In recent years, with continuous research efforts targeted at studying the effects of pre- and after-treatment of inhaled anesthetics, significant progress has been made regarding the common clinical use of low concentrations of inhaled sevoflurane and its effect on induced central ischemia tolerance by pre- and post-treatment. In this study, we collected, analyzed, classified, and summarized recent literature regarding the effect of sevoflurane on central ischemia tolerance and its related mechanisms. In addition, we provide a theoretical basis for the clinical application of sevoflurane to protect the central nervous system and other important organs against ischemic injury.
Modular synthesis of heparanase substrates

Heparanase, preferentially expressed in many tumor cells, is an endoβDglucuronidase that cleaves specific sites of heparan sulfate. Elevated levels of heparanase expression correlate with tumor vasculatrity, metastatic potiential, and reduced postoperative survival of cancer patients. Consequencely, heparanase detection is considered a tool for cancer discovery. A library of 20 welldefined Tetra1 analogs were prepared in a convergent “2+2” glycosidation manner utilizing a relatively small number of protected disaccharide donors and acceptors. Among three different donors prepared for the fullprotected tetrasaccharide, trifluoroacetimidate donor was most suitable for the preservation and glycosidation reaction, and in each glycosylation, the yield was good and the major anomer was obtained. After coupling these 12 glycosydic reactions, the observation indicate that the coupling ratio is not only relating to the structure and exact nature of acceptors, but also correlated to the structure and size of donors. Key features of the approach include the use of Bz esters or PMB ethers for those hydroxyls that need sulfation, regioselective opening of the 4,6-O-benzylidene acetal for 4OBn that don’t need sulfation and 6OH that need oxidation, an anomeric TBS group for glycosyl donor synthesis, and benzyl ethers just as permanent protecting groups. The HS oligosaccharides will be employed to probe structural features of HS for cleavage of heparanase.
Damage-control technology of oil-based drilling fluid for Kuqa piedmont structure

Oil-based drilling fluid is widely used in tight sandstone well and shale well in recent years, performance advantages of borehole stability and formation protection are the main reason to promote its use. According to the development and existing research, oil-based drilling fluid still existed serious damage, and could not catch the attention of developers. The study chose Keshen Block as the research object, analyzed reservoir characteristics, evaluated rock wettability, damage of oil-based drilling fluid and oil trapping, and analyzed damage mechanisms of oil-based drilling fluid. Based on the damage mechanisms and the characteristics of drilling fluid, the study analyzed the damage-control mechanisms, established optimization principle of oil-based drilling fluid, and optimized drilling fluid. Dynamic damage experiments and field application of drilling fluid showed that formation protection performance of optimized oil-based drilling fluid had improved significantly, and the formation damage caused by oil-based drilling fluid had been controlled effectively.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy for resectable esophageal carcinoma has been a focus of study, but no agreement has been reached on clinical randomized controlled trials and relevant systematic evaluation. The purpose of this study was to perform a meta-analysis on published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery with surgery alone for resectable esophageal carcinoma. Medline and manual searches was conducted in PubMed, ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) meeting summary, Embase, the Cochrane Library (up to October 2010), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Database, Wanfang Database. The selection contents were to identify all published and unpublished RCTs that compared neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery with surgery alone for resectable esophageal carcinoma. Sixteen RCTs which included 2,594 patients were selected. The risk ratio (RR) (95% confidence interval [CI]; P value), expressed as neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery versus surgery alone (treatment versus control), was 1.02 (0.95, 1.10; P=0.54) for 1-year survival, 1.29 (1.13, 1.47; P=0.0001) for 3-year survival, 1.31 (1.13, 1.51; P=0.0003) for 5-year survival, 1.00 (0.95, 1.04; P= 0.85) for rate of resection and 0.89 (0.64, 1.23; P=0.48) for operative mortality. The results showed that neoadjuvant chemotherapy for resectable esophageal carcinoma can raise the overall survival rate of patients with esophageal carcinoma, but it does not affect treatment-related mortality.

