The effect of rapid cooling to 20~24℃ of whole blood immediately after collection, using'cooling unit' minimized damage of platelet function and yield high anticoagulant factor in the plasma. Though, Ice pack, a sort of cooling units, was proved inadquate to preserve platelet concentration because of hard cooling force. In comparison between cooling faculty experiment of foreign and national cooling unit, it has been shown similar to the dissolved and frozen changing point. In case of preservation whole blood 4 units per cooling 1 unit, it has been shown cooling down below 24℃ in 1 hour 40 minute and can be maintained 20℃ above 8 hours after blood collection. From the above literature, national cooling unit, substituted foreign cooling unit, has not special problem. Therefore, the author conclusioned hat using cooling unit contribute to quality improvement of blood and standardization of the subsequently prepared blood components and will diminish processing at irregular hour or season cause.

Biochemical changes and icon of platelets on platelet concentrates preserved for a 5day term in several plastic containers were investigated. The authors evaluated the TOTM-PVC second generation container produced by Green Cross Medical Corp. and Boin medica. Blood obtained from 40 persons was manufactured for platelet concentrates within 4 hours and each divided into 20 units of platelet concentrations. Samples were taken at 0, 3, and 5days and the platelet count, pH, pO_(2), pCO_(2), HCO_(3)-, glucose, LDH, lactate, electrolytes, and mineral element were tested The number and MPV, for platelets icon, were well preserved on two different platelet concentrates during storage. A test for biochemical function appeared to be effective data. pH was maintained above 6.8 on two different platelet concentrates during storage. The results suggest that the TOTM-PVC second generation platelets storage container produced by Green Cross Medical Corp. and Boin medica was able to preserve platelets for at least five days without lesion and was it concluded to have biochemical efficacy on patients with transfusions.

Characteristic and Lactate dehydrogenase titer of platelet components obtained with three type of cell separators compared with random donor platelet concentrates were investigated. Collective efficiency of platelets obtained with the Amicus™ and Trima were higher than with the MCS+. The effect of biochemical changes on pH, Blood Gas permeability, Glucose and LDH in platelet concentrates obtained with the Amicus™ and Trima were more preserved than in concentrates from the MCS+, but LDH titer of SDP were not effectively seen compared with RDP. Therefore, we indicated that different plateletphresis procedure induced distinct changes of platelet function Platelets obtained with the MCS cell separator were significantly more activated than platelets harvested with the Amicus™ and Trima.
