        피콜라는 듀 보이스가 말하는 백인성과 흑인성의 융합이라는 삶의 싸움에서 패배하고 자신의 분열된 세계에서 상상의 친구와의 대화로 함몰되는 광기로 끝난다. 반면에 클로디아의 분열은 어느 한 쪽을 선택하고 다른 쪽으로 무화시키는 데서 생기는 정신적인 분열이 아니라 목소리의 분열이다. 그녀는 이러한 분열을 강제적으로 융합하거나 통합시키지 않으며 오히려 분열을 수용하는 태도를 취한다. 자신의 문화와 목소리가 이중적이라는 것을 인식한 클로디아는 모리슨처럼 그 분열의 간극을 수용하며 단지 서사적으로만 그 분열된 조각을 이을 뿐이다. 이중의식을 하나의 목소리로 통합하려는 해결보다는 두 목소리를 동시에 인정하는 것이 분열을 극복하는 방법이 될 수 있다. 다시 말해서 피콜라의 분열은 양자 택일적 우월의 대립구조에서 만들어진 분열의 이중의식이며, 클로디아의 분열은 두 문화의 공존을 인정하는 양자공존의 창조적 이중의식이다. 아프리카계 미국인들의 이중의식이 어느 하나의 비전으로 통합될 수 없다는 것을 인식하는 것이 바로 생존의 전략이다.

        토니 모리슨 소설에 나타난 '이중의식' : 분열에서 공존으로 --

        This paper aims to read Toni Morrison's novels in terms of 'double-consciousness' defined by W.E.B. Du Bois in The Souls of Black Folk, taking The Bluest Eye, Sula, and Beloved as examples. Her novels develop from fragmentation of double-consciousness toward double voicedness or double vision shaped by transforming it creatively. The Bluest Eye examines splitness of characters when they intemalize white western values without any criticism to achieve viable identity. In Sula Morrison focuses more closely on ways of coping with the problems of creating and maintaining a viable identity in black community. Sula rejects all traditional social standards and tries to insist her own voice. But she is destined to be isolated even into death because the community's norms are crucial to her survival and development. Beloved differs from The Bluest Eye and Sula in that the emphasis shifts from external factors creating fragmentation toward internal healing processes that allow for psychic integration. The narrative through re-memory enables Sethe to recover fragmented self and bridge the gap between past and present. Morrison's novels articulate both the African American perspective that privileges double consciousness and the postmodern perspective in which traditional western insistence on unity must be replaced by multiplicity and dialogue. Working between, and within the terms of such traditional dichotomies as black/white, presence/absence, self/other, and past/present, she devises a new form of world view that is no longer based on homogeneity, but is founded on coexistence in difference. Morrison expands the limits of human consciousness beyond either-or mentality and presents double vision as strategy for survival of black in white America.

      • 전산유체역학을 이용한 집진기의 유체유동 연구

        Computer has developed rapidly and used to calculate complicated fluid flow phenomena even to climate, airplane, environment, etc. Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) made it possible to research the experiments in science and engineering fields which can not be performed due to their expense, danger, or time. Recently it is prospected to accelerate the proliferation of CFD to various fields. In this study, Fluent code as a commercial code of CFD is used to scrutinize the fluid flow phenomena in a simple cyclone, a representative dust collector. A tangential entry cyclone in a standard size was gridded in 2D and 3D and calculated to iteration no. over 2800 by k-ε turbulence model in the conditions of = 1.2 (10℃) =1.76 10^-5 kg/m·sec (10℃), inlet = 1, U velocity = 24.384m/sec, turbulence intensity = 5%, and characteristic length = 80×10^-5kg/m·sec, in boundary conditions U velocity = 7.1m/sec, turbulence intensity = 5%, and characteristic length = 80×10^-3kg/m·sec. The results of this study were as follows: Mass flux in the cyclone was large in the near upper area between the outside cylinder and the inside cylinder under inlet, and getting smaller downward along the cone and upward to outlet in the middle of the cylinder. In the pressure distribution the pressure was highest at the upper and outer area between the outside cylinder and the inside. cylinder, the opposit side of the inlet, and getting lower downward along the inner wall of the cone and the outside cylinder and negative upward along the middle from the dust exit to outlet area.

        Introduction of the Magnetic Pulse Compressor (MPC) - Fundamental Review and Practical Application

        Magnetic switch is a kind of saturable inductor, which utilizes nonlinearity of the magnetization curve of ferromagnetic materials. The right understanding of the saturation phenomena, magnetic properties, voltage-time product, and switching characteristics of the magnetic switch is essential in designing the magnetic pulse compressor (MPC). In this paper, the historical background of research on the MPC, fundamental physical properties of the magnetic switches, and application fields of the MPC are presented. Further, an in-depth analysis of pulse compression in series and parallel MPCs is incorporated. As practical application examples, a series MPC used for water treatments and a parallel MPC used for pulsed electric field (PEF) inactivation of bacteria are cited.

