백색 LED 패키지용 형광체 광학 시뮬레이션 정확도에 관한 연구

There has been a critical issue in optical simulation of phosphors in LEDs due to their light-reabsorption properties. To improve the accuracy of optical modeling for a white LED package, we utilized the spectrum data of the phosphor-dispersed encapsulant film instead of the phosphor powder. By measuring white LED packages with green and red phosphors, the maximum difference between simulation and experimental results of a color temperature, a color rendition index number and a color coordinate corresponds to ΔT=95K, ΔRa=1.7 and Δxy=0.007, respectively. Based on those results, the proposed method can well explain the change of emission spectra of white LEDs with more than two phosphors which introduce the complex optical phenomena such as absorption, reabsorption, light emission, reflection and scattering, etc.

Strain-induced martensite transformation and its effect on the behavior of tensile stress-strain curve have been studied at room temperature. Two types of 304 austenitic stainless steels were chosen for the study: high Ni/Mn/Mo contents of high stacking fault energy (A steel) and low small Ni/Mn/Mo contents of low stacking fault energy (B steel). The microstructural evolution of transformation products was monitored using Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD). The as-drawn B steel had ε-martensite in austenite matrix due to the low value of stacking fault energy. The B steel prestained with 3% transformed the ε-martensite to α’-martensite, therefore exhibiting the high strain hardening rate in tensile stress-strain curve. However, the A steel showed only austenite phase for the as-drawn and prestrained specimens with 3%. The A steels prestrained with 7% and 9% indicated the sligh amount of ε-martensite with no α’-martensite, therefore exhibiting the low strain hardening rate in tensile stress-strain curve.

Optical characteristics including the radiant flux and viewing angle of UV LEDs were investigated according to both silicone encapsulants with different refractive indexes and lens shapes. Lead frame was fabricated using the enhanced heat dissipation characteristics with a heat slug structure and the reflector based on EMC(Epoxy Mold Compound) material. Four types of lens shapes were designed and their optical characteristics depending on the refractive index of silicone encapsulants were evaluated. The maximum radiant flux can be achieved when the height of lens are 1.32mm and 1.08mm for silicone encapsulants with low and high refractive indexes, respectively. Depending on the encapsulating method, the viewing angle changes from 148.9° to 130.2° for low refractive index and from 145.3° to 136.8° for high refractive index. As a result, it is found that the optical characteristics of UV LEDs can be controled through both encapsulating method and the refractive index of encapsulants.
