The recombinant gamma-interferon (LBD-001) which was produced by yeast as host system was investigated on the pharmacological activities. This gamma-interferon exhibited potent inhibitory effect on adjuvant induced arthritis, but no effect on carrageenin induced paw edema in rats. It did not show any sedative, anticonvulsive, analgesis and hypothermic activities in animals. It also had no influences on isolated tracheal and ileum of guinea pig, isolated uterus and fundus strip of rats, and on blood pressure and respiration in situ experiments of rabbits.

The methanolic extracts of thirty-one medicinal plants were screened for anticholinergic and oxytocic activity in rat`s ileum and uterus, respectively. In addition, their effects on the ileum and antagonism against oxytocin in the uterus were observed.

These studies were conducted to investigate the antiinflammatory effects and the mechanism of action of natural products. We used the methods of carrageenan induced foot edema , PAF (platelet activating factor) induced foot edema , inhibition test of vascular permeability, inhibition test of white blood cell migration, formation of granuloma and adjuvant induced arthritis to examine the antiinflammatory effects of Angelica gigas, Ledebouriella seseloides, Ginkgo biloba and Bamboo salt (Jukyom). The oral administration of the water extract of Angelica gigantis radix, the methanolic extract of Ginkgo folium and the aqueous solution of Bamboo salt showed antiinflammatory effect on carrageenan and PAF induced foot edema in SD rat at a dose of 1 g/kg. The same administration of methanolic extract of Ginkgo folium also inhibited the vascular permeability in mice. The aqueous solution of Bamboo salt inhibited the formation of granuloma in SD rats at a oral dose of 1 g/kg. Angelica gigantis radix seems to have antiinflammatory effect by inhibition of PAF.

General pharmacological properties of recombinant human parathyroid hormone (hPTH) were examined. The administration of hPTH (7, 35 and 175 IU/kg sc) in mice had no effects in general behavior and central nervous system, and no influences on normal body temperature, writhing syndromes induced by 0.7% acetic acid solution and chemoshock produced by strychnine and pentetrazol solution. hPTH (9 and 44 IU/kg, sc) given to anesthetized rabbits showed no effect on blood pressure of carotid artery and respiration, and it did not influence the responses produced by injection of acetylcholine or epinephrine. It showed no direct effect at 4.4 x 10^(-2) IU/ml in isolated stomach fundus and uterus of rats and ileum of guinea-pig, and it also showed no inhibition of contraction produced by acetylcholine, oxytocin, serotonin and histamine in the above-mentioned preparations. It did not influence intestinal propulsion at the doses of 7, 35 and 175 IU/kg sc in mice. This drug exhibited no effect on urinary excretion at the doses of 7 and 35 IU/kg sc in rats. However, at a dose of 175 IU/kg sc, it showed a decreased urination along with decreased excretion of potassium, sodium and chloride ion. These results indicate that hPTH does not exert any of serious pharmacological effects except the inhibition of urination at a highest dose used.

General pharmacological properties of LB-00014, an erythropoietin which was produced by recombinant DNA technique in Biotech Research Institute, LG Chemical Ltd. were examined. The administration of LB-00014 (60, 600, 6000 IU/㎏, iv) in mice had no effect in general behavior and central nervous system, and no influences on normal body temperature, writhing syndromes induced by 0.7% acetic acid solution and chemoshock produced by strychnine and pentetrazole solution. LB-00014 (60, 600, 6000 IU/㎏, iv) given to anesthetized rabbits showed no effect on blood pressure of carotid artery and respiration rates, and it did not influence the responses produced by injection of acetylcholine or epinephrne. The administration of LB-00014 (601, 600, 6000 IU/㎏, iv) in rats had no effect on the plasma prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time and hemolytic action. The platelet aggregation induced by collagen in human plasma was not influenced by LB-00014 (10, 100, 1000 IU/㎏, iv). It showed no direct effect at 100 and 1000IU/ml in isolated stomach fundus and uterus of rats and ileum of guinea-pig, and it also had no inhibition of contraction produced by acetylcholine, oxytocin, serotonin and histamine in the above-mentioned preparations. It did not influence gastric secretion, pH and acid output at 6000 IU/㎏, iv in rats, but showed a significant increase in intestinal propulsion of mice at 6000 IU/㎏, iv. Its administration (60, 600, 6000 IU/㎏, iv) caused no effect on urine and electrolyte excretion in rats. These results indicate that LB-00014 does not exsert any of serious pharmacological effects.

