시와 과학의 대화를 위한 탈중심화 이론 -브뤼노 라투르의 ‘코스모폴리틱스cosmopolitics’를 중심으로

과학시는 자연과학과 인문학이 융합된 좋은 예시다. C. P. 스노우의관점대로라면 19세기 이후로 두 문화 사이의 대립과 갈등이 심화하면서 자연과학과 인문학에 몸담은 사람들은 ‘똑똑한 바보’이거나 ‘게으른교양인’이 되었다. 기후와 환경의 위기에 대한 원인으로 인류세를 말하는 현시대에서 자연과학은 작용인을 중요시하는 그들의 방법으로 위기를 해결할 수 있다고 말한다. 그러나 비물질적이고 윤리적인 차원까지인과론으로 해결할 수 없다. 여기에는 인문학의 관점에서 제시되는 것들이 있기 때문이다. 그렇다면 두 문화가 대립과 갈등이 아닌 대화의길을 모색해야 한다. 자연과학과 인문학이 만나 전체적인 안목에서 시대를 진단하고 이에 적절한 해결책을 간구해야 할 때이다. 두 문화의관계를 진단하면서 스노우는 원활한 소통을 통해 대화가 가능할 것이라고 낙관하였고, 혹자는 ‘통섭’으로, 혹자는 ‘복잡계’ 이론으로 두 문화의 만남 가능성을 엿보이기도 하고, 또 혹자는 만남의 가능성을 거절하는 입장을 취하는 등 오늘날까지 이어지고 있다. 과학시는 두 문화의만남을 위해 역사의 이른 시기부터 시도해 왔다. 그러나 과학과 시의존재론적 우위를 다투는 흔적이 있고, 아예 과학이 곧 현대화의 표상이라고 여겨지던 흔적도 있으며 과학과 시는 통일성을 이룰 수 없다는 사례도 있다. 본 연구는 두 문화가 발 딛고 선 토양이 근대성으로 표상되는 ‘이분법’이라는 것을 밝히면서, ‘탈중심’화라는 브루노 라투르의 ‘코스모폴리틱스’ 개념을 소개하였다. 사물 정치학이라고도 하는 코스모폴리틱스는 하나의 사실을 구성하는 요소들 하나하나를 객체로 인정하기 때문에 탈중심화된 존재의 장이 열린다. 그뿐만 아니라 자연/사회, 정신/몸, 이성/감각, 인간적인 것/비인간적인 것, 물질/비물질 등으로나누는 이분법을 극복하고 혼종적인 사물들의 연결망 안에서 사실을구축해 낸다. 필자는 이분법을 극복하고 탈중심화된 존재론의 개념이담긴 코스모폴리틱스로 앞으로 과학시가 나아갈 방향을 제시하였다.

이주민과 선주민의 경계를 횡단하는 정체성 재구성 : 찰스 다윈의 ‘종’개념과 화이트헤드의 ‘연장적 연속체’ 개념을 중심으로

본 연구는 다윈의 ‘종’ 개념과 화이트헤드의 ‘연장적 연속체’ 개념을 연결하여이주민과 선주민의 경계를 횡단하는 인간의 정체성을 재구성하려는 데 목적이 있다. 언론에서 이주민을 향해 불법과 관련한 발화행위는 청자에게 이주민, 이주노동자, 결혼 이주자, 귀환동포, 난민, 등으로 들리는 이민자의 이름만으로도 익명의이주민들을 불법을 저지르는 자로 당연시하게 된다. 일상에서 마주치는 그들을향해서 함부로 해도 될 것처럼 여긴다든지 우리와 다른 사람으로 치부하고, 우리보다 낮게 보고, 혐오의 감정이 작동한다. 이에 본 연구는 다양한 층위의 이주민을부르는 호명담론과 정체성의 관계를 비판적으로 고찰한다. 이어서 다윈의 ‘종’의개념을 분석하여 인간에 대한 이해를 다시 성찰하고, 화이트헤드의 ‘연장적 연속체’개념을 분석하여 인간의 존재 양식을 명시화한다. 마지막으로 다윈의 ‘종’의 개념과 화이트헤드의 ‘연장적 연속체’ 개념의 접점에서 이주민과 선주민의 정체성을‘판 내러티쿠스’로 재구성한다. 이 시도는 생물학적 및 철학적 개념을 사회적 현상에 연결하는 학제 간 연구로서 시사점이 있다. This study aims to reconstruct the identity of individuals crossing the boundaries between immigrants and natives by linking Darwin’s concept of ‘species’ with Whitehead’s notion of ‘extended continuum.’ In the media, discourse related to illegality directed towards immigrants leads audiences to naturally associate anonymous immigrants with acts of illegality merely based on terms like immigrants, migrant workers, marriage migrants, repatriates, refugees, etc. They are often regarded recklessly, stereotyped as different from us, looked down upon, and engender feelings of hatred. Consequently, this research critically examines the relationship between naming and emotions towards immigrants from various backgrounds and explores the reasons for the impossibility of empathy, coexistence, and proper hospitality towards immigrant-background citizens with equal dignity and freedom in multicultural societies. Subsequently, it analyzes Darwin’s concept of ‘species’ to reflect on the understanding of humanity and explicates Whitehead’s notion of ‘extended continuum’ to specify the mode of human existence. Finally, at the intersection of Darwin’s concept of ‘species’ and Whitehead’s notion of ‘extended continuum,’ this study reconceptualizes the identity of immigrants and natives as ‘Pan narratives.’ The application of Darwin’s concept of ‘species’ and Whitehead’s notion of ‘extended continuum’ to the analysis of the relationship between immigrants and natives is valuable as interdisciplinary research that connects biological and philosophical concepts to social phenomena.

