단일층 압전작동기에 적절한 압축하중을 가하면, 압전세라믹 층에 가해지는 압축 응력에 의한 재료비선형적 특성과 기계적 좌굴현상에 의하여 작동 변위와 작동력이 동시에 향상된다. 본 논문에서는 날갯짓 기구를 압축하중을 받는 단일층 압전 작동기로 구동하는 경우, 날갯짓 각도와 공기력에 어떠한 영향이 발생하는가를 조사하였다. 또한 날개 형상과 수동 날갯 회전 각도가 공기력 발생에 미치는 영향도 실험적으로 조사하였다. 인공 날개를 2차원으로 가정한 전산유체해석을 통하여 얻은 평균 수직력이, 실험으로 얻은 값과 잘 일치함을 확인하였다. A piezoceramic unimoph actuator can produce a relatively larger actuation force and actuation displacement when a proper compressive load is applied during operation, because the compressive stress causes material nonlinear behavior in the piezoceramic layer and triggers mechanical buckling. In this paper, we examined effects of the actuator under compression on the flapping angle and aerodynamic force generation capability. Effects of wing shape and passive wing rotation angle on the aerodynamic force production were also investigated. The average vertical force acquired by a 2D CFD simulation for an artificial wing showed a good agreement with the measured one by the experiment.

Piezoelectric PMN-29PT single crystal multilayer actuators [100 $mm^2$ in cross section and 22 mm in length] are designed and fabricated by stacking square plates [$10{\times}10{\times}0.5(t)\;mm^3$] of PMN-29PT single crystals having a $d_{33}$ of about 1,500 pC/N. The characteristics of PMN-29PT multilayer actuators are compared with those of P-025.40P multilayer PZT ceramic actuators [490 $mm^2$ in cross section and 60 mm in length] produced by PI in Germany. Even though the total volume of the PMN-29PT single crystal multilayer actuator is only about 7.5% of that of the P-025.40P ceramic multilayer actuator, PMN-29PT single crystal multilayer actuators are expected to show very similar properties to P-025.40P ceramic actuators in terms of static stroke and blocking force. Therefore, on the basis of their smaller mass and volume compared to the conventional PZT ceramic multilayer actuators, piezoelectric PMN-29PT single crystal multilayer actuators have significant potential regarding the development of various high performance actuators for aerospace subsystems.
곤충 비행원리를 모사한 압전 작동기 구동형 날갯짓 기구의 평가

본 논문에서는 단일층 압전 작동기로 구동되는 곤충 모방 날갯짓 기구의 실험적 평가의 결과를 제시하였다. 변위 증폭기구의 연결막대 길이와 힌지 위치를 조절하여, 말벌류 곤충의 상향 날갯짓 끝에 발생하는 날개 겹침 (clap)을 모방할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한, 실제 곤충 날개의 단면이 지그-재그형인 것을 모방한 날개를 제작하여 부착하였다. 이 두 가지 추가적인 고안으로 인하여 본 날갯짓 기구는 이전 날개에 비하여 면적이 절반 밖에 되지 않음에도 불구하고 더 큰 양력을 발생할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 날개의 겹침, 지그-재그형 단면, 인가전압 파형이 양력 발생에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 최종적으로는 디지털 고속카메라를 이용하여, 개선된 날갯짓 기구가 상향 날갯짓과 하향 날갯짓에서 와류를 발생함을 확인하였다. This paper presents experimental evaluation of an insect-mimicking flapping-wing device actuated by a unimorph piezoceramic actuator. Length of each rod and hinge point in the linkage/amplification system are carefully chosen such that the resulting wing motion can mimic clapping of wings in a real insect at the end of upstroke. In addition to this, a pair of corrugated wings are fabricated mimicking zig-zag cross section of a real insect wing. Thanks to the two additional implementation, the improved flapping wing device can generate a larger lift force than the previous model even though area of the new wing is about 50% less than that of the previous wing. In this work, effects of the wing clapping, the wing corrugation, and the input wave form on the lift force generation have been also experimentally investigated. Finally, the vortex generated by the flapping device has been captured by a high speed camera, showing that vortices are produced during up- and down-strokes.
압전 복합재료 작동기 LIPCA를 이용한 보의 진동 제어

This paper presents application possibility of Lightweight Piezoceramic Composite Actuator(LIPCA) to suppress vibration of dynamic structures as an actuator. LIPCA is composed of a piezoelectric layer, a carbon/epoxy layer and glass/epoxy layers. When compared to the bare piezoelectric ceramic(PZT), LIPCA has advantages such as high performance, durability and reliability. In this study, performances of LIPCA have been estimated in an active vibration control system. Experiments were performed on an aluminum beam with cantilever configuration. In this test, strain gages and single LIPCA are attached on the aluminum beam with epoxy resin. Digital ON-OFF control algorithm is applied into the system to exhibit performance of LIPCA as actuator in active vibration control system. First, we performed static actuation test of bare PZT and LIPCA in order to show the superiority of LIPCA. Secondly, we carried out beam vibration control test using LIPCA. The results showed LIPCA could suppress free vibration of the aluminum beam, which means that LIPCA can be applied as an actuator to control vibration of dynamic structures.
