The purpose of this study is to develop a computer simulation program for analyzing load transmission characteristics of a helical gear system in design stage. In this analysis. the rotational delay, load distribution.. root stress, and contact area are investigated. That is, the influence function of deflection is obtained by finite element analysis and the influence function of approach and gear tooth error are considered. Load distribution, rotational delay, and contact area are calculated by solving load-deflection equation which includes these influence functions and tooth error, and the influence function of the bending moment is obtained by finite element analysis. The root stress is calculated by the load distribution and the influence function of the bending moment. The results of the simulation are cross-checked through a specially designed experimental set-up.

This paper reviews the time-domain model of Ishihara and transforms it in the frequency domain. The frequency domain model of torque converter can be widely used in designing and analyzing power-train vibration characteristrics. The torque converter on the experiment, has a cut-off frequency below 10Hz as predicted in the numerical calculation.

In order to improve the digging load capacity of a domestic excavator model, computer aided design (CAD) technique was applied to the optimum design of the excavator boom.<br/> From this study, the digging load capacity of both the bucket cylinder and the dipperstick cylinder could be made about same and the overall digging load capacity could be increased by about 50%. Also, the computer program package developed in this study can be flexibly applied to the design of other construction machines by changing and/or adding a few subprograms and the input data.
