A syngas supplying system has been designed for BTL system, based on the Fischer-Tropsche (FT) process, and long-term operation test was conducted. The syngas supplying system is composed of a fluidized bed gasifier, gas cleaning and compression system, and methanol absorption system. Stable operation of more than hundred hours was achieved with several champaigns. In addition, a pilot scale biomass gasifier has been developed for 1 bbl/day BTL system and its performance was evaluated. Some preliminary results and current status of the development of BTL system will be presented.

This paper describes design of automotive electronic system checker that is used for out-of line test. The design requirements are discussed in detail and design procedure to meet design requirements is described also. Various methods of test result record keeping are discussed and compared with each other. And then, the construction of whole system including test software is described in depth. In addition, design of power down management system is shown. The equipment is used to test electronic system of Carnival and the performance is proved to be good enough. Design enhancements to improve equipment reliability are also discussed.<br/>
