This paper presents a characteristics comparison of prototype motors using magnetic filament of 3D printer. 3D printer is very popular in these days, especially, in the prototype manufacturing of industrial applications. However, 3D printer is useful for making structural components, but for components that have to be used as a magnetic material like yoke or rotor in motors, it is not easy to find in case used as magnetic material. So, in this paper, the author made motors using magnetic material filaments and compared the back EMF characteristics.

This paper presents a development process of slotless motors using block-coil stator. The slotless motors have many advantages such as no cogging, high controllability. However, the manufacturing process of slotless motors is known to be very difficult and thus the manufacturing cost is very high. This is an obstacle to the proliferation of slotless motors despite many advantages. However, the block coil stator type slotless motor is emerging as a new alternative to overcome the weakness of the slotless motor, which is difficult to manufacture. So, in this paper, the author present novel manufacturing process of a slotless motor known as block-coil stator and the verification through design and prototyping of block-coil stator slotless motors.
A Time-Saving Method for Analyzing Permanent Magnet Motors

This paper presents a unique method for simulating permanent magnet motors without time-consuming numerical methods used in the conventional magnetic circuit method. The conventional method gives us average values like torque and power over specified periods of time, but it is usually very difficult and time-consuming to obtain instantaneous characteristics like cogging torques and torque ripples. The convolution operations method we present, however, considers relative angle variations of stator magnetic circuits and rotor magnetic circuits. As a result, it makes uses of instantaneous values possible. The authors compare the new method with the coventional method and verify that calculating cogging torque values and back-emf values is possible with the proposed new convolution method.

As one of numerical methods, the Finite Element Method (FEM) is very widely used to analyze electrical machines these days. However, the most electrical machines have a motion and it is very important to consider a motion in electrical machine analysis. In this paper, Moving Surface Method is suggested as a new approach to consider a motion and discuss its advantages and disadvantages. And also, a finite element analysis program which applied Moving Surface Method is developed and we evaluate its results compared with experimental results of a real model.

Recently, many motor analysis methods have been developed and studied. Among these methods, the finite element method(FEM) and the analytic method are most popular in field engineers because of the accuracy of FEM and the convenience and rapid analysis time of the analytic method. Contrary, the finite element method has a weakness in calculation time and it is not easy to obtain the instantaneous characteristics value of motor with the analytic method. In this paper, the authors proposes a novel method for calculating the instantaneous characteristics of motors with the magnetic slot equivalent circuit.

This paper presents the novel design and implementation of a switched reluctance motor with commutator. Unlike typical switched reluctance motor, this motor doesnt require semi-conductor devices and inverter circuits for driving. Instead, the brushes and commutator can make rotating field for driving the switched reluctance motor. Moreover, because this motor has no magnet, the total cost for manufacturing the motor is very cheap. In order to verify the usability of the proposed motor, the authors manufactured the prototype motor, and showed the torque-speed curve of the motor.

This paper proposes a novel efficiency measurement method without dynamometer. In case of small motor, the measurement of efficiency is not easy because the percentage of mechanical loss is comparably huge and the mechanical loss is not easy to be measured. In this paper, the authors proposes a method which can measure the efficiency with two test motors. This method can be useful to engineers who study small electrical motors.
