        본 연구에서는 매우 짧은 전류펄스에 의해 구동되는 반도체 발광소자의 파장특성을 측정하기 위한 장치를 고안하였다. 이 장치는 600grooves/mm의 회절격자에 초점거리가 275mm인 분광기와 X-Y recorder 그리고 아날로그 분석을 위한 scanning motor와 최대값 검출기가 결합된 증폭기로 구성시켰다. 특히, 최대값 검출기는 짧은 펄스 신호를 연속적인 값으로 변환하기 위하여 사용하였다. 이 장치를 이용하여 상용화된 발광다이오드와 AlGaAs/GaAs LD및 InGaAsP/InP BH-LD를 duty cycle이 0.01인 전류펄스로 구동하면서 그 파장특성을 분석한 결과 약 1Å정도의 분해능과 10㎼정도의 수신감도를 가지는 것을 확인하였다. In this paper, a system has been propsed for the measurement of the spectral characteristic of semiconductor light sources driven by very short pluse currents. This system has been constituted a monochrometer of 600 grooves/mm grating and of 275mm focal length, X-Y recorder, scanning motor which enables the system to get the analog data, and amplifier coupled with peak detector. Especially, peak detector was used to convert the short pules signal to continuous one. In order to verify the resolution with slit width, several slits were made with hands. By using this system, thspectra of commericial LEDs, AlGaAs/GaAs LD, and InGaAsP /InP BH-LD which were diriven with pulse current (duty cycle=0.0I%) were measured. Form these measurements, it has been shown that the proposed system has about 1Å Resolution and 10㎼ resolution and 10㎼ sensitivity.

        A Diesel engine is widely used for power source of ship and industry owing to its high thermal efficiency and reliability and durability. However it leads to air pollution due to exhaust gas, and it is important to develop the diesel engine of lower air-pollution to decrease the hazardous exhaust gas emissions. In the latest of diesel engines more efforts have been made on the lower fuel consumption and the reduction of exhaust emission. Especially, in diesel engines, the atomization and injection conditions in related to the exhaust gas have to minimize its harmful components. The atomization characteristics of fuel injection nozzles of D.I. diesel engine have been the subject of intensive study over the last decade. Experience shows that the fuel injection nozzles may foul very rapidly in field service, and that this might have a significant effect on the performance of the engine with regard to emissions. The purpose of this experiment is to predict the fuel injection conditions from new and used nozzles. From new and used nozzles we analyze the conditions of pressures in cylinder, exhaust gas, spray shape. On the basis of these data, the heat release rate, exhaust gas, spray and performance of this engine are analyzed. And then variation of new and used nozzle combustion characteristics are investigated from each test conditions.

        Recently controlling of air pollutants emission from onboard ship as well as on land has become more important issue. New Annex VI to MARPOL 73/78 and IMO NOx Technical Code were adopted by the IMO. Particularly from the year 2000, according to Regulation 13 Nitrogen Oxides(NOx) of the Annex VI, this regulation should apply to new marine diesel engines greater than 130kW installed on vessels constructed on or after January 1, 2000, or which undergo a major conversion after that date and most of engines which are being currently built should be tested and surveyed in accordance with NOx Technical Code. On the other hand, in order to prevent the port city from air pollution, we have to know how many tons of NOx emit from ships in all port city and we should make our own implementation schedule depending on our country's status. In this paper, it was carried out the estimation of discharge amounts of nitrogen oxides(NOx) from all ships in the port. But it is difficult to survey for the discharge amounts of NOx from all ships in a port city due to time and cost. So this paper proposed the method of calculation without onboard survey. With the comparison and analysis of other countries emission calculation method, author proposed basic data of total discharge NOx emission from ships in the port and simple calculation method. Especially, this report focused on port of Busan, because marine traffic of Busan is very intensified.