      • 소아 수부 화상의 임상적 고찰

        From March 1991 to December 1994, 243 burn patients under the age of fifteen visit to Kon-Kuk university medical college Hospital. Among of them, 75 burn sites were hand. In these pediatric hand burn patients, retrospective study was done for the review of following issues : ago and sex distribution, cause of burn, hourly distribution of accident, depth of burn and method of treatment. The summary of results were as follows: 1) Pediatric hand burn was 30.86% of all visited burn patients under 15 years old. 2) The most common cause of burns was scalding burn as 44 cases(58.66%), followed by contact burn as 12 cases(16.00%) and steam burn 12 cases(16.00%), electrical burn as 4 cases(5.33%) and flame burn as 3 cases(4.00%). 3) The most prevalent age group was under 1 year old 25 cases(33.33%). 4) The most common injured time range was between 4 p.m. and 8p.m. 29 cases(38.66%). 5) The depth distribution was as follows: 2nd degree 60 cases(80.00%), 3rd degree 11 cases(14.66%), 1st degree 3 cases(4.0%) and 4th and degree 1 case(1.33%). 6) The method of treatment was as follow distribution: conservative treatment 73 cases(96%) and operative treatment 3 cases(4%) and admission was 18 cases(14.00%). 7) The 2 cases(2.66%) (were complicated as scar contracture with syndactyly in one case.

      • 수지첨부 손상의 임상적 고찰

        One hundred and twenty five cases of the fingertip injuries were operated at the Department of Plastic Surgery of Konkuk Medical Center of Chungju from Jan. 1994 to Nov. 1998. There were 129 patients with 138 fingertip injuries. Patients were most commonly occurred in their fourth decade which was 34(27%)cases and male to female ratio was 2.7:1. Third finger was the most frequently affected site which was shown in at 41 cases(29.7%), next 2nd finger and 4th came in order. The most common levels of digit injured were nail bed and nail matrix. The injuries were chiefly caused by a kinds of press, door, and cultivator belt. The crushing injury was the most common type of wound. Local anesthesia was mainly used to operate the fingertip injuries.

        Recently, the construction of gas insulated substation(GIS)s has been increased in Korea. But, the whole quantity of the VTs which were used in GIS has been imported. Under the circumstance that $SF_6$ gas power apparatus are being developed up to 800kV rating in Korea, the development of EHV $SF_6$ gas VT is essential for localizing the power apparatus. As for EHV VT, destructive ferroresonance can be generated due to the combination of capacitiances between poles of circuit breaker, ground capacitance of bus and nonlinear excitation property of VT core. But the theoretical analysis about ferroresonance has not been fully achieved in Korea. Therefore, in this paper the authors would like to contribute for localizing EHV $SF_6$ gas VT by developing the diagram of ferroresonance zone according to the parameters of the circuit and the saturable reactor.

        The commercial use of the electricity began in 1849. Since that time there has been progressive increase in the incidence of accidents due to electricity. In high voltage electrical burn, it may resulted in deep destruction of the underlying muscle, nerves, bone, and vessels under viable skin. Entrance site and output site of electrical burn are usually etremities, and so we experienced exposure or bone and joint, loss of function, and amputation in a significant number of cases. Microvascular procedures under these circumstances may well represent the most expeditious methods of salvaging an extremity even when more conventional techniques are available such as skin graft, local flap etc. We have treated 4 cases of eletrical injury with free flap : 2 lateral arm flap, 1 scapular flap, 1 radial forearm flap. Although existence of minor complication, the result were excellent.

        Solid-state Pulse Modulator for a 1.7-MW X-band Magnetron

        Medical linear accelerators (LINAC) for cancer treatment require pulse modulators to generatehigh-power pulses with a fast rise time, flat top and short duration to drive high-power magnetrons. Solid-state pulse modulators (SSPM) for medical LINACs that use high power semiconductorswitches with high repetition rates, high stability and long lifetimes have been introduced toreplace conventional linear-type pulse generators that use gaseous discharge switches. In this paper,the performance of a developed SSPM, which mainly consists of a capacitor charger, an insulatedgatebipolar transistor (IGBT) - capacitor stack and a pulse transformer, is evaluated with a dummyload and an X-band magnetron load. A theoretical analysis of the pulse transformer, which is acritical element of the SSPM, is carried out. The output pulse has a fast rise time and low droop,such that the modulator can drive the X-band magnetron.
