Rhapontici Radix is in use in oriental medicine. Oriental medical doctors use Rhapontici Radix for clearing away heat and eliminating toxin(淸熱解毒), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Rhapontici Radix. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The main ingredients of poisoning from Echinops Latifolii Radix(禹州漏蘆) are echinopsine, etc. The ingredients of poisoning from Rhapontici Radix mainly cause stimulating symptoms on central nervous system, etc. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment are symptomatic treatment, etc. 3. In order to prevent against poisoning of Rhapontici Radix, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.

과루근(瓜蔞根)이 Th2 T 세포와 호산구에 대한 활성 및 증식 억제에 미치는 영향

Objectives: The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of Trichosanthis Radix extract (TRE) on the proliferation and activation of eosinophils which were prepared from lung cells of asthma-induced mice by ovalbumin (OVA) treatment. Methods: C57BL/6 mouse was exposed to OVA three times a week for 6 weeks. The mouse lung tissues were dissected out, chopped and dossiciated with collagenase (1 ㎍/㎖). Eosinophils were activated by rmIL-3/rmIL-5 co-treatments. The lung cells were treated with TRE, incubated for 48 hr at 37℃, and analyzed by flow cytometer, ELISA and RT-PCR methods. Results: To measure cytotoxicity, mouse lung fibroblast cells (mLFCs) were pretreated with various concentrations of TRE. TRE at 100 ㎍/㎖, the highest concentration, examined did not have any cytotoxic effects on mLFCs. In FACS analysis, number of granulocyte/lymphocyte, CD3e-/CCR3+, CD3e+/CD69+, CD4+/CD8+ T cells in asthma-induced lung cells were significantly decreased by TRE treatment compared to the control group. But CD4+/CD25+ T cells were not examined significant change in lung cells treated with TRE. In ELISA analysis, production levels of IL-3, IL-5, IL-13 and histamine in asthma-induced lung cells, which were induced by rIL-3 plus rmIL-5 co-treatment, were significantly decreased by TRE treatment. Conclusions: The present data suggested that Trichosanthis Radix on the inhibition of parameters associated with asthma responses in eosinpophils, and thus implicate the possibility for the clinical application of Trichosanthis Radix.

사향(麝香)의 독성(毒性)에 관한 문헌적 고찰

The Korean medical doctors use Moschus for resuscitation(開竅), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Moschus. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The main ingredients of poisoning are muscone, etc. The ingredients of poisoning from Moschus mainly cause stimulating symptoms on respiratory system, urinary system, digestive system, blood system, circulating system and nervous system, etc. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in Western medicine are supplies of grape sugar and symptomatic treatment, etc. 3. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in Korean medicine take advantage of herbs, such as Glycyrrhizae Radix (甘草). Phaseoli Radiati Semen (綠豆), etc. And Korean medical doctors should meet symptoms as patients call for attention. 4. In order to prevent against poisoning of Moschus, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.

세신(細辛)의 독성(毒性)과 부작용에 관한 문헌적 고찰

Asari Herba Cum Radice is in use in the Korean medicine. The Korean medical doctors use Asari Herba Cum Radice for expelling wind and clearing away cold(祛風散寒), alleviating pain(止痛), warming the lung to reduce watery phlegm(溫肺化飮), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, side effects, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Asari Herba Cum Radice. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The main ingredients of poisoning are essential oil, etc. The ingredients of poisoning from Asari Herba Cum Radice mainly can cause stimulating symptoms on nervous system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, urinary system, and respiratory system, etc. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in the Korean medicine take advantage of herbs, such as Phaseoli Radiati Semen(綠豆), Glycyrrhizae Radix(甘草), drugs for clearing away heat and eliminating toxin(淸熱解毒藥), etc. And the Korean medical doctors should treat with acupucture and meet symptoms as patients call for attention. 3. The representative methods in poisoning treatments in the western medicine are promoting vomiting, washing out the stomach, causing diarrhea, supplies of grape sugar and taking an antidote for poison from Asari Herba Cum Radice, etc. And the medical doctors should meet symptoms as patients call for attention. 4. In order to prevent against poisoning of Asari Herba Cum Radice, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.

Zanthoxyli Fructus is in use in the Korean medicine. The Korean medical doctors use Zanthoxyli Fructus for warming the middie-jiao(溫中), clearing away cold (散寒), and dehydrating dampness (燥濕), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, side effects, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Zanthoxyli Fructus.