        The seasonal mean wind direction and wind speed in a greater coasting area are investigated using the ECMWF(European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) data for 11 years from 1985 to 1995. In winter, the main wind direction in Korea and vicinity, Taiwan and vicinity, and the North Pacific Ocean of middle latitudes is a northwesterly wind, northeasterly wind, and westerly wind respectively. The wind speed is strongest in the East China Sea, the South China Sea, and the North Pacific Ocean of low latitudes(Beaufort wind scale 5~6). A distribution pattern of wind direction in spring and fall is similar to that in winter. Seasonal mean wind speed is strongest in winter and the next is fall. The wind speed in summer is generally weak. However, that in the Indochina and vicinity is strong by the influence of Asian monsoon.

        The development of a PC based machinery space simulator for training and research is described. Development goals targeted the usefulness of the system for both training and R&D work. These included a distributed client/server architecture for 1-1 or 1-many client simulation operation, complete separation of visual elements from the controlling routines and the ability to work on the mathematical model (fully compileable source) independent of the controller and visual systems. A graphical interface has been developed and the mathematical model has been updated. NOx emissions and the effect of NOx control measures are simulated. Variable fuel combustion quality can be simulated. The use of the PC based simulator for training of sea going engineers and its relevance to STCW-95 is discussed. The use of the PC based simulator for undergraduate and graduate project work is also discussed.

        Freezing of turbulent water flow between two horizontal cooled parallel plates with the separated region has been investigated experimentally. The flow separation was induced by vertical plates(two-dimensional plates) situated at the inlet of the rectangular channel. The degree of flow separation was varied by employing vertical thin plates with various heights. Three kinds of the vertical plates with 8.0, 9.8 and 12.5 mm in height were utilized. The Reynolds number and cooling temperature ratio were ranged from 3.45x10³ to 1.73x10⁴ and 7.0 to 20.0 respectively. The measurements show that the flow separation influenced remarkably on the local ice formation characteristics. The location of the first ice layer and the average heat transfer at the ice surface were found be correlated as a function of the Reynolds number, the cooling temperature ratio, and the orifice height ratio.

          The object of this experiment is comparing generate frost layer condition by inlet air"s velocity, temperature and relative humidity on the copper tube in evaporator. in this experiment, inlet air"s velocity is 0.3 ㎧, 0.6 ㎧, 0.9 ㎧, temperature is 15℃, 20℃, 25℃and relative humidity is 70% - 90%. And brine temperature that flowing the copper tubes was kept -15℃. because, generally cooling temperature range is constantly -15℃ in the heat exchanger for air conditioning system. experiment an effect indicated that take a picture by digital camera on the test section for He-Ne laser reverberation.

        Any failure of intake and exhaust valves of marine diesel engine must be regarded as serious, and any steps which can be taken to prevent such failure are desirable. The purpose of this paper is to enumerate some of the more obvious causes of valves failure and to suggest certain precautionary practices which can be adopted by all those who are vitally interested in the alleviation of the problem. If this paper has at all accomplished these ends then it can be counted as being of some slight value to the industry.

          In order to effective transportation of goods in Busan new port, it is a plan to build railroad bridge across the Youngwon waterway. Basically ship-handling operators have a mental difficulty and hazardous for navigation under bridge which is constructed across on the fairway. Therefore this study aims to propose the traffic safety assessment of navigation under the bridge by using ship-handling simulator and also investigate the bridge design regulations of certain countries on the fairway.

        In this paper, thermal calculation results are reported for the membrane type LNG carrier(LNGC) of 138,000㎥ class. Thermal calculation modes are divided into 6-modes based on the thermal boundary conditions. These modes are unsteady and steady state modes during the ballast voyage, cool-down mode, loading mode, unsteady and steady state modes during the laden voyage. Temperature distribution and stored energy in the insulation barrier are calculated numerically by the 3-dimensional analysis. Finally, the simulator for the temperature and the pressure variations in LNG tank is suggested in this paper. These simulation results will be contributed for the development of satellite ship management system(SSMS) to achieve the easy operation and the prevention of explosion accident.