마종기 시에 대한 ‘체화된 인지’ 이론 기반 리터러시 방법론 탐색

This study analyzes the concepts of “forehead” and “nationra” in Ma Jong Ki's poetry through three layers of embodied cognition: phenomenology, cognitive unconscious, and neural embodiment. Specifically, it presents a concrete model of cognitive humanities criticism by examining how “forehead” and “nationra” are metaphorically equated. Ma Jong Ki, a diaspora poet, perceives himself as a perpetual migrant in the nostalgia towards his homeland, viewing life as a series of wandering. To understand his poetry stemming from his multilayered experiences of time, borders, cultures, and societies, one must examine how his body and mind are configured in interaction with the environment. Ultimately, a multidimensional framework for analyzing how reality is perceived, represented, and cognized within his poetry is necessary. Humanities intersect with cognitive science to understand human cognition, mind, behavior, and culture, forming the interdisciplinary field of cognitive humanities. Embodied cognition theory, viewing the body-mind-environment as a unified entity, is useful for understanding the ever-changing human mind in interaction with the body and external environment.

생태적 공존을 향한 ‘번역’ -영화 <가디언즈 오브 갤럭시 3>을 중심으로

영화 <가디언즈 오브 갤럭시 3>은 비인간-동물을 도구와 수단으로 삼는 기술과학의 발전에 대해 포스트 휴먼 사유로 이끈다. 이 연구는 영화 <가디언즈 오브 갤럭시 3>에 나타난 그러한 내용을 ‘그로테스크 리얼리즘’과 ‘의인관’, ‘생물학적 진화론’ 등의 행위자로 ‘번역’하여 ‘생태적 공존의 행위자 연결망’을 구축하는 데 목적이 있다. 브뤼노 라투르의 ‘번역’은 여러 가지의 행위소(행위자)를 구부리고 회유하여 동맹군을 만들어서 권력으로 등장시키고, 하나의 진리와 사실을 구성해내는 과정이자 방법이다. ANT 기반의 영화분석은 인지 인문학의 한 양식을 제시한다는 측면에서 학술적인 의의가 있다. 즉, 학제 간 융합적 분석모형으로 기술과학 시대에 대두되고 있는 비인간-동물의 도구화 문제에 대해 다층적으로 숙고할 수 있는 계기를 마련한다. 또 비인간-동물과 인간의 존재론적 동등함을 알리며 생태적 공존을 실천하는 상상력을 제안하는 데 유용하다. The movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ leads to a post-human reasoning about the development of technology and science that utilizes non-human animals as tools and means. This research aims to construct an ‘ecological coexistence actor network’ by translating such content presented in the movie into ‘grotesque realism’, ‘anthropomorphism’, ‘biological evolution’, and other elements as actors. Bruno Latour's concept of ‘translation’ involves bending and coaxing various actors to form alliances, empowering them to appear as authorities, and constructing a single truth and fact. Movie analysis based on Actor-Network Theory (ANT) holds academic significance in presenting a form of cognitive humanities. In other words, it provides an interdisciplinary analytical model that enables multi-layered contemplation of the issue of the instrumentalization of non-human animals, which is emerging in the era of technology and science. Moreover, it is useful for proposing a vision for ecological coexistence by advocating for the existential equality between non-human animals and humans.

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of oriental medicine and acupuncture therapy on a chronic renal failure patient suffering complications from diabetes mellitus. Methods: The clinical data was analyzed on a patient with chronic renal failure complicated by diabetes mellitus whose main symptoms were edema and numbness of lower limbs, anorexia, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, and general weakness. The patient was admitted to the internal medicine department of Wonkwang University Oriental Jeonju Medicine Hospital on July 31, 2004, and remained until August 17, 2004. He was treated with herbal medicine(Palmijiwhangtanggamibang) and acupuncture therapy. Results: After treatment, improvement was seen in symptoms and laboratory examinations(creatinine clearance). Conclusions: This study suggests that oriental medicine therapy is significantly effective in the treatment of a chronic renal failure complicated by diabetes mellitus.
