Synthesis and Characterization of pH-sensitive and Self-oscillating IPN Hydrogel in a pH Oscillator

        Liping Wang,Jie Ren,Xiaoyan Zhang,Xiaoci Yang,Wu Yang 한국고분자학회 2015 폴리머 Vol.39 No.3

A self-oscillating interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) poly(acrylic acid)/poly(ethylene glycol) (PAA/PEG) hydrogel was prepared by using radical polymerization with a two-step method. The IPN hydrogel was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and morphological analysis. The results indicated that the chains of PEG and PAA twined to form porous structure which is beneficial to water molecules entering inside of the hydrogel. In addition, the pH-responsive behavior, salt sensitivity, swelling/de-swelling oscillatory behaviors and self-oscillation in a closed pH oscillator were also studied. The results showed that the prepared hydrogel exhibited pH-sensitivity, good swelling/de-swelling reversibility and excellent salt sensitivity. The self-oscillating behavior of swelling/de-swelling for the prepared hydrogel was caused by pH alteration coupled with the external media. This study may create a new possibility as biomaterial including new self-walking actuators and other related devices.

Association between expression levels and growth trait-related SNPs located in promoters of the MC4R and MSTN genes in Spinibarbus hollandi

        Yang Yang,Zhaojun Lan,Hu Shu,Huiqiang Zhou,Xiaolu Jiang,Liping Hou,Pinghua Gu 한국유전학회 2018 Genes & Genomics Vol.40 No.11

Melanocortin 4 receptor: (MC4R) and Myostatin (MSTN) are two important growth trait-related genes in animals. In this study, we showed that two SNPs, MC4R-719A>G and MSTN-519C>T, found in the promoters of the MC4R and MSTN genes, respectively, are both associated with growth traits in Spinibarbus hollandi. Furthermore, we observed that there were significant associations between the expression levels of the MC4R and MSTN genes and these two growth trait-related SNPs. The expression level of MC4R gene in brain was lower in GG genotype fish with extremely high growth performance than that in AA genotype fish with extremely low growth performance. Expression level of the MSTN gene in muscle was lower in TT genotype fish with extremely high growth performance than that in CC and CT genotype fish with lower growth performance. The results indicated that these SNPs located in the promoters of MC4R and MSTN are associated with growthrelated traits through modification of gene expression levels. The MSTN and MC4R SNPs may have useful application in effective marker-assisted selection aimed to increase output in S. hollandi.

Formation of Protein Bodies and the Response to Nitrogen in Different Positions During Wheat Endosperm Development

        Yang Yang,Xinyu Chen,Liping Ran,Yunfei Wu,Xurun Yu,Zhaodi Dong,Fei Xiong 한국식물학회 2019 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.62 No.4

The development of protein bodies (PBs) determinesthe processing properties of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Ithas been known that nitrogen uptake has a strong impact ongrain protein concentration. However, the differences of theformation of PB in different developmental stages anddifferent positions in wheat endosperm are still controversial. To solve these issues, PBs formation in different wheatendosperm parts and the response to nitrogen were investigatedusing light, transmission electron microscopes in presentstudy. The main results were as follows. (1) Proteins mainlyformed PBs via the Golgi apparatus in the vacuole at theearly stage of wheat endosperm development. After 7 dayspost anthesis, most proteins were derived from the roughendoplasmic reticulum. (2) The morphology of PBs was diverseamong different endosperm parts. Compared with the centralendosperm, the PBs in sub-aleurone cells were abundant andlarge. (3) More abundant endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi andmitochondrion were observed at the early stage after nitrogentreatment. Nitrogen also increased the accumulation of PBsat the later stage. (4) The sub-aleurone region cells of theendosperm presented more significant responses to nitrogenthan the central endosperm.

Mechanism of the anti-liver fibrosis effect of Periplaneta americana extracts that promote apoptosis of HSC-T6 cells through the Bcl-2/Bax signaling pathway

        Yuan Liping,Yang Xiao,He Ying,Zhao Yanwen,Chen Yi,Yang Yongshou,Xiao Peiyun 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.2

Periplaneta americana L. (Blattidae) extract (PA-B) possesses anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hep atoprotective properties; however, its mechanism of action in liver fibrosis remains unclear. Herein, we inves tigated the hepatoprotective effect and mechanism of action of PA-B. HSC-T6 cells treated with PA-B were stimulated with TGF-β1, and immunofluorescence, western blotting, Hoechst 33,342 staining, confocal laser scanning microscopy, and flow cytometry were performed. Furthermore, the effects of PA-B were verified in a rat model of hepatic fibrosis established using 40 % carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ). PA-B induced apoptosis of HSC-T6 cells by inhibiting proliferation (maximum inhibition ratio 99.08 %), reducing mitochondrial membrane po tential, and ameliorating apoptosis-related proteins (P < 0.01). PA-B (120 mg/kg) significantly alleviated CCl 4 -induced hepatic histopathological fibrosis and reduced the levels of aspartate aminotransferase (from 27.68 to 20.58 U/L) and alanine aminotransferase (from 16.88 to 5.93 U/L; P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Immunohistochemistry and western blotting showed that α-SMA levels were reduced (from 0.49 to 0.23) and that the Bcl/Bax signaling pathway was significantly inhibited by PA-B (120 mg/kg; P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). PA-B exhibits anti-fibrotic effects by mediating the Bcl-2/Bax pathway and promoting HSC-T6 cell apoptosis, providing a basis for its development as a drug to treat liver fibrosis.

