In this paper, an adaptive acoustic echo canceller based on the wavelet transform filter banks is proposed. The proposed algorithm improves the performance of AEC with a realtime process. The conjugate quadrature filter by Daubechies D4 wavelet is used for proposed wavelet subband filter banks. Adaptive filter coefficients of each subband are updated using LMS algorithm. Subband output signal vectors of adaptive filter are synthesized by synthesis filter banks. The output of adaptive filter is obtained a widband characteristics. As a result of computer simulation using the practical speech signal, the proposed method reduces noise level about l6dB.

Onion (Allium cepa L.) is one of the major condiment vegetables in Korea. Cytoplasmic-genic male sterility (CMS) system is used on a commercial basis for F1 hybrid development. Onion has biennial nature and strong self-depression, so breeding of inbred lines are taken a long period about 8 to 10 years. To breed a maintainer line highly adopted in long-day condition, SCAR marker and test crosses were used. We selected N-cytoplasm plants using sequence characterized amplified region (SCAR) marker from ‘Manchuhwang’ (open-pollinated cultivar), which was bred by National Institute of Highland Agriculture (NIHA). Selected N-cytoplasm plants were crossed with male sterile inbred line (W202A, Wisconsin Univ., USA). A total of 66 crosses were accomplished, and 34 crosses could be analyzed for the nuclear restore allele. Among 34 combinations, the offsprings of one combination showed all male sterility and this line was selected as the maintainer line in the ‘Manchuhwang’. This maintainer line was just available with materials for F1 hybrid seed production without fixing of characters with male sterile line.

<P>Solubility prediction of organic ionic compounds in both aqueous and organic solvents is important for understanding and optimizing lithographic performances. In this study, we proposed computational methods to predict solubility of organic ionic compounds. To compare the predicted solubility with the experimental one, we applied a multiple linear regression model by changing a set of explanatory variables. We conclude that the variables of solvation free energies of cation-anion pair, cation and anion, which are Delta G(AB)degrees, Delta G(A)degrees and Delta G(B)degrees respectively, will be sufficient to describe the relationship between the predicted and experimental solubility values. We expect that the more accurate empirical model for quantitative prediction of solubility of organic ionic compounds by expanding these regression models and further optimizing the parameters based on larger set of experimental values will be reserved.</P>

Agricultural production in Saemangeum reclaimed land is limited by low organic matter and nutrients content of soil, which lowers crops productivity. One of the best ways to improve soil properties and yield of upland crops are to increase soil organic matter by using organic amendments. To investigate effects of organic amendments on crop productivity and improvement in soil properties, we cultivated maize in an experimental field on Saemangeum reclaimed land with four treatments of compost and chemical fertilizer (FC), chemical fertilizer (F), control (C), and non-cultivation (N). The increments of organic matter (OM), available phosphate, calcium to potassium ratio (Ca/K ratio) was the greatest in FC treatment. Organic matter contents showed an increasing trend with the application of fertilizer and compost to the soil. The organic matter in the FC treatment increased to 6.29 g kg-1, the highest among the treatments. Available phosphate after the maize harvest was 33 mg kg-1 in the F treatment and was highest in FC treatment, 255 mg kg-1. The Ca/K ratio in FC and C treatments increased to 4.39 from 2018 to 2020. On the other hand, application of only chemical fertilizer (F) did not affected soil properties. The yield of maize in FC treatment increased by 155% compared with that of control. It was concluded that compost contributed more than only chemical fertilizer in building up the organic matter, phosphorus, and Ca/K ratio status of the soil. Also, Application of chemical fertilizer combined with compost was favorable to increase the content of soil organic matter and available phosphate, and the maize productivity.

A pathway for the formation of normal CoAl2O4 particles is suggested. The optimal amount of malonic acid was determined, and the characteristics of the obtained powders were investigated. Normal CoAl2O4 powders were prepared using solutions of malonic acid and metal nitrates. X-ray diffraction, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) measurements, as well as Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and ultraviolet/visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy were carried out. Normal CoAl2O4 crystallites were formed by a solid state reaction between Co2AlO4 and amorphous aluminum oxide. The optimal molar ratio of malonic acid to the nitrate anions present in the initial solution was found to be 0.30~0.35. The particles were composed of agglomerates of primary particles. The primary particles were 40 nm in size. This size was relatively constant regardless of the preparation temperature. However, the size of the agglomerated particles increased to 220 nm with increasing temperature.
