In this paper, we introduce the results of investigating and overhauling bearing drawings in the defense field, and propose an effective bearing drawing management system. We identify the features and performance items that must be regulated in the bearing drawing. After reviewing the validity of the bearing drawings, we classify the incorrect drawings by factor. To achieve greater effect, standardized formats are needed to incorporate into the drawing in the early stage. We propose the introduction of a bearing drawing management system so that the developing bearing technology can be applied quickly to the defense sector. As other elementary parts of the machine have similar problems, we think this study will help develop improvement plans.

In this paper, an method to offset obstacles consist of triangular mesh is presented; this method focuses on the elimination of theoretical offset errors and the prevention interferences at the concave region. In the conventional method, the first step is the vertex splitting process; after performing a small offsetting process such that the disappearance of the edges of the mesh is not affected, the vertex with more than n = 4 incident faces is separated into (n?2) vertices consisting of exactly three incident faces. The obtained initial offset mesh has certain valuable properties. In the second step. the mesh structure is updated by the offset process of the vertex split mesh, which was obtained from the first step, with respect to the offset distance. This paper focuses on this first step dealing with vertex split mesh.

In this paper, benchmark tests of Rapid Prototyping(RP) are presented to evaluate characteristics of various RP Systems and Processes, and several decision-support systems are developed to select RP Machine/Process suitable to user's requirements. Results of the RP benchmark tests are applied to the recently developed RP machines for the purpose of analyzing attributes such as dimensional accuracy, surface roughness, build cost, build time, and etc. Decision-making support systems are also developed, which contain not only new LCE (Linear Confidence Equation) algorithm but also modified PRES and MDS algorithm. Those algorithms are proved to be effective in that reasonably acceptable results are obtained on several cases of different inputs.

The set-up of an injection molding process is a very complicated and time-consuming job because it is required to well determine a lot of variables closely related to products. Thus, the productivity of the set-up process mainly depends on operators' expertise and know-how. To solve the problem mentioned before, this research constructs a support system which helps operators determining the condition of the injection molding easily and systematically. The construction of the support system consists of the following four steps: 1)to determine the control variables which affect the target defect types, 2)to design and implement UI(user interface) using a scenario of set-up process, 3)to design and implement the search algorithms for the initial and optimal condition, and 4)to construct the embedded system which integrates the support system with the operating system of a plastic injection molding machine. The test experiments of some typical products are performed using the embedded system to verify the validity of the support system.
