        인장강도 측정에 의한 스트레이트 펌 모발의 형태학적 변화에 관한 연구

        In this study, we investigated tensile properties and ultrastructural changes of straight permed hair using the rheometer and the scanning electron microscopy. First, we compared the morphological characteristic between the virgin hair and the straight permed hair after testing tensile strength. Cuticle cells were heavily lifted off in straight permed hair than in the virgin hair. Cuticle cells were separated by the destruction of intercellular membrane complex and no destruction or damage were found in cytoplasm. In the comparative test for tensile characteristic between the virgin hair and the straight permed hair, tensile distance of the straight permed hair was decreased by 24.5% or 3.05 mm than the virgin hair. The tensile strength was decreased by 34.63% or $5.62\;g/cm^2$ and the maximum stress by 34.59% or 56.12 g. As a result, the tensile property dropped to the lowest level with the straight permed hair than with the bleached hair or the permanent dyed hair of previous studies. 본 연구는 스트레이트 펌에 의해서 손상된 모발의 인장특성과 미세구조적 변화를 인장강도기와 주사전자현미경을 사용하여 관찰 분석하였다. 건강모발과 스트레이트 펌 모발의 인장강도를 측정한 후 형태적인 특징을 비교하였을 때 스트레이트 펌 모발에서 큐티클층의 큐티클세포들은 건강모발에 비하여 심하게 분리되어서 들떠있는 상태로 관찰되었다. 이들 세포들은 세포막사이 복합체의 파괴에 의해서 분리되었고 세포질의 파괴나 부서짐의 현상은 나타나지 않았다. 건강모발과 스트레이트 펌 모발의 인장특성에 관한 비교 실험에서 스트레이트 펌 모발의 인장거리는 건강모발에 비하여 24.5%가 감소되어 약 3.05 mm의 차이가 나타났고 인장강도는 34.63%가 감소되어 $5.62\;g/cm^2$가 작았다. 또한, 최고응력은 34.59%가 감소되어 56.12 g이 작은 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 스트레이트 펌 모발의 인장특성은 탈색모발과 염색모발의 선행 연구결과보다 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다.

        보문 : 스트레이트 펌 처리 모발의 미세구조 분석

        This research observed the morphological change and ultrastructural change of hair after having straight permanent on the twenty years old of woman`s virgin hair through the scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The straight permed hair was observed that the cuticular cells of cuticle layer around the surface lifted off. Also, some cuticular cells were destructed to be off. The endocuticle of cuticular cell has formed 500 nm of holes toward the longitudinal line of cuticular cell, and some of these holes were united to have the diameter of 1 μm~1.5 μm. Cortex has formed lots of holes in line with membrane of cortical cell, especially there were the holes among the limited membrane of peripheral part of melanin granules and of macrofibrils. These holes were distributed mainly around the exocortex near the cuticle layer more than the central part of cortex, where much more holes than in the cortex of virgin hair were formed.

        울금 처리에 따른 펌 중복 시술 모발의 손상도 및 형태 변화에 미치는 영향

        This study was to investigate effects of Curcuma longa L. (C. longa) on the damaged hair caused by repetitive permanents. For this, we have examined physical and morphological changes of damaged hair when pre-treated with C. longa and Poly Peptide Treatment (PPT) and post-treated with C. longa and SPA-T3 (Hair Recovery SPA Treatment 3). Also, the absorbance, tensile strength, and elongation rates were compared with each samples. After performing the tensile strength test, morphological changes of each were also observed by electron microscopy. As the frequency of permanent was increased, the absorbance value was increased from 0.078 to 0.170 and 0.280, and the tensile strength value was reduced from 158.17 to 132.65 and 12.31, indicating that levels of hair damage in each sample were gradually increased. The absorbance of hair sample treated with C. longa before repetitive permanents was reduced more than the one treated with repetitive permanents without C. longa. Also the former`s hair tensile strength value was increased more than the latter`s one, so the results showed that the C. longa treatment before repetitive permanents had certain effects protecting hair. For the case of 3-time permanents and then received C. longa and SPA-T3 treatment, the absorbance of the former panel only received 3-time permanents was decreased into 0.355, and the latter panel received C. longa treatment into 0.208. For the tensile strength values, the former panel with only 3-time permanents was increased into 121.32, and the latter panel with C. longa was increased into 128.90. These results showed that treatment with C. longa has certain effects protecting the hair. As the result observing the hair`s side and fractured side, the former panel hair was seriously damaged, its coherence was weaken, and separation was occurred between epidermis and cortex of hair. Contrary to these observations, the latter panel was observed that the float phenomenon became less in the epidermis of hair and the damage of cell membrane complexes between hair cortex was low. It is therefore considered that a product using the C. longa added to keratin and other nutrients will be used as a hair treatment goods caring damaged hair resulting from repetitive permanents as well as managing the hair`s epidermis-related troubles.

        커트 도구에 따른 모발 절단면의 형태학적 특성

        본 연구는 레이저, 클리퍼, 가위 등의 커트도구를 사용하여 모발절단면의 형태학적 특성을 주사전자현미경으로 관찰하였다. 레이저(razer)를 사용해서 절단된 모발의 단면은 모발 끝이 한쪽 방향으로 예리하고 뾰족하게 형성되었고 모발의 잘린 면이 얇아지면서 모발의 바깥쪽 부위로 휘어지는 것을 확인하였다. 가위(scissors)를 사용하여 절단된 모발의 횡단면은 비교적 깨끗하게 관찰되었다. 이는 가위와 사람의 손힘이 일정하게 주어짐에 따라 모발의 절단면이 찌그러지거나 눌림 현상 없이 모발형태가 변형되지 않고 절단되었기 때문인 것으로 관찰되었다. 클리퍼(clipper)를 사용해서 절단된 모발 횡단면의 큐티클층은 손상되지 않고 고르게 잘려 나갔으나 피질(cortex)은 섬유성 단백질인 거대원섬유 (macrofibril)들이 매끄럽게 잘려나가지 않고 모발단면의 중간위치에서 층이 형성되는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 클리퍼의 날이 전기적인 힘에 의해서 고속으로 움직이면서 모발을 순간적으로 절단하면서 생기는 자국으로 나타났다. The morphological characteristics of the cut sections of hair using razor, clipper and scissors were investigated with scanning electron microscopy. With the razor, the cutting section had a long elliptical form and a rhythmical ribbon shape. It was curved outward since the end part of it became thinner. With the scissors, the cutting section had a flat, circular form. It seemed to be because the scissors imposed a constant strength on the hair. With the clipper, the cutting section had also a circular form but a layer of the macrofibril was generated in the middle part of the cortex. It seemed to be generated while the rapidly moving blades of the clipper cut the hair in an instant.
