This survey was performed to find out the heavy metal concentrations in shellfishes. Experimental subjects were 60 cases in 10 kinds of shellfishes purchased in markets in july, august, 1987 and february, 1988. Contents of lead, cadmium, zinc, copper and mangangese were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer and mercury contents by mercury analyzer. The results were as follows: The range of mercury contents in shellfishes was from ND to 0.22 ppm, cadmium from 0.22 to 2.46 ppm, lead from 0.09 to 4.90 ppm, copper from 0.62 to 12.45 ppm, manganese from 0.09 to 13.8 ppm and zinc from 4.01 to 129.96 ppm.

This paper presents field application test results of mass concrete using super retarding agent. The field test was carried out at mat foundation (thickness lm) of newly constructed information center of Chongju university and apartment house constructed with Daewon corporation. Difference of setting time of concrete between with super retarding agent and without super retarding agent is considered. Concrete without super retarding agent is placed at upper layer and with super retarding agent at lower layer. According to test results, the reducing method of hydration heat considering difference of setting time with super retarding agent can reduce the highest temperature about 3~4℃, and delay the peak time about 3~4days. Compressive strength using super retarding agent is somewhat higher than that of normal concrete. Accordingly, super retarding agent does not affect the strength development.

In this paper, setting time and strength development of concrete using newly developed super retarding agent is investigated under various W/C and dosage. According to test results, slump and air content show na variation at 40 and 50% of W/C with the increase of super retarding agent content, while they decrease remarkably at 30% of W/C. It is required from above results that reducing of viscosity agent and increasing AE agent should be performed at 30% of W/C. As for the properties of setting retarding, there is no variation according to W/C. As or the heat of hydration, the peak of temperature goes down and the time to reach peak temperature is delayed considerably with increase of super retarding agent.. As for the strength properties, there's no strength loss with the increase of newly developed super retarding agent.

In this paper, setting and strength properties of concrete using sugar are discussed. Gluconic acid, white sugar and brown sugar are used for super retarding agent. According to experimental results, as super retarding agent content increases, slump show to be increased, while air content decrease about 1∼2%, in case of setting properties, as super retarding agent content increases, setting time delays considerable. When gluconic acid is added about 0.3%, it delays more than 20 days. And when white sugar and brown sugar content is 0.3%, final setting time is shown more than 10 days. Compressive strength of concrete with super retarding agent shows to be higher than that without it. Accordingly. quality variation of concrete does not shown regardless of kinds of sugar.
