Standardization Trend and Propulsion Strategy of Wind Power Generation

Recent alarming acceleration of global warming has made power generations using renewable energy to be in the middle of the spotlight. Korean government has also announced that it will make the related industry to be nation's one of main export items with high investments to low carbon green growth industry. To achieve this goal of exporting the renewable energy power generation system beyond domestic use, internationally acceptable rules should be applied and the three step processes of design, performance assessment and certification should follow international standards. Corresponding this international requests, IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) is conducting the establishment of rules in TC88 for technical requirements of wind turbines. Design life-time of a wind turbine is required to be at least 20 years. In the meantime, the wind turbine will experience a lot of load cases such as extreme loads and fatigue loads which will include several typhoons per year and extreme gusts with 50 years recurrence period as well as endless turbulence flow. Therefore, IEC 61400-1 specifies design load cases to be considered in the wind turbine design and requires the wind turbine to withstand the load cases in various operational situations. It thus appears that the examination of contents and decisions discussed in the international standard committee will help people in the field of offshore wind energy and ocean energy converters.

Hoodroom in LNG(Liquified Natural Gas) Carrier plays an important role for prompt detection and interception of leaked BOG (Boil Off Gas) from double wall fuel piping system for main boiler. Therefore, IGC Code underline the several requirements such as specific air change rate, arrangement and gas detection system. But, any regulated design arrangements for effective ventilation are not clearly presented. The paper would be pleased to prospect the actual ventilation now and propose the design concepts for the improved ventilation effectiveness through the now field and the concentration field analysis by CFD.

Renewable energy such as photovoltaic power generations, wind power generations is connected to distribution system as distributed generation (DG) form. The installation of DG may cause some technical problems in distribution systems because the DG power outputs may change randomly and dramatically. Hence, smart grid being led by advanced countries is presented to use DG efficiently, solve technical problems due to DG, and save electric power demand. The smart grid is small power system consisted of some quality control centers (QCCs) using two-way digital technology, including intelligent monitoring system and keeping track of all electricity flowing. This paper presents optimal control method of QCC realizing maximum DG utilization and minimum power loss. The effectiveness of proposed method can be ascertained in simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC.
배전계통에서 SVR 설치가 분산전원 도입에 미치는 영향 분석

최근 부하증가에 대한 안정적 전력공급과 환경문제 해결은 전 세계적 이슈로 등장되고 있으며, 그 해결책으로써 분산형전원(Distributed generation, DG)에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. DG는 단독으로 전력을 공급하는 것이 아니라, 경제적 · 효율적 이유로 기존 전력계통과 연계해 운전되는데, 태양광이나 풍력과 같은 재생에너지를 이용한 DG의 불확실하며 빈번한 출력변동은 배전계통의 전압조정을 어렵게 만든다. 배전계통의 전압조정을 위해 배전용변전소의 부하시 탭 변환기(Under Load Tap Changer, 이하 ULTC)가 이용되고 있고, 선로전압조정기(Step Voltage Regulator, 이하 SVR)가 장거리 선로에 설치되고 있다. 기존 배전계통의 전압조정은 ULTC 운용에 의해서 결정되었고, 이것은 DG 도입을 상당히 제약하고 있는 현실이다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 SVR 설치가 전압조정뿐만 아니라 DG 도입에 미치는 긍정적 영향을 평가하고 모델 배전계통 시뮬레이션을 통해 그 유효성을 확인한다.

The measures to tackle climate change have been a top priority over the world, after UNFCCC and Kyoto protocol were put in force. According to article 2, paragraph 2 of Kyoto protocol, the IMO has considered the measures to reduce GHG emissions from international shipping. In this study, the proposals on GHG measures under consideration within IMO, especially the market-based measures, were considered.
BEMT에 의한 100kW 풍력터빈 블레이드 기본설계 및 출력 성능해석

In this study, mathematical expressions based upon the conventional BEMT(blade element momentum theory) was applied to basic 100kW wind turbine blade configuration design. Power coefficient and related flow parameters, such as Prandtl's tip loss coefficient, tangential and axial flow induction factors of the wind turbine were analyzed systematically. X-FOIL was used to acquire lift and drag coefficients of the 2-D airfoils and Viterna-Corrigan formula was used o interpolate he aerodynamic characteristics in post-stall region. Also, aerodynamic characteristics, measured in a wind tunnel to calculate he power coefficient was applied. The comparative results such as axial and tangential flow factors, power coefficients were presented in this study. Power coefficient, calculated by in-house code was compared with the GH-Bladed result. The difference of the aerodynamic characteristics caused the difference of the performance characteristics as variation as TSR.
