In this paper, a systematic 5-mode(road steering, all-wheel steering, crab steering, reduced swing out mode and independent steering) steering algorithm design process for an all-terrain mobile crane with 5 axles and all steerable wheels is proposed. Steering angles for each steering mode are designed based not only on basic theory but also on vehicle specification, design limitation and requirements. A multi-body dynamic analysis is carried out to investigate the feasibility of the steering algorithm. According to the results, the proposed steering algorithm meets the objective of each steering mode.

Despite the wide industrial applications of planetary gear trains, the relationship between the design parameters (tooth profile, carrier mass, etc.) and performance (strength, vibration, noise, etc.) remains poorly understood. A significant amount of research has focused on transmission errors, which are measurable performance indicators directly related to the design parameters. Herein, an experimental test rig for a single-stage planetary gear set built using digital angular encoders and gap sensors is described. To study the static and dynamic characteristics of this planetary gear train, the transmission errors and sun gear orbit are analyzed from the data measured under various levels of torque and speed. The transmission errors of the gear train decrease 40% when the speed increases from 30 to 600 rpm with an output torque of 39.2 Nm, and increase 22% when the output torque increases from 19.6 to 39.2 Nm with an input speed of 30 rpm.
A Study on the Characteristics of WindHydro - a Floating Wind Turbine Simulation Code

A floating wind turbine dynamic simulation program, 'WindHydro', is newly developed. In order to investigate the characteristics of the program, a series of loading cases are simulated such as (1) wind only case, (2) free decay cases with initial displacement, (3) wave only case (4) wind and wave case. The simulations are carried out for the 5-MW OC3-Hywind model which has a spar buoy and catenary mooring lines. As a result, the reliability of WindHydro is verified in most viewpoints although additional study is still necessary to clear out some uncertainty of the program.
