        School illumination with full volume of light and adequate brightness is designed to help students better focus on their education and produce an optimum atmosphere where students can apply their utmost to learning. This paper presents study on actual illumination environment of schools in order to figure out illumination problems. Furthermore. it attempts to suggest an optimum design for schoolroom illumination through computer simulation. We try to attain qualitative improvement effect in school illumination under the illuminaion plan which is based on illumination maintenance and uniformity ratio that K.S. illumination standard sets.

        볼나사 지지 구조와 베어링 조합 배열에 관한 연구

        In order to achieve high precision machine tools, Performance enhancement of feed drive systems is required. One of the important technical issues is how to decrease thermal expansion of ball screw in proportion to the increase of machining speed. When measuring force of stretch of ball screw, since not only actual expansion and the value of bending have to be considered, it is impossible to define the exact value of expansion. In addition, support bearings of ball screw gain considerable force in axial direction. It also generates thermal expansion on the ball screw, and deteriorates the performances of the bearings. In conclusion, it is impossible to give the pretension enough to absorb all the elongation due to thermal expansion generated during machine is running. If give, bed column and saddle are all bent to change machine accuracy, and the support bearings of ball screw is damages.

      • Squalene Adjuvant를 이용한 단백질 항원의 세포성 면역반응 유도

        To investigate the role of adjuvant for cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) induction, squalene-based adjuvant was studied its capability eliciting to the induction of cellular immunity as well as humoral immunity to exogeneous proteins. Ovalbumin (OVA) was used as model proteins. It was demonstrated that antigen formulation consisted of metabolizable oil squalene mixed with Tween 80 and pluronic L121 (S/TJ121) could induced the antigen specific CTL responses and antibodies irrespective of immunization routes in mice. We also demonstrated that this antigen formulation was a inducer of CD8+, major histocompatibility complex(MHC) class I-restricted, and antigen-specific C;1'Ls. These data suggest that the squalene-based emulsion system is a potent adjuvant inducing cellular immunity as well as humoral immunity.

        장시간 불가피한 공복(fasting)후 인체의 내분비 변화 : 삼풍백화점 붕괴 사고후 구조된 3인의 증례 THREE CASES IN COLLAPSE OF SAMPOONG DEPARTMENT STORE

        The interactions between nutrition and the endocrine system are more intimate and complex that previously thought. Nutrition modulates secretion and activity of many hormones, as part of the stress adaptation process. Fasting, in particular, produces a number of important changes in the endocrine system, with teleological purpose of helping the body tolerate the lack of food ingestion. These changes are therefore beneficial and protective, although at times they may not appear to be that way. The endocrine changes of fasting mediate the metabolic response. We must emphasize that these changes are completely reversible when appropriate nutrition is established. These changes are as followes: 1) decreased insulin and increased glucagon levels, 2) decreased thyroid effect, 3) decreased sympathetic activity, 4) hypothalamic hypogonadism, 5) decreased growth, 6) altered glucocorticoid secretion and metabolism, 7) impaired mineralocorticoid response, 8) decreased ADH secretion and effect. We experienced three cases of involuntary prolonged fasting after collapse of Sampoong department store. They were released from collapsed field after 11(case Ⅰ), 13(case Ⅱ), 17days(case Ⅲ) respectively. In each case, the endocrine changes of plasma levels were as followes: decrease of cortisol in case Ⅰ, increase of GH in case Ⅱ, decrease of free T3, T3, cortisol and increase of reverse T3, insulin in case Ⅲ. Each one did not show the same endocrine changes of plasma levels. But we think these changes of fasting are beneficial in metabolic response of human.

      • The Reversal of Drug-Resistance in Tumors Using a Drug-Carrying Nanoparticular System

        <P>Medical applications of nanoparticular systems have attracted considerable attention because of their potential use in therapeutic targeting of disease tissues and their lower level of toxicity against healthy tissue, relative to traditional pharmaceutical drugs. The use of nanoparticular systems has been shown to overcome the limitations of most anticancer drugs in clinical applications. In particular, the improved performance of smarted nanoparticular system for solving the drug resistance problems that typically interrupt tumor treatment has provided a promising strategy for successful tumor chemotherapy. This review highlights recent studies that have examined the therapeutic effect of nanoparticular systems on drug-resistant tumors and presents insight on how they work.</P>

        대장암의 표적 치료

        대장암의 치료는 수술을 근간으로 하여 다양만 항암화학요법과 방사선치료가 보조적으로 사용되고 있다. 항암화학요법은 5-fluo-rouracil(5-FU)을 근간으로 하는 항암화학요법이 널리 사용되고 있고, 최근 들어 oxaliplatinn, irinotecan과 Capecitabine 같은 새로운 항암제가 도입되면서 진행성 대장암 환자의 생존율이 더욱 증가되고 있다. 또한 암세포의 분자생물학적, 유전자적 특성이 밝혀짐에 따라 다양한 분자표적치료제가 개발되고 있으며, 이중에서도 bevacizumab과 cetuximab이 좋은 결과를 보이고 있다. Bevacizumab은 VEGF에 대한 단클론 항체로 신생혈관 생성을 억제하는 기전을 가진 악제로써, 여러 임상연구에서 진행성 암 환자의 1차 약제로 5-FU/LV 또는 irinotecan과 함께 사용하였을 때 반응률 및 생존율의 향상을 보여주었다. Cutuximab은 세포막 수용체인 EGFR에 대한 단클론 항체로 irinotecan에 내성을 보인 진행성 대장암의 2차 약제로 임상연구들이 진행되어 Cetuximab과 irinotecan을 병합탄 투여한 경우 무병생존율이 증가된다고 보고되고 있다. 분자생물학의 발전에 따라 분자표적치료는 더욱 발전할 것으로 생각되며, 기존의 약제와의 이상적인 병합요법과 치료순서에 대한 연구도 진행되어 암 치료에 신기원을 이룰 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common malignant disease in Korea. Until recently, fluorouracil was the only effective systemic treatment for colorectal cancer. But during the past five years, the Food and Drug Administration has approved four new treatments for advanced colorectal cancer. Two of them (irinotecan and oxaliplatin) are cytotoxic drugs, whereas the other two (bevacizumab and cetuximab) are monoclonal antibodies against molecular targets. Bevacizumab, a humanized antibody directed against the vascular endothelial growth factor, has been examined in combination with chemotherapeutic agents in several clinical trials in patients with advanced colorectal cancer. According to the clinical trial conducted by Hurwitz, the addition of bevacizumab to IFL led to an impressive, statistically significant increase in the rate of response and prolongation in median overall survival. Recently, a statistically significant prolongation in median survival was also reported with the addition of bevacizumab to FOLFOX in patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Cetuximab is a monoclonal antibody against the epidermal growth factor receptor. It appears to be synergistic with irinotecan, even in irinotecan-resistant tumors. The most common side effects of cetuximab is acne-like rash, and the development and severity of it have been correlated with an increased likelihood of an objective response. Additional research will be required to define the optimal selection and scheduling of available cytotoxic and biologic treatment in individually tailored therapeutic strategies.
