        Bioaccumulation of Arsenic in Recombinant Escherichia coli Expressing Human Metallothionein

        The recombinant Escherichia coli(E.coli) expressing human hepatic metallothionein_IA (hMT_IA) was constructed for bioaccumulation of Arsenic (As). The gene sequence of hMT_IA was modified for codon preference of E.coli and synthesized using chemical method. The vector of pGEX_4T_1 was used=and hMT_IA was expressed as the fusion protein with glutathione S-transferase (GST) tag. The bioaccumulation capability of arsenite compounds As(III) of the recombinant E.coli increased more than 3-fold from 76.3 to 319.6 μg/g dry cells compared with the control. The conditions of 50 μM of As(III) and low pHs were optimal for As(III) bioaccumulation. The heavy metals of Cd, Hg, and Zn inhibited As(III) bioaccumulation. The bioaccumulation reached 70% of the saturated value within 1 h. The recombinant E.coli will be useful in bioremediation of arsenic or other kinds of heavy metal contaminated water.         Cultivation of Nostoc flagelliforme on Solid Medium

        N/A In order to construct an artificial cultivation of Nostoc flagelliforme on solid medium, we attempted to assess the viability of approaches, which utilized either BG -11 agar or sand medium using both sterile and non-sterile algal segments. In the trial in which the BG-11 agar medium was inoculated with the non-sterile algal segments, the algae exhibited the rapid growth in the initial 4 days of cultivation. However, after 4 days of cultivation, the growth rate of the algae slowed, and the algal growth was completely stopped by 7 days of cultivation. When the BG-11 medium was inoculated with the sterile algal segments, the algae exhibited the rapid growth for a longer period of 8 days, reaching a length of 24.9 mm. The growth rate during this period was measured to be 24.5%. After the 8 days of cultivation, the algal growth rate began to slow and had almost stopped by the 13 days of cultivation. On the other hand, when the sterile algal segments were inoculated onto a sand plate, the algal segments decomposed, reaching total decomposition after 11 days of cultivation. By way of contrast, the desiccation treatment samples continued to grow for 14 days of cultivation. After 14 days of cultivation, the algae achieved a length of 26.1 mm, with a growth rate of 30.6%. Our results indicate that periodic desiccation may constitute an effective strategy for the prevention of algal decomposition.

        Facile Synthesis of Co3O4/Mildly Oxidized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes/Reduced Mildly Oxidized Graphene Oxide Ternary Composite as the Material for Supercapacitors

        A three-dimensional (3D) Co3O4/mildly oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (moCNTs)/reduced mildly oxidized graphene oxide (rmGO) ternary composite was prepared via a simple and green hydrolysishydrothermal approach by mixing Co(Ac)2·4H2O with moCNTs and mGO suspension in mixed ethanol/H2O. As characterized by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, Co3O4 nanoparticles with size of 20-100 nm and moCNTs are effectively anchored in mGO. Cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge measurements were adopted to investigate the electrochemical properties of Co3O4/moCNTs/ rmGO ternary composite in 6 M KOH solution. In a potential window of 0-0.6 V vs. Hg/HgO, the composite delivers an initial specific capacitance of 492 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 and the capacitance remains 592 F g−1 after 2000 cycles, while the pure Co3O4 shows obviously capacitance fading, indicating that rmGO and moCNTs greatly enhance the electrochemical performance of Co3O4.

        Fault Detection for Interconnected Systems Subject to Packet Dropouts via Switching Scheme

        The design of fault detection filter for interconnected systems with packet dropouts occurring in measurement channels is proposed in this paper. Taking into account arbitrary disconnected interconnection among subsystems, switching scheme is introduced to simplify the analysis of the problem. By modeling these situations as independent subsystems, the novel systems based on arbitrary switched systems are remodeled. The design of the filter makes the augmented system exponentially stable and satisfies the disturbance attenuation performance. A feasible linear matrix inequality for the existence of filter is derived by switched Lyapunov method based on stochastic function. Finally, two examples are shown to illustrate the method and its effectiveness.

      • Pathologic Response During Chemo-radiotherapy and Variation of Serum VEGF Levels Could Predict Effects of Chemo-Radiotherapy in Patients with Esophageal Cancer

        Background: To investigate the relationship between pathologic tumor response to concurrent chemoradiotherapy and variation of serum VEGF in patients with esophageal cancer. Materials and Methods: Forty six patients with esophageal cancer who were treated with concurrent chemo-radiotherapy were enrolled. Endoscopic and pathologic examination was conducted before and four weeks afterwards. Serum level of VEGF was documented before, four weeks later and after chemo-radiotherapy. The relationship between pathologic response and the variation of serum level of VEGF and its influence on the prognosis were investigated. Results: Serum level of VEGF decreased remarkably during and after chemo-radiotherapy in patients whose pathologic response was severe (F=5.393, 4.587, P(0.05). There were no statistical differences of serum VEGF level before, during and after chemo-radiotherapy for patients whose pathologic response was moderate or mild. There were 18 (85.7%), 7 (53.8%) and 6 patients (50.0%) whose serum VEGF level dropped in the severe, moderate and mild group, respectively, with significant differences among these groups (p=0.046). Two year survival rates of patients with severe, moderate and mild pathologic response were 61.9%, 53.8% and 33.3% respectively, and no statistically difference between severe and mild group regarding OS (p=0.245) was tested. Conclusions: Tumor pathologic response during chemo-radiotherapy and the changes of serum VEGF lever could predict curative effects of chemo-radiotherapy in patients with esophageal cancer.

