The effects of austenitizing temperatures and times and cooling rate on the characteristics of continuous air cooling have been investigated for 0.3%C-Mn steels microalloyed with vanadium, Transformation start temperatures have been found to be measured from temperature-time curve directly obtained with continuous air cooling and to decrease with increasing austenitizing temperature, cooling rate and Mn contents. The coarsening behavior of austenite grain size has been measured to abnormally grow at 1050℃ and rapidly grow at 1200℃. It has been found that the volume fraction of pearlite was linealy proportional to the reciprocal square root of austenite grain size. The hardness has been measured to increase with increasing cooling rate up to 250℃/min, and to remain relatively unchanged in the range of 250∼400℃/min. showing that hardness valves for steel with a higher Mn content increase more than those for steel with a lower Mn content. The impact property has been found to decrease with increasing of austenite grain size but does not linealy change with the reciprocal square root of austenite grain size.

To improve the quality and mechanical property of castings, squeeze casting method has been used widely in production of auto parts. The castability of caliper with squeeze casting was analyzed using the orthogonal array of Taguchi's method and is strongly influenced by metal pressure level of squeeze casting process. Specimens were evaluated as function of various microscopic and mechanical properties and all mechanical properties increase with increasing metal pressure.<br/>

This study has been conducted to replace the material of automotive caliper which use presently ductile cast iron with unreinforced aluminum alloy for weight reduction. Since castable aluminum alloys are inferior to ductile cast iron in mechanical properties and castability, the rigidity and quality of aluminum caliper is achived with optimal design using by CAE such as structural, solidification and flow analysis and squeeze casting process, respectively. The caliper meet required performances and provide weight reduction of about 30%.<br/>

Mostly, A ride comfort of vehicle is influenced by vertical accelerations. This study is focusing on development a semi-active suspension system with Continuously variable damper(HS-SH type), only using absolute velocity of sprung mass without using the relative velocity while having lower system prices and a little energy requirement. In this paper, the system is realized in consideration to control strategy (sky-hook control, hybrid filter, etc.) and has been proved to have improvement of ride comfort effect by Quarter car and Vehicle test, respectively.<br/>

Recently. Active suspension system with low-band type for passenger cars is developed to improve both ride comfort and handling. In this study. the height control with mode evaluation controller is proposed to resolve the problems such as maintaining vehicle posture. a sensitive speed and variable height adjustment. the results of test have confirmed that height of vehicle can be converged to a goal region.<br/> <br/>

Generally, active suspension system is divided with low band active suspension system and full active suspension system. This active suspension system is reported system which is satisfied with ride and handling by control of the vehicle motions( bounce, pitch and roll). Presently, a study of active suspension system is also within the country proceeding actively, Therefore, this paper describes the test results of gain variation using sky-hook control theory suggested by Karnopp.<br/>

Low-band type active suspension system is implemented on a passenger car. Level. roll, pitch and bouncing motion of body are controlled by a digital controller. Sky-hook damper is applied to control bouncing motion. This paper describes overall construction of the system, design of hydraulic system, sensor system, controller, and control scheme. Performance of prototype car has been evaluated on a test track and reported in the second paper.<br/>
