This study was investigated to find longevity and fertilizing ability of stored pollens in the Aurantioideae through germination test and artificial crossing. The germination rate of pollen stored for 8 months was 88.3% in Citrus junos, 71.7% in Citrus junos var. Hwanggeumyuza(HG) and 52.0% in Poncirus trifoliata and that of pollen stored for 24 months was 87.7% in C. junos, 12.7% in HG, and 0% in P. trifoliata orange and that of pollen stored for 48 months was 35.0% in C. junos only. Fruit set ratio by pollens stored for 24 months was 50.8% in HG×C. junos, 5.0% in HG×HG and 0% in HG×P. trifoliata, and that by pollens stored for 48 months was 49.3% in HG×C. junos and 0% in HG×HG. The germination rate of seeds set by stored pollens collected that year was 81.7 % in HG×C. junos, 59.7% in HG×HG and 38.9% in HG×P. trifoliata, and those of seeds set by pollens stored for 24 months or 48 months were 63.8% and 66.7%, respectively in HG×C. junos. The phenotype of hybrids of HG×C. junos was mostly intermediate type of their parents.

This study was carried out to increase the rate of plant regeneration from embryogenic callus of A. keiskei on MS medium supplemented with ethylene inhibitors. When leaflet, petiolule, and petiole of A. keiskei were cultured on MS medium supplemented with 2, 4-D, callus was well induced from leaflet segments at 2.0 ppm 2,4-D. Shoot elongation of plantlets and shooting from embryogenic callus of A. keiskei were best on 2,4-D-free medium supplemented with 2 ppm AgNO₃ or 10 ppm CoCl₂ · 6H₂O, but it was suppressed on the medium containing 1 ppm 2,4-D with AgNO₃ or CoCl₂ · 6H₂O. Root elongation of plantlets from embryogenic callus was best on 2,4-D-free medium supplemented with 1 ppm AgNO₃ or 5 ppm CoCl₂ · 6H₂O, but rooting from embryogenic callus was none on the medium containing 1 ppm 2,4-D with AgNO₃ or CoCl₂·6H₂O. Fresh weight of plantlets from embryogenic callus was heaviest on 2,4-D-free medium supplemented with 2 ppm of AgNO₃ or CoCl₂ · 6H₂O, while it was heaviest on the medium con-taining 1 ppm 2,4-D with 1 ppm AgNO₃ or 2 ppm CoCl₂ · 6H₂O.

The Present studies were carried out to investigate the gametophyte formation of stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni), known as a crop of sweetening resource. The results obtained are as follows : 1. The anther is tetrasporangiate. 2. The middle layer is ephemeral. 3. Microspore dyad and tetrad were observed in different locule of the same anther. 4. The microspore tetrad is of tetrahedral type. 5. One vegetative nucleus and two sperms were observed in a matured pollen grain. 6. Nucellus is of tenuinucellate type. 7, Integument is unitegumic. 8. Ovule type is anatropous. 9. The arrangement of megaspore tetrad is of linear type. 10. Normally, the chalazal end megaspore functions as the embryo sac mother cell. 11. Embryo sac is a monosporic 8-nucleate polygonum type.