        Dark-Blood Computed Tomography Angiography Combined With Deep Learning Reconstruction for Cervical Artery Wall Imaging in Takayasu Arteritis

        Objective: To evaluate the image quality of novel dark-blood computed tomography angiography (CTA) imaging combined with deep learning reconstruction (DLR) compared to delayed-phase CTA images with hybrid iterative reconstruction (HIR), to visualize the cervical artery wall in patients with Takayasu arteritis (TAK). Materials and Methods: This prospective study continuously recruited 53 patients with TAK (mean age: 33.8 ± 10.2 years; 49 females) between January and July 2022 who underwent head-neck CTA scans. The arterial- and delayed-phase images were reconstructed using HIR and DLR. Subtracted images of the arterial-phase from the delayed-phase were then added to the original delayed-phase using a denoising filter to generate the final-dark-blood images. Qualitative image quality scores and quantitative parameters were obtained and compared among the three groups of images: Delayed-HIR, Dark-blood-HIR, and Dark-blood-DLR. Results: Compared to Delayed-HIR, Dark-blood-HIR images demonstrated higher qualitative scores in terms of vascular wall visualization and diagnostic confidence index (all P < 0.001). These qualitative scores further improved after applying DLR (Dark-blood-DLR compared to Dark-blood-HIR, all P < 0.001). Dark-blood DLR also showed higher scores for overall image noise than Dark-blood-HIR (P < 0.001). In the quantitative analysis, the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) values between the vessel wall and lumen for the bilateral common carotid arteries and brachiocephalic trunk were significantly higher on Darkblood- HIR images than on Delayed-HIR images (all P < 0.05). The CNR values were significantly higher for Dark-blood-DLR than for Dark-blood-HIR in all cervical arteries (all P < 0.001). Conclusion: Compared with Delayed-HIR CTA, the dark-blood method combined with DLR improved CTA image quality and enhanced visualization of the cervical artery wall in patients with TAK.

        Moving Mass Actuated Reentry Vehicle Control Based on Trajectory Linearization

        The flight control of re-entry vehicles poses a challenge to conventional gain-scheduled flight controllers due to the widely spread aerodynamic coefficients. In addition, a wide range of uncertainties in disturbances must be accommodated by the control system. This paper presents the design of a roll channel controller for a non-axisymmetric reentry vehicle model using the trajectory linearization control (TLC) method. The dynamic equations of a moving mass system and roll control model are established using the Lagrange method. Nonlinear tracking and decoupling control by trajectory linearization can be viewed as the ideal gain-scheduling controller designed at every point along the flight trajectory. It provides robust stability and performance at all stages of the flight without adjusting controller gains. It is this "plug-and-play" feature that is highly preferred for developing, testing and routine operating of the re-entry vehicles. Although the controller is designed only for nominal aerodynamic coefficients, excellent performance is verified by simulation for wind disturbances and variations from -30% to +30% of the aerodynamic coefficients.

        Floop: An efficient video coding flow for unmanned aerial vehicles

        Under limited transmission conditions, many factors affect the efficiency of video transmission. During the flight of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), frequent network switching often occurs, and the channel transmission condition changes rapidly, resulting in low-video transmission efficiency. This paper presents an efficient video coding flow for UAVs working in the 5G nonstandalone network and proposes two bit controllers, including time and spatial bit controllers, in the flow. When the environment fluctuates significantly, the time bit controller adjusts the depth of the recursive codec to reduce the error propagation caused by excessive network inference. The spatial bit controller combines the spatial bit mask with the channel quality multiplier to adjust the bit allocation in space to allocate resources better and improve the efficiency of information carrying. In the spatial bit controller, a flexible mini graph is proposed to compute the channel quality multiplier. In this study, two bit controllers with end-to-end codec were combined, thereby constructing an efficient video coding flow. Many experiments have been performed in various environments. Concerning the multi-scale structural similarity index and peak signal-to-noise ratio, the performance of the coding flow is close to that of H.265 in the low bits per pixel area. With an increase in bits per pixel, the saturation bottleneck of the coding flow is at the same level as that of H.264.

        Redundant rule Detection for Software-Defined Networking

        The emergence of Software Defined Networking (SDN) overcomes the limitations of traditional networking architectures. There are some advantages in SDN which are centralized global network view, programmability, and separation of the data plane and control plane. Due to the limitation of data plane storage capacity in SDN, it is necessary to process the redundancy rules of switch. In this paper, we propose a method for active detection and processing of redundant rules. We use the result generated by the customized probe package to detect redundant rules. And by checking the forwarding behavior of probe packets in the data plane, the redundancy rules are further processed. Furthermore, in order to quickly check the dynamic networks, we propose an incremental algorithms for rapidly evolve the network strategies. We conduct simulation experiments on Matlab to verify the feasibility of the algorithm. The influence of some parameters on the result are discussed.
