Chromatin is an instructive DNA structure that canwidely respond to external signals. An important change of chromatin is the modifications of histone for this regulation. There are accumulating lists of these modifications and the complexity of their action is gradually understood. It is evident that histone modifications play important roles in most biological processes that are involved in the expression or repression of DNA. The surface of nucleosomes is susceptible to multiplicity of modifications. Chromatin modifications can play either by eliminating chromatin contacts or by recruiting non-histone proteins to chromatin. Many of these regulations seem to be epigenetically inherited. Thus, histone modifications are closely correlated with many fundamental biological processes in animal, plant and microbial kingdoms. Failures of histone modification lead, in general, to defective chromosome condensation or decondensation, impeding many biological functions including development, maturation, and protection against various diseases.

A gene encoding a putative phospholipase D was isolated from Bacillus licheniformis and cloned into pGEM-T easy vector. The gene was expressed in E. coli BL21 (DE3) using a pET-21(a) vector containing His6 tag. Affinity purification of the recombinant phospholipase D with nickelnitrilotriacetic acid (Ni-NTA) resin resulted major one-band by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) analysis. The purified enzyme showed a molecular weight of 44 kDa. The optimum activity of enzyme was around pH 7.0 and the enzyme was also the most stable around this condition. The optimum temperature was about 40-45oC and the enzyme still showed considerable activities at wide range of temperature. Among various detergents, Triton X-100 significantly increased the enzyme activity, resulting in 181% activity of control at 0.6 mM of the detergent. Calcium ion did not significantly affect the enzyme activity, suggesting that the enzyme might be classified into Ca2+-independent PLD.

This study was carried out to analyse the nutrient composition of grape seeds and to assess as a plant oil source. Mean values of nutrient contents were as follows: moisture 10.1%, crude protein 11.7%, crude fat 29.7%, crude ash 2.53%, total sugar 4.38 ㎍/㎎, and reducing sugar 3.96 ㎍/㎎. Linoleic acid was the most prominent fatty acid, showing 66.15%, and followed by oleic acid $gt; palmitic acid $gt; stearic acid. Mean contents of neutral-, glyco- and phospholipids were 85.4%, 6.50%, and 8.06%, respectively. Mean saponification value of crude fat was 187.5, showing elevated value than that of perilla oil. Antioxidative capacity of grape seed oil was marked by 12 and 50% higher values than those of perilla or sesame oils. Regardless of storage conditions, grape seed oil showed more lowered P.O.V than perilla and sesame oils. P.O.V of grape seed oil treated at 150℃ showed a lower value than those of perilla and sesame oils. The stability against oxidation may be related with the antioxidant substances contained in the grape seeds.

We substantially increased the temperature sensitivity of a fiber Bragg grating temperature sensor by gluing it onto a piece of bi-metal strip. The temperature-induced Bragg wavelength shift is increased upto 5 times more than that of the intrinsic FBG sensor by the strain effect from the deflected bi-metal. We showed the feasibility of the proposed sensor by comparing the temperature measuring experiments with those of the intrinsic FBG sensors. Also we measured temperature varying the length of the bi-metal pieces and analyzed the result effect of it.
바이메탈을 이용한 광섬유격자 온도센서의 측정 정밀도 개선

본 논문에서는 바이메탈(bi-metal)과 광섬유격자를 이용하여 온도측정 민감도가 개선된 광섬유 온도센서 시스템을 구성 하였다. 바이메탈에 광섬유격자를 부착함으로써 온도변화에 의한 스트레인이 광섬유격자에 가해져 민감한 파장변화가 있음을 확인하였다. 비교 실험을 통하여 본 논문에서 제안한 광섬유온도 센서 온도 민감도가 기존 광섬유 센서 보다 약 3배 향상되었음을 확인하였다.
전복강경하 원위부 위절제술 후 Uncut Roux-en-Y 위공장문합술과 B-I 위십이지장문합술의 비교

목적: Uncut Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy는 잔위로의 담즙 역류와 Roux stasis 증후군을 예방하는 데 효과적인 것으로 알려져 있다. 이에 원위부위절제술 후 전복강경하 uncut Roux-en-Y 위공장문합술(TLuRYGJ)의 임상적 유용성을 알아보고자 본 연구를 시행하게 되었다. 대상 및 방법: 본원에서 TLuRYGJ를 시행 받은 19영의 환자들과 같은 기간에 전복강경하 Billroth I 위절제술(TLB-I)을 시행 받은 11명의 환자들의 수술 후 6개월째 조사한 Visick 분류, 식습관, 위절제후증후군과 관련된 위장관 증상, 내시경 검사 소견 등을 비교, 분석하였다. 결과: 수술 후 6개월째에 조사한 위절제후증후군과 관련한 위장관 증상과 Visick 분류에서는 별다른 차이가 없었으나 TLuRYGJ 군 환자들 중 담즙 역류성 위염의 증상을 호소했던 환자는 한 명도 없었고 투약을 요하는 위 지연배출의 증상을 호소했던 환자가 한 명(5.3%)있었다. 수술 후 6개월째 위 내시경 검사 소견에서 TLuRYGJ 군에서 TLB-I군에 비해 담즙 역류성 잔위염이 더 적은 소견을 보였다. 결론: TLuRYGJ는 담즙 역류성 위염과 Roux stasis 증후군을 예방하는 데 효과적이었다. Purpose: An uncut Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy has been known to be effective in preventing bile reflux gastritis in the remnant stomach and the Roux stasis syndrome. Materials and Methods: To evaluate the usefulness of a totally laparoscopic uncut Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy (TLuRYGJ) after a distal gastrectomy, we reviewed the medical records of 19 consecutive patients that underwent a TLuRYGJ at our institution, and 11 consecutive patients who underwent a totally laparoscopic Billroth I gastrectomy (TLB-I) during the same period. Results: Postoperative gastrointestinal symptoms related to the postgastrectomy syndrome and the Visick classification at six months after surgery were not different in the two groups; however, there was no case of symptomatic bile reflux gastritis and only one case of delayed gastric empting, for which medication was required, in the TLuRYGJ group. The endoscopic findings of the remnant stomach for bile reflux gastritis at six months after surgery were better in the TLuRYGJ group than in the TLB-I group. Conclusion: A TLuRYGJ was found to be effective in preventing bile reflux gastritis and the Roux stasis syndrome.
