미국 캘리포니아주(주) 교육과정 개정방식에 대한 일고찰

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the curriculum revision system in California State in the U. S. A. and to discuss some implications to enhance Korean curriculum revision system. To accomplish this purpose, following subjects have been investigated. First, analysis of change agents in California was performed. Second, inquiry of curriculum revision procedures was done. Third, investigation of the preparation system for the implementation of the revised curriculum was performed. Curriculum Commission and State Board of Education are functioning as the important agencies taking charge of the various works related to curriculum revision in California. Through an in-depth analysis, some points were discussed in this article. First, national research agencies about curriculum should be strengthened to play an important role in curriculum revision process and to advise to Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development through continuous and practical research. Curriculum Commission take responsibility to advise to the State Board of Education on the matters of curriculum and instruction. Second, the role of professional research institutes should be strengthened to play more important role in the process of decision-making related to curriculum revision as advisory agencies. Third, the legal system of curriculum revision should be constructed. Fourth, it is necessary to make an effort to construct social agreement in the process of curriculum revision. Fifth, the importance of teachers` role should be emphasized considering the actualization of revised curriculum by their practice of implementation. Sixth, it is desirable that national curriculum should be more specified by the improvement of revision system to ensure the quality of schooling. Seventh, it is desirable to emphasize the cooperative interaction between subject-matter specialists and general executive committee. School curriculums can be substantiated by the development of desirable subject matter curriculum, but they require something beyond the aggregation of various subject matter curriculums.
