Gene Introgression Effects of Green Rice Leafhopper Resistance on Grain Quality in Rice

The effects of the transferred green rice leafhopper (GRH) resistant gene on yield and grain quality were analyzed by using 7 near-isogenic lines (NILs) with introgressed GRH resistance gene in rice cultivar "Ilpumbyeo". The genotype analysis using SSR markers indicated that all NILs were recovered more than 95% as compared with recurrent parent "Ilpumbyeo". All NILs showed no significant differences compared to recurrent parent for grain yield. No significant differences were observed between NILs and their recurrent parent for physicochemical traits (protein content, amylose content and alkali spreading value) and eating quality. But there were significant differences for appearance of brown and milled rice and pasting properties between some NILs and their recurrent parent. It means that these grain appearance and pasting traits of NILs were very similar or more improved compared to recurrent parent "Ilpumbyeo". Thus, it could be possible to develop GRH resistant variety with high ,quality in segregating populations.
Big data-based piping material analysis framework in offshore structure for contract design

The material analysis of an offshore structure is generally conducted in the contract design phase for the price quotation of a new offshore project. This analysis is conducted manually by an engineer, which is time-consuming and can lead to inaccurate results, because the data size from previous projects is too large, and there are so many materials to consider. In this study, the piping materials in an offshore structure are analyzed for contract design using a big data framework. The big data technologies used include HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) for data saving, Hive and HBase for the database to handle the saved data, Spark and Kylin for data processing, and Zeppelin for user interface and visualization. The analyzed results show that the proposed big data framework can reduce the efforts put toward contract design in the estimation of the piping material cost.

Background: Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) is used in advanced Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT). The objective of this study was to evaluate the prognostic factors and anti-tumor effects of HAIC in HCC with PVTT. Methods: Fifty HCC patients with PVTT were treated by HAIC via a subcutaneously implanted port. The ECF chemotherapeutic regimen consisted of 35 mg/m2 epirubicin on day 1, 60 mg/m2 cisplatin for 2 h on day 2, and 500 mg/m2 5-fluorouracil for 5 hours on days 1-3. Treatments were repeated every 3 or 4 weeks. Results: Three (6%) of the 50 patients achieved a complete response (CR), 13 (26%) showed partial response (PR), and 22 (44%) had stable disease (SD). The median survival and time to progression were 7 months and 2 months, respectively. Signifi- cant pre-treatment prognostic factors were a tumor volume of <400 cm3 (P=0.007) and normal levels of protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist (PIVKA)-II (P=0.016). After two cycles of treatment, disease control (CR+PR+SD) and PIVKA-II reduction of over 50% were independent factors for survival (P=0.048 and P=0.025). Objective response (CR+PR) and PVTT response were also significant prognostic factors (P=0.043 and P=0.005). Conclusions: HAIC may therefore be considered as an effective treatment modality for advanced HCC with PVTT in patients with good prognostic factors.

In order to improve the productivity and quality of shuttle embroidery machine, gatter shaft to fixes and transfer cloth must be transferred with high speed and keep accurate transfer distance. However, if the gatter shaft is transferred with high speed, gatter shaft is easy to deform and a heavy load occur in shuttle embroidery machine because it has about 15m width and 1ton weight. Therefore, in this study, optimized shape of gatter shaft was drew using finite element method(FEM) and Statistical Design Support System(SDSS) for weight and bending stiffness.
