External Confinement of concrete in CFS(Carbon Fiber sheets) enhances strength and ductility of concrete columns. This paper presents the test results on the study of reinforced concrete columns strengthened with carbon fiber sheets. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the CFS confinement characteristics of square reinforced concrete columns and the ductility behavior of R/C columns strengthened with CFS. The tests were performed with different lateral reinforcement ratios, CFS reinforcement ratios and concrete strength. Test results were characterized according to maximum loads and lateral strain of CFS and Lateral reinforcement.

Most period code formulas for the RC moment resisting frame building are empirical formulas. Code formula is developed by the measured period of the low-medium buildings during the 1971 San Fernando Earthquake. But measured periods are insufficient to assure the reliability of its accuracy and safety. This paper improves the code formula by regression analysis of the measured period data. Seismic coefficient using the improved formula is evaluated and also compared with those of being based on the current code formula.

This paper represents the results carried out to determine the dynamic response characteristics of Korea High Speed Rail(KHSR) bridges. The responses of the KHSR bridges subjected to the moving train loading are obtained through the simplified method for the 2-dimensional train/track/bridge interaction analysis in which the eccentricity of axle loads and the effect of the torsional forces acting on the bridge are included for the more accurate train/track/bridge interaction analysis. The results of the analyses are compared with the field test data to verify the performance of the 2-dimensional train/track/bridge interaction analysis method.
