There are many modelling methods using theoretical and experimental data. Recently, fractal interpolation methods have been widely used to estimate and analyze various data. Due to the chaotic nature of dynamic roundness profile data in roundness some desirable method must be used for the analysis which is natural to time series data. Fractal analysis used in this paper is within the scope of the fractal interpolation and fractal dimension. Also, two methods for computing the fractal dimension has been introduced which can obtain the dimension of typical dynamic roundness profile data according to the number of data points in which the fixed data are generally lower than 200 data points. This fractal analysis result shows a possible prediction of roundness profile that has some different roundness profile in round shape operation.

The influence of round embossed surface on slider bearing characteristics and its load carrying capacity is discussed for thin film effect of embossed slider bearing. For the numerical computation of lubrication parameters such as pressure, load capacity and shear stress that are normalized and a Reynolds equation is used for the analysis of embossed slider bearing characteristics. For this purpose, the finite difference method of central difference scheme is used in this study. In a slider bearing with embossed form, several simulation parameters such as pressure, load capacity and shear stress of the bearing can be obtained according to independent parameters such as the slope of the slider bearing and number of embossing in the upper slider. Also this results can be summarized and be stored in sequential data file for latter analysis. After all, their distribution of the pressure and shear stress parameters can be displayed and be analyzed easily by using the developed program with matlab GUI technique. The independent parameters such as a number of embossing and a slope of the embossed surface slider are used for discussing simulation parameters of pressure distribution, shear stress and load carrying capacity of the round embossing. These study results reported in this paper should be applied to the other shaped slider bearing with a rectangular embossed surface or rectangular waved surface.

The end-milling force behaviour is very complex and it is related to a de-noising phenomenon, so it is very difficult to detect and diagnose this static cutting force phenomenon. This paper presents a new method of filtering of end-milling force in end-milling operation using filter bank technique, based on the wavelet transform. In this paper by comparing the history of end-milling force using wavelet filtering the fundamental end-milling property of the wavelet transform is well reviewed and analyzed. This result of wavelet transform using filter bank shows the possible static prediction of end-milling force with severe dynamic properties such as chatter in end-milling operation.

In this paper, the characteristics and load carrying capacity of square pocket surfaces on a slider bearing are discussed for the thin film effect by the square pocket slider bearing. To study the lubrication, a Reynolds equation is used in this paper for the analysis of the slider bearing characteristics with square pocket surfaces. For numerical analysis, the central differencing scheme finite difference method is used. In a slider bearing with square pocket surfaces, the simulation dependent parameters such as pressure and load carrying capacity of the bearing can be acquired from the independent parameters, the slope of the slider bearing and number of pockets on the upper slider. These results can be acquired by the programmed softwar,e and they can be analyzed and stored in a sequential data file for later analysis. Furthermore, their pressure and load capacity distribution can be displayed easily by using the developed program with the Matlab GUI.

Rockwell Hardness Modeling Using Volumetric Variable
Do-hun Chin(진도훈),Sang-rok Oh(오상록),Moon-chul Yoon(윤문철) 한국생산제조학회 2013 한국생산제조학회지 Vol.22 No.3
A new Rockwell hardness (HRC) model using a volumetric parameter by a least square and fractal interpolation method is suggested. The results are also investigated in comparison to real measured hardness data. For this purpose, the measurement of an indented volume is performed using a confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM), and the captured height encoded image (HEI) is used as an original surface for the calculation of the indented volume. After configuring the surface, the constructed volume is calculated and used as an independent variable for HRC hardness modeling. The hardness model is established using an experimental modeling technique involving a least square algorithm and fractal interpolating model, and this suggested model can be used to reliably predict the Rockwell hardness. These techniques can also be applied to the modeling of the Brinnell and Vickers hardnesses using a volumetric variable.

The chatter behaviour in endmilling is a complex and nonlinear phenomenon, so it is very difficult to detect and diagnose this chatter phenomenon, This paper presents new method for the detection of chatter in endmilling operation based on the wavelet transform. In this paper, the fundamental property of the wavelet transform is reviewed by comparing the spectrum of other algorithm such as FFT. This result using wavelet transform shows the possibiling of the chatter detection in endmilling operation.
