Linear lesions of discoid lupus erythemaosus (DLE), subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus or tumid lupus erythematosus, following the lines of Blaschko, are called linear cutaneous lupus erythematosus (LCLE). Lesions of LCLE appear as linear unilateral erythematous plaques predominantly on the face. Neck, trunk or the extremities may also be affected. Histological findings show hyperkeratosis with follicular plugging, epidermal atrophy, hydropic degeneration and dense perivascular infiltration of the inflammatory cells, including lymphocytes and histiocytes. To our knowledge, four cases of linear lupus erythematosus have been reported in Korean literature. We report three patients diagnosed with LCLE. (Korean J Dermatol 2012;50(12):1064∼1068)

Various modalities have been used for the treatment of psoriasis, including phototherapy. The choice of psoriasis treatment is based on the characteristics of the lesions, locations and amount of involved body surface area. Narrowband ultraviolet (UV) B therapy is a widely used and highly efficient method for psoriasis. But, large areas of unaffected skin may be irradiated along with the psoriatic lesions during phototherapy. The 308-nm excimer laser is a further development of narrowband UVB and was reported to be an effective and safe treatment for localized psoriasis. We experienced an excellent effect without significant adverse reactions of 308-nm excimer laser in a 9-year-old patient with palmoplantar psoriasis who was recalcitrant to oral cyclosporine and topical calcipotriol/ betamethasone treatment. Department of Dermatology, School of Medicine, Pusan National University1, Medical Research Institute, Pusan National University Hospital2, Busan, Korea Background: A variety of benign and malignant tumors can occur in the nail apparatus, causing nail deformities and growth disorders. Clinical diagnosis of nail apparatus tumors can be difficult because of their similar clinical appearance. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the types and frequency of nail apparatus tumors and to assess the types and frequency of nail alterations induced by tumors. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records, clinical photos, and histologic slides of 165 patients with nail apparatus tumors who had visited Pusan National University Hospital between January 2002 and August 2012. Results: The most frequently diagnosed benign tumors were digital mucous cysts (22.4%), glomus tumors (21.8%), and subungual exostoses (8.5%). The most common malignant tumors were melanomas (17.0%), squamous cell carcinomas (4.9%), and Bowen`s disease (3.0%). We observed nail plate alterations in 80.6% of the cases. All cases of melanomas, fibrous tumors, and subungual exostoses produced nail alterations. Most tumors were treated with surgical management. Conclusion: Although the sample size of this study was small, this is the first Korean dermatologic trial to identify nail apparatus tumors. The study findings may prove useful in the clinical diagnosis of various nail apparatus tumors. (Korean J Dermatol 2014;52(6):381∼386)

Extramammary Paget’s disease (EMPD) is a rare skin neoplasm, which usually affects the anogenital region of older individuals. Condyloma accuminatum is a very common benign human papilloma virus (HPV)-associated keratinous neoplasm affecting the anogenital region of children and adults. To our knowledge, two cases of simultaneous occurrence of EMPD and condyloma accuminatum have been reported in the written English literature until now. We report a case of a 58-year-old man with simultaneous occurrence of EMPD and condyloma accuminatum in a lesion for the first time in Korea. Histologic, immunohistochemical and HPV-PCR test results were also described to analyze the development of the lesion and the correlation between EMPD and condyloma accuminatum.