N/A DKY is an oriental drug preparation composed of 17 natural products and is known to have antihyperglycemic action at 100 ㎎/㎏ po in animal tests. The general pharmacological properties of DKY preparation were investigate in mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits. This preparation did neither show any effects on central nervous system, nor effects on algesia, nor epilepsia at the large doses of 3000 ㎎/㎏ po in mice or rats. However, the preparation showed hypothermic action at the doses of 330 and 1000 ㎎/㎏ po. In the guinea pig ileum, rat fundus strip and estrogenized rat uterus, DKY did not influence their tension at a concentration of 3 X 10^(-3) g/㎖, and the spasmogenic actions produced by histamine, ACh and 5-HT were not blocked in the presence of DKY at 3 × 10^(-3) g/㎖. The blood pressure and respiration were not considerably influenced at 10㎎/㎏ iv of DKY in rabbits. It did not influence the intestinal propulsion of mice and the normal gastric secretion of rats. These results may suggest that DKY preparation have little effects on central nervous, autonomic and gastrointestimal systems, except hypothermic action.
소형선박의 충돌사고예방을 위한 초음파 경보시스템 개발에 관한 기초 연구

A ultrasonic alert system is proposed in order to prevent the collision accidents of small ships. This system displays a lamp and a sound signal alerting collision by transmitting ultrasonic pulse in air to detect ships and objects within 50 m. Under the condition of restricted visibility and complicated works, it is expected to enhance the effect of navigators' lookout.

In order to investigate the side-effects of crude drugs, twenty drugs have been tested for the teratogenic effect in rats. Among seven drugs contained alkaloid as their ingredients, no one showed teratogenic effect, but Veratri rhizoma showed embryotoxic as revealed by severe retardation in growth of the fetuses. The other thirteen drugs which have been used freguently in oriental medicines exhibited no teratogenic effect. Cyclophosphamide used as a reference compound showed severe malformation and retardation in the growth of rat fetuses. These findings suggest that the drug extracts adopted for the study might have no teratogenic effect in the rats.
위험도에 기반한 HNS 방제자원 모델 개발에 관한 연구

국내 해상 위험·위해물질(HNS)에 대한 해상물동량과 해양사고의 통계적 분석을 통하여 해역 및 위험분야 별 위험도를 조사한 결과 울산항, 여수항, 대산항 순으로 위험·유해물질에 의한 화재위험, 건강위험, 환경위험이 높게 평가되었다. 국내 HNS 사고 대응태세에 대한 조사, 분석을 통해서 폭발위험, 화재위험, 생리적 위험에 취약한 실정을 파악하고 전문 방제자원의 확충 필요성을 제시하였다. 또한 일본의 방제자원 및 배치 현황을 비교 분석하여 해상 위험·위해물질 유출사고 특성에 선순환적으로 대응하고 평가된 위험도를 저감하기 위한 방제자원의 규모와 종류를 설정하였다. 평가된 위험도를 기반으로 국내 해역에서 HNS 사고 대비·대응을 위한 남해, 서해, 동해 3곳의 거점기지와 인천을 비롯한 9곳의 일반기지를 제안하고 거점기지와 일반지지의 HNS 방제자원 모델을 설계하였다. Reviewing the statistics of harbor shipment of hazardous and noxious substance and the past spill accidents of HNS enabled us to assess the potential risks of transportation of HNS through the major harbors in Korea. Ulsan, Yeosu, Daesan port are relatively evaluated high risk in fire, health and environment disaster. Through the analysis of domestic preparedness to HNS accidents, the supplement of expertise resource to respond the vulnerability of the explosion, the fire and the physiological hazard, is required. Based on this risk assessment and review of the advanced case of Japan in building up HNS response system, a resource model at a national level was proposed which differentiates the sea areas for the proper allocation of resources to respond effectively to HNS accidents in the future.