Cf/C-Cu- New Sliding Electrical Contact Materials

        Liping Ran,Maozhong Yi,Ke Peng,Lin Yang,Yicheng Ge 한국탄소학회 2009 Carbon Letters Vol.10 No.2

[ Cf/C-Cu ]composites were fabricated by infiltrating molten Cu into different Cf/C preforms prepared by chemical vapor infiltration, resin impregnation and carbonization. The microstructure and properties of the composites were investigated. The results show that Cu in the composites filled the pores and showed network-like distribution. Compared with homemade J204 brush material and certain grade pantograph slider from abroad, the composites have higher flexural strength and better electrical conductivity. The friction and wear properties of the composites are better than that of J204, and closed to that of the abroad material.

      • Online Proteolysis and Glycopeptide Enrichment with Thermoresponsive Porous Polymer Membrane Reactors for Nanoflow Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

        Yang, Joon Seon,Qiao, Juan,Kim, Jin Yong,Zhao, Liping,Qi, Li,Moon, Myeong Hee American Chemical Society 2018 ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY - Vol.90 No.5

<P>In this Article, we have reported a fully automated online method to carry out proteolysis and glycopeptide enrichment in sequence for nanoflow liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (nLC-ESI-MS/MS) analysis. By implementing two serial thermoresponsive porous polymer membrane reactors (TPPMRs), in which the TPPM could be immobilized either with trypsin for proteolysis or with lectins for glycopeptide enrichment, the entire pretreatment procedure can be performed online in about an hour. The TPPM was fabricated by coating polystyrene-maleic anhydride-<I>N</I>-isopropylacrylamide (PS-MAn-PNIPAm), which was synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization, on a Nylon sheet. Because of the thermoresponsive nature of PNIPAm, it formed micelle cavities and changed its morphology at elevated temperatures, resulting in enhanced interactions between the enzyme or lectins and the proteins/peptides flowing through the membrane. The performances of the TPPMs were evaluated by varying the temperature conditions and the amount of standard proteins, showing that both proteolysis and glycopeptide enrichment with online deglycosylation were highly efficient at 37 °C. The developed online serial TPPMRs-nLC-ESI-MS/MS method was applied to the human plasma sample (1.5 μL) and a total of 262 <I>N</I>-glycopeptides could be identified from 155 glycoproteins. Thus, the present work demonstrates a fully automated high speed analytical protocol for online proteolysis and glycopeptide enrichment, which is extremely useful for analyzing small amounts of the proteome samples.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Identifying SDC-Causing Instructions Based on Random Forests Algorithm

( Liping Liu ),( Linlin Ci ),( Wei Liu ),( Hui Yang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.13 No.3

Silent Data Corruptions (SDCs) is a serious reliability issue in many domains of computer system. The identification and protection of the program instructions that cause SDCs is one of the research hotspots in computer reliability field at present. A lot of solutions have already been proposed to solve this problem. However, many of them are hard to be applied widely due to time-consuming and expensive costs. This paper proposes an intelligent approach named SDCPredictor to identify the instructions that cause SDCs. SDCPredictor identifies SDC-causing Instructions depending on analyzing the static and dynamic features of instructions rather than fault injections. The experimental results demonstrate that SDCPredictor is highly accurate in predicting the SDCs proneness. It can achieve higher fault coverage than previous similar techniques in a moderate time cost.

Control Flow Checking at Virtual Edges

( Liping Liu ),( Linlin Ci ),( Wei Liu ),( Hui Yang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2017 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.11 No.1

Dynamically checking the integrity of software at run-time is always a hot and difficult spot for trusted computing. Control-flow integrity is a basic and important safety property of software integrity. Many classic and emerging security attacks who introduce illegal control-flow to applications can cause unpredictable behaviors of computer-based systems. In this paper, we present a software-based approach to checking violation of control flow integrity at run-time. This paper proposes a high-performance and low-overhead software control flow checking solution, control flow checking at virtual edges (CFCVE). CFCVE assigns a unique signature to each basic block and then inserts a virtual vertex into each edge at compile time. This together with insertion of signature updating instructions and checking instructions into corresponding vertexes and virtual vertexes. Control flow faults can be detected by comparing the run-time signature with the saved one at compile time. Our experimental results show that CFCVE incurs only 10.61% performance overhead on average for several C benchmark programs and the average undetected error rate is only 9.29%. Compared with previous techniques, CFCVE has the characteristics of both high fault coverage and low memory and performance overhead.

Nematicidal effect of volatiles produced by Trichoderma sp.

        Zhongshan Yang,ZeFen Yu,,Liping Lei,Zhenyuan Xia,Li Shao,Ke Qin Zhang,Guo Hong Li 한국응용곤충학회 2012 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.15 No.4

Trichoderma is an important biocontrol agent that produces metabolites harmful to nematodes. We investigated the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of Trichoderma sp. YMF 1.00416 and examined their abilities to kill nematodes. Chemical investigations of the VOCs from this strain led to the isolation and identification of three metabolites: a new compound, 1β-vinylcyclopentane-1α,3α-diol (1) and two known metabolites, 6-pentyl-2H-pyran-2-one (2) and 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)phenol (3). Nematicidal activity assays showed that compound 2 was nematicidal, and killed >85% of Panagrellus redivivus, Caenorhabditis elegans, and Bursaphelenchus xylophilus in 48 h at 200 mg/L in a 2 mL vial. Our results will help identify new nematicides.