Metabolic reprogramming and epigenetic modifications are hallmarks of cancer cells. In cancer cells, metabolic pathway activity varies during tumorigenesis and cancer progression, indicating regulated metabolic plasticity. Metabolic changes are often closely related to epigenetic changes, such as alterations in the expression or activity of epigenetically modified enzymes, which may exert a direct or an indirect influence on cellular metabolism. Therefore, exploring the mechanisms underlying epigenetic modifications regulating the reprogramming of tumor cell metabolism is important for further understanding tumor pathogenesis. Here, we mainly focus on the latest studies on epigenetic modifications related to cancer cell metabolism regulations, including changes in glucose, lipid and amino acid metabolism in the cancer context, and then emphasize the mechanisms related to tumor cell epigenetic modifications. Specifically, we discuss the role played by DNA methylation, chromatin remodeling, noncoding RNAs and histone lactylation in tumor growth and progression. Finally, we summarize the prospects of potential cancer therapeutic strategies based on metabolic reprogramming and epigenetic changes in tumor cells.

The formation of many historic districts in China could be traced back to millennia ago. To deal with the relationship between conservation and development of historical blocks, it is necessary to gain a full understanding of the “authenticity” and the change process of historic districts. On this basis, making appropriate landscape management decisions could be possible. The spatial pattern of Fuzhou “Three Lanes and Seven Alleys” district was established in the late Tang Dynasty by introducing Li-Fang system in city planning; after the accumulation in Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, this district reached the peak of development in the middle of Qing Dynasty. It was not only manifested in the emergence of characteristic dwellings, such as courtyard-style folk houses and the “Chai-lan-cuo” wooden house; but also in the great cultural influence, the formation of perfect education system, the talent people coming forth in large numbers and the prosperous commercial atmosphere. From 1955 to early twenty-first Century, “three lanes and Seven Alleys” were no longer brilliant, even once reduced to “shanty towns”. Since 2005, the management strategy of “San-fang Qi-xiang” have changed from one-side “Tourism Culture Street” model to a more comprehensive “community museum” model, but some problems still exist and need revamp.

The aim of this study was to investigate the expression and significance of microsomal prostaglandin synthase-1 (mPGES-1) and Beclin-1 in the development of prostate cancer (PCa). Immunohistochemistry was performed on paraffin-embedded sections with rabbit polyclonal against mPGES-1 and Beclin-1 in 40 PCa, 40 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and 10 normal prostate specimens for this purpose. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was applied for mRNA expression of mPGES-1 and Beclin-1, while MTT assays were used to ascertain the best working concentration of the mPGES-1 inhibitor (CAY10526). The effect of CAY10526 treatment on expression of Beclin-1 in DU-145 cells was studied using Western blot analysis. Localization of Beclin-1 and mPGES-1 was in endochylema. Significant differences in expression was noted among PCa, BPH and normal issues (P<0.05). Beclin-1 expression inversely correlated with mPGES-1 expression in PCa tissue (P<0.05). CAY10526 could significantly block mPGES-1 expression and the proliferation of DU-145 cells (P<0.05), while increasing Beclin-1 levels (P<0.05). Overexpression of mPGES-1 could decrease the autophagic PCa cell death. Inhibiting the expression of mPGES-1 may lead to DU-145 cell death and up-regulation of Beclin-1. The results suggest that inhibition of mPGES-1 may have therapeutic potential for PCa in the future.
Capacitors Energy Strategy Based Cascaded H-Bridge Converter for DC Port Failures

In this paper, a capacitors energy strategy based Cascaded H-bridge Converter (CHBC) for steady DC link voltage is proposed, which allow the CHBC to work while DC power fails. The topology of the CHBC is analyzed to construct the proposed strategy. The capacitors energy strategy is deduced based on the principle that the DC link voltage should be steady, the switch state should be smooth and the switch frequency should be normal. Experiments based on a three-module prototype, including static experiment, start experiment and step change experiment, proves the correctness of the strategy. They also verified the excellent fault tolerance ability and good dynamic performance of the proposed strategy.
