Background: Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, may participate with pathogenesis of intercellular detachment and loss of cell-matrix interaction. Autoimmune bullous dermatoses is an entity charaterized by bullous lesions of the skin and mucosa, and autoantibodies to the specific tissue components. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the induction of apoptosis in the lesional skin of pemphigus vulgaris (PV), pemphigus foliaceus (PF), bullous pemphigoid (BP), and epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA). Methods: Hoechst 33342 (bisbenzimide) staining and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) staining was performed to determine the induction of apoptosis in the lesional skin of each disease. Results: In PV and PF, typical findings of apoptosis were observed in the lesional epidermis showing acantholysis. However, in BP and EBA, no apoptosis of the epidermis was observed. Conclusion: These results suggest that apoptosis is only associated with acantholysis of the epidermal keratinocytes, one of many components of pathogenesis in bullous disease, in patients with pemphigus. 12주간 Quercetin과 유산소운동 병행처치가 비만 여대생의 항산화효소 및 지질과산화에 미치는 효과

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of quercetin intake and aerobic exercises on antioxidant enzymes, lipid peroxidation of obese female college students. The quercetin, a staple food contains a large amount of flavonoid, is known to have strong antioxidant activity. The total of 21 obese female college students were divided into 7 control group(C), 7 aerobic exercise group(E), and 7 Quercetin intake + aerobic exercise group(Q + E). The quercetin intake and aerobic exercise program was carried out for 12 weeks. The Quercetin intake and aerobic exercise carried out in parallel for the 12 weeks showed a positive result on the antioxidant enzymes(super oxide dismutase, SOD). There was significant difference between the times. The 12 weeks of quercetin intake and aerobic exercise performed in parallel did not show a positive effect on the lipid peroxidation(malondialdehyde, MDA), and did not show significant difference between the groups. In conclusion, combining quercetin intake and aerobic exercise was found to have beneficial effects on antioxidant enzymes(SOD). There was significant statistical differences between the time of measurement. In order to elucidate the effect of querecetin intake and aerobic exercise, research from a wide range of perspectives, such as prolonged quercetin intake, and expansion of the subject number, is recommended as a future work.
