The main objectives of this management system of otrthodontic patients were to get the best cooperation of the patients in orthodontic treatment procedures which used the removable orthodontic appliances in most of cases and to make sure the most high level of oral health during the treatment period. 1. Methods to keep the oral health of the patients Evaluation of oral hygiene and caries activity tests Modified personal Hygiene Performance Index Methyl red test Alban test saliva buffering capacity oral glucose clearance time Improving oral hygiene and prevention of dental diseases Toothbrushing and flossing instruction fissure sealing fluoride gel application fluoride mouthrinsing diet control The above management system was proved to be successful in preventing dental diseases which might develop during orthodontic treatment procedures and in motivating the patient and their parents to keep their dental health good.

The results of the modified Alban's caries activity test of 172 children were analyzed statistically to make three levels of caries activity which have predictive ability. Test score 0 could be interpreted as "low" caries activity, test scores from 1 to 4 could be interpreted as "medium" caries activity, and test scores from 5 up could be interpreted as "high" caries activity.
Menadione 용액이 Streptococcus mutans 10449및 Streptococcus sanguis 10556의 성장및 부착에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

It has been reported that vitamine K have an anticariogenic effect. The purpose of this study is to know the growth rate and adherence of Streptococcus mutans 10449 and streptococcus sanguis 10556 by menadione solution. Growth rate was measured by optical density, and adherence was calculated from the weight before and after washing the tube. The growth rate of streptococcus mutans 10449 was inhibited and that of streptococcus sanguis 10556 was increased. The adherence of streptococcus mutans 10449 and streptococcus sanguis 10556 by heated menadione at the concentration of 10 μl/ml was increased compared to 1μl/ml and 100 μl/ml. These results suggest that menadione solution might have an effect on the growth rate and adherence of Streptococcus mutans 10449 and streptococcus sanguis 10556. Further study is needed to know the growth rate and adherence of periodontopathic bacteria by menadione solution.
