<P>Ginsenoside Rg5 is a compound newly synthesized during the steaming process of ginseng; however, its biological activity has not been elucidated with regard to endothelial function. We found that Rg5 stimulated <I>in vitro</I> angiogenesis of human endothelial cells, consistent with increased neovascularization and blood perfusion in a mouse hind limb ischemia model. Rg5 also evoked vasorelaxation in aortic rings isolated from wild type and high cholesterol-fed ApoE<SUP>−/−</SUP> mice but not from endothelial nitric-oxide synthase (eNOS) knock-out mice. Angiogenic activity of Rg5 was highly associated with a specific increase in insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) phosphorylation and subsequent activation of multiple angiogenic signals, including ERK, FAK, Akt/eNOS/NO, and G<SUB>i</SUB>-mediated phospholipase C/Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>/eNOS dimerization pathways. The vasodilative activity of Rg5 was mediated by the eNOS/NO/cGMP axis. IGF-1R knockdown suppressed Rg5-induced angiogenesis and vasorelaxation by inhibiting key angiogenic signaling and NO/cGMP pathways. <I>In silico</I> docking analysis showed that Rg5 bound with high affinity to IGF-1R at the same binding site of IGF. Rg5 blocked binding of IGF-1 to its receptor with an IC<SUB>50</SUB> of ∼90 nmol/liter. However, Rg5 did not induce vascular inflammation and permeability. These data suggest that Rg5 plays a novel role as an IGF-1R agonist, promoting therapeutic angiogenesis and improving hypertension without adverse effects in the vasculature.</P>
Phase Current Reconstruction Techniques for Two-Phase Inverters using a Single Current Sensor

This paper proposes phase current reconstruction techniques for two-phase two-leg and two-phase four-leg inverters using a single current sensor. In the proposed methods, one phase current is sampled simultaneously with a particular branch current by using only one current sensor, and then current reconstruction algorithms are applied to extract the information on two phase currents from the sensor output. The sampled current information is periodically updated at the peak and the valley of the triangular carrier waveform in each switching cycle of pulse-width modulation (PWM). The voltage vector spaces where the phase currents can be reconstructed are evaluated. Compared to the existing method using two individual current sensors in two phases, the proposed schemes can save implementation cost since it is possible to remove one current sensor. In addition, the proposed methods are free from gain discrepancy issues between two current sensors. Simulations and experiments show excellent current reconstruction performance of the proposed methods.

최근 여러 대학들은 미래의 생존 전략으로 u-Campus 를 구축하고 있다. 하지만 u-Campus 는 무선 네트워크 환경 중심의 인프라 구축과 그것을 이용한 웹 중심의 서비스들을 제공하는 것에 초점이 맞춰져 있다. 이러한 서비스들은 중앙 집중적 구조로 인해 사용자가 폭주했을 경우 원활한 서비스의 제공이 힘들고, 사용자가 서비스를 제공받는 동안 계속해서 네트워크에 접속해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 이동 에이전트를 이용한 u-Campus 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 사용자가 지속적으로 서비스에 접속을 유지할 필요가 없고 네트워크 자원의 효율성도 증가시킨다. 그리고 이동 에이전트의 지능적인 서비스 제공으로 사용자는 각 의사 결정 과정에 개입할 필요가 없다.
